Did you know dogs can get Lyme Disease? I didn’t until Sebastian’s vet asked if I wanted to get him tested at the first visit I took him to as his owner. It was the day I got diagnosed with Lyme Disease and I cried when the poor vet tech asked me if I wanted him tested. I told her yes, but if he has it, just give me the medication and don’t tell me. He ended up not having it, but it was definitely a lesson learned. Cell membranes are made of fatty acids called phospholipids. Inside of cells, organelles such as mitochondria are also comprised of phospholipids. Cell membranes can be damaged from physical trauma, exposure to chemicals or toxins, infections, and oxidative stress. The mycotoxin Ochratoxin A, produced by Aspergillus and Penicillium molds, has been shown to damage phospholipids that comprise cell membranes. Damaged cell membranes lead to compromised cell function, contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, and immune system dysfunction. The laboratory marker malondialdehyde (MDA) is a marker of lipid oxidative stress and can be used to assess the level of cell membrane damage. Not surprisingly, mycotoxins have been show to increase malondialdehyde. Treating mold-related illness involves more than detoxifying mycotoxins. May is #LymeDiseaseAwareness month and not a day goes by that I am not affected by the aftermath of Lyme Disease. In 2012 I went on my 3rd camping trip of my life and unknowingly contracted Lyme Disease. It took over 2 years to be properly diagnosed and by then it had tanked my health and I could not longer work, drive and was basically bed ridden. I did weekly IV treatments for 3 years before finally doing stem cell therapy to help me recover from Lyme. I am still dealing with the aftermath of lyme, and though I am lucky to not have lyme symptoms It triggered on many autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that I still manage and battle everyday. I hope by raising awareness I can help others from preventing contracting Lyme or being properly tested if you are having mystery illness & symptoms. It’s Lyme disease awareness month💚 Man, today it hit me hard. While I was getting my usual treatments sitting in a center surrounded by cancer and Lyme patients getting poked with needles. I couldn’t help to think about my son who’s at a park with our sitter.. but not me. Tears streamed down my face.. I think the hardest part of this whole thing is that I can’t be the mom I always thought I would be. Luckily I have the means to be able to try every treatment available, and I will keep doing so and doing everything I can to heal for my family. My son Beau. I feel like the end of this horrible disease is near for me… I have 3 amazing doctors collaborating to heal me & to get me back to my old vibrant self. I feel like I can see the end of the tunnel. It isn’t so dark anymore & man it is a great feeling. Every poke, every needle, every pill, every herb, every treatment is worth it for my son. Thank you to all the people that have remained friends with me, who check in on me, who go out of their way to let me know they are thinking of me & to keep fighting. It’s May 1st which means it’s officially Lyme Disease awareness month! I personally don’t really talk about Lyme on this page much because I’m not exactly sure which of my symptoms are from Lyme and which are from other illnesses. On October 4, 2022 I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and Bartonella. According to the lab work, I had probably had it for years and just didn’t know it. I went on a 6 week protocol, but unfortunately my body did not take to it, and I’ve been in the process of looking for a new doctor since I moved from Knoxville. The problem is, in nursing school, and even med school, they teach you that Lyme Disease is a bullseye rash and to treat it with antibiotics. I once challenged a professor asking what to do if there’s no rash but we believe it to be Lyme Disease, and she told me it is not…. So if you have chronic Lyme, or never get that rash, you have to seek alternative medicine practices which are often out of pocket. Thats why raising awareness for Lyme Disease and other tick born illnesses is sooo important. How many of you struggle with muscle