Just when you think you know your kid... 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 I needed a little inspiration so I asked Mason what color I should use. Expecting him to say blue which has been his favorite color for forever, you can imagine my confusion when he said pink. He then went on to tell me that pink has been his favorite color for a while and that he really really loves pink. He still likes blue but he loves pink! I certainly wasn't shocked that he had a new favorite color. Nor was a shocked that it was pink. In fact I'm proud that he can recognize shades, and that he is branching out and making decisions for himself. What I was shocked about was that he changed a favorite and I had no idea. It was like an "aha" moment of my kiddo is becoming his own person. I know it's only the beginning and yes I know it's only a color and that it will most likely change again but when you're a first time mama without a full time guide the little things like this feel amplified. I'll be swimming in pink for the rest of the day along with a few new supplies that came in yesterday! Butterflies have always had a special meaning to me. Everytime I see one I believe it's a loved one, more specifically my parents saying hello. They're giving a little sign to tell me everything is okay. This past week we said goodbye to my grandmother. She had a long, full life but lost an unexpected battle with colon cancer at the age of 93. Happy Friday friends! It's been a long week with lots of decisions made and lots of reality checks given. We have officially enrolled our little man into a pre school that I'm positive is the right fit for him. Since hes on the cusp and just misses our school district cut off date I was positive going into our search that I was gonna push to have him in kindergarten in the 2020-21school year. After much thought and understanding I realize theres no need to rush him. Why put that pressure and frustration on him? The preschool we chose does a lot of learning though play and through nature. They have an outdoor classroom and are outdoors in ever season. My little guy is an explorer. A wanderer. He loves to be outside and the hands on learning made sense for him. While watching him I realized theres nothing more important than his happiness. This kid is smart and he'll be smart whether hes pushed now or later. So I choose later. I choose to let him stay wild as long as he can. These #kidsdiffuserbracelets were definitely inspired from the event of this week. Happiness is being able to do my craft guilt free while my little guy actually takes a nap😆 Yesterday was the first time I really got to make anything new in a while and it felt amazing! #toddlermomlife is tough! Its exhausting and when you start most days at 6 and dont get a much needed break until bedtime you're too exhausted to do anything but sleep😴 we've been working on independent play and as great as hes doing I still get that bit of guilt while trying to do my own thing. Oh hi! I know it's been a few days. Life has been taking me on a crazy ride and I'm hoping I can get off soon🎢 We've started looking at preschools since the cutoff in our district is December 1st and can you guess when Mason's bday is? That's right December 4th. 3 days apparently makes a huge difference in their eyes! Anyway, I've been to a few and let me just say they are not all the same! Each one has a different approach to learning which is great but a little confusing when doing this alone. When we tell Mason were gonna look at another preschool he asks " so we can find the right one, right?" Of course that's why, but how do you know? I think i made myself sick thinking about it too much. High stress=low immune system. I also haven't had much time for myself that wasnt devoted to doing research until...right now😆 Putting breathe and lime in the diffuser and maybe adding some tangerine and hiding in a new batch of beads (including those speckled ones) until the little man wakes up from a much needed nap! And we're back! Long weekends away are never long enough and a vacation really isn't a vacation when you're with your 3 year old #toddlermomlife 🤷♀️ But we still had a great time and I've come back with a new perspective. Which brings me into #marchmeetthemaker prompt 26 Self care I dont do much for myself. I shower. I do a little yoga and every once in a while I enjoy some reading or a crossword puzzle. I know its important to take care of myself but without a large support system and a clingy toddler what's a girl to do?! I'm not one for spa days or even a long bath but after this weekend I realized how much I missed nature walks. The hubby and I were granted the last afternoon of the trip after master Mason screamed his head off and my poor sister held him back to stay with her. No mom shaming please. I had enough guilt but the band aid must be ripped off😬 Anyway we went to a quaint little cafe and then off to the fern forest in pompano and it was so serene and romantic. That's what I needed to clear my head. Not just to be outside but to enjoy it. I needed to walk. I needed to be out of my element. I needed to be out of not only my nest but away from the baby bird. And even though it was only a few hours away from my little guy it didnt feel rushed and we came back to him happy and as refreshed as we could be with very little sleep😴 I'm hoping that it can become a new trend in our lives but with sleep included!