twitches, spasms seizures, tremors, etc.? Whatever you call it, it’s scary, confusing, disruptive and overwhelming. After months of searching, I have finally been diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) or Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES). I saw about Epilepsy specialist at Vanderbilt and did an EEG. Next week, I travel to Boston for my first appointment at the FND clinic at Boston Women’s Hospital. I need help controlling the triggers, which are stress, sensory and vertigo. The cause is either psychiatric, of which I have C-PTSD, or Lyme. I think it’s both! Either way the treatment remains the same, occupational and physical therapy, CBT, etc. Post below if you have similar symptoms and how you manage it! Deze mooie woorden geschreven door An van @hartewoorden kwamen vanmorgen zo bij me binnen...echt prachtig geschreven! 🩷 Zo bijzonder dat ik als lezer van dit gedicht het gevoel heb alsof ze het speciaal voor mij geschreven heeft. Woorden die binnen komen bij mij. Woorden waarvan ik hoop dat ze bij de mensen binnen komen die snel een vooroordeel maken over mij en andere chronisch zieken. Een oordeel is snel gemaakt maar onthoud dat je vanaf de buitenkant nooit mag en kan oordelen over iemands gezondheid. Ook al ziet het plaatje er van de buitenkant misschien goed uit, oordeel niet! Ikzelf ervaar het als een groot nadeel dat mijn ziek zijn niet voor iedereen zichtbaar is. Het zorgt er ook voor dat mijn masker steeds passender gaat zitten. Het heeft (en nog soms) gezorgd voor schaamte. Ik in een rolstoel en scootmobiel, terwijl ik voor andere niet ziek oog. En dan ook nog soms 'gewoon' loop. Wat zullen andere mensen wel niet van me denken? Ze zien niet dat iedere dag een gevecht is. Dat het me zo ontzettend veel moeite kost om überhaupt te lopen of om weg te gaan met de scootmobiel. Ze zien mij niet zonder mijn masker.... Het is zo lastig. Was het maar een gebroken been, dat was het zichtbaar....en kon het gewoon genezen. Gelukkig weten de mensen die mij kennen hoe het zit. En steeds meer leer ik dat wat een ander denkt niet mijn probleem is. How to remove a tick? Have you felt it? Not the lump of the tick. The DREAD of removing it. It feels daunting to remove a tick yourself. If you don’t feel comfy, visit your vet. But if you can’t see the vet, the CDC has these instructions: 👉 Use clean, fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin’s surface as possible. 👉 Pull upward with steady, even pressure. 👉Don’t twist or jerk the tick; this can cause the mouth parts to break off and remain in the skin. If this happens, remove the mouth parts with tweezers. If you cannot remove the mouth easily with tweezers, leave it alone and let the skin heal. After removing the tick, thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol (ouch?). We recommend soap and water or natural pet disinfectant instead. 🔴 Never crush a tick with your fingers. 🗑️ The CDC recommends you dispose of a live tick by: 🗑️ Putting it in alcohol. 🗑️ Placing it in a sealed bag/container. (Hello, landfill, but what can you do?) 🗑️ Wrapping it tightly in tape. 🗑️ Flushing it down the toilet. 😕 (Have you heard of Mosquito Joe? He states ticks can survive underwater for 72 hours.) In recent years, there has been increased awareness of the association between infections and autoimmune conditions. One of the possible causes of Long COVID was the virus, which contributed to autoimmunity. In this new study, researchers set out to determine how common autoantibodies were in four different post-infection groups: people with Lyme that returned to health (RTH), post-treatment Lyme, COVID-19 return to health, and Long COVID. The researchers ran various autoimmune panels in the four study groups to determine the prevalence of 45 autoantibodies. Twenty-one autoantibodies were found in the Lyme groups, compared to eight antibodies in the COVID-19 groups. Interestingly, there was a higher prevalence of scleroderma antibodies in people with Lyme than in COVID-19. There was no correlation between antibody levels and symptomology. There are limitations to this study. First, the cohort of Lyme patients with post-treatment symptoms was tested just over four months after disease onset. If the disease duration was longer, there might be an increase in autoantibodies. However, a previous study with similar results looked at patients after four years of being sick. Other infections have been shown to trigger autoantibody formation, so it is reasonable to consider autoantibody testing in anyone with chronic Lyme disease or Long COVID. Recovering from Lyme disease and co-infections isn’t a one-step process. While killing bugs is an extremely important part of the process, checking micronutrients is absolutely essential in healing and repairing the body. One of our patients had been extremely drained of energy and couldn’t heal her gut because Lyme disease had destroyed her digestive system, leaving her too depleted to heal. When we added in B12 and biotin, she was able to recover and feel well. Another patient was continuing to experience extreme fatigue. She had already gotten rid of Lyme disease, but she couldn’t seem to shake Babesia, even after multiple rounds of antibiotics. When we ran this micronutrient test to see why she was stuck, we found her body was deficient in vitamin A and vitamin D3. Once her body had enough vitamin A, she was finally able to overcome Babesia because her immune system had the necessary materials to function properly. Babesia is a tick-transmitted parasitic infection closely related to malaria. Two species of Babesia, Microti and Duncani, are commonly recognized, but the lesser-known Odocoilei may be more problematic. Ticks that carry Babesia Odocoilei attach to songbirds that migrate across the United States and Canada, so this pathogen is distributed around North America. When Babesia Odocoilei enters the bloodstream, it becomes entangled in fibrin, creating “nests” of infected entanglements. The entanglements block small blood vessels like capillaries, restricting oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues. The fibrin nests formed by infection with Babesia Odocoilei contribute to the symptomology (swipe to see symptoms). There is no commercially available test for Odocoilei. However, a Babesia Immunoblot from Igenex reports on a general species, which may be Odocoilei. A FISH test and confocal microscopy from T-Labs may also represent Odocoilei. Ik moet nu terug antibiotica nemen, de 2 soorten die ik al genomen heb tegen Bartonella, Rifadine en Clarithromycine, de Rifadine nu wel in een hogere dosis, 450 mg 's ochtends in plaats van 300 mg, de dosissen Clarithromycine blijven hetzelfde, 2 keer 500 mg, eens 's middags en eens 's avonds. Het begint nu wel moeilijk te worden met de Toxaprevent die ik 3 keer een half uur voor de maaltijd moet nemen, dan de antibiotica en dan nog eens mijn probiotica x aantal uur weg van mijn antibiotica. Verder heeft de prof. Folavit op mijn behandelplan gezet, foliumzuur. Ook mijn witte bloedcellen en mijn hooggevoelige CRP waren verhoogd. Ik heb een attestje gekregen voor de verkiezingen in juni, om aan te geven dat ik niet kan gaan stemmen, dat is met aanschuiven immers en ik kan niet zo lang blijven rechtstaan. Om nog maar te zwijgen om hoop te blijven houden op beter. Gister en vandaag zijn 'zware' dagen, dat is iedere dag maar nu gaat er nog even een flinke schep bovenop. Mijn benen doen ondraaglijk veel pijn en ik durf er niet goed op te vertrouwen. Mijn linkerarm krijg ik totaal niet omhoog. En mijn vermoeidheid, pffff weet niet meer hoe ik die moet omschrijven. Het zit weer even alles behalve mee. Dus extra rust, nog meer dan anders. Toegeven vandaag aan wat is en mijn wilskracht de rest laten doen. Spent the last 7 years fighting for my life 🤍 honestly, I’m not even sure how all of what happened to me was real. Seizures, heart problems, throat tightness, asthma, crying on the bathroom floor because I couldn’t breathe. This disease destroyed me and it haunts me daily that doctors don’t understand. We will change that! What a battle 🤍 Anyway, I picked up a pickleball racket today and played a little outside, sat in the sun, went to Disney last weekend. I don’t have all of my health back yet, but I’m SO much better than I was. And a few people asked what worked for me, it was definitely finding a kind, empathetic Lyme doctor, microdosing antibiotics and riding out the herxes. If you’re herxing, it’s okay!
