The sun really helps the clay stiffen and much more manageable than the cold wet weather where nothing dries. I finished building my big pot yesterday for the exhibition @scaderby @museumofmakingderby in June (see my highlights above for details)🙏. I started some gelli printing yesterday for my collaboration with @helenboardman_art . Added a few pieces to the sketchbook Helen had started. It’s a scary thing to paste over someone else’s work but it’s started. This’ll go back to Helen for more layers. It’ll be interesting to see how it progresses over time 😊. #morningstories . I’m going to have a day in my little shed today. I’ve got two large pieces under plastic to keep them from drying out. They’ve not been touched for days so want to get the building finished. I dug up a very large rhubarb on the allotment yesterday which was in the wrong place and divided it into three sections & replanted. A bit late but hopefully they’ll be okay. Two raised beds filled & ready for planting up. Another two to do. The compost bins are solid, they didn’t get turned last year but hopefully they will give us some lovely compost 🤞. I need to empty them and move to a different place so that is my next step. I think we’ve got a rainy day today so a bit more sowing in the greenhouse. What are your plans for today? Pause 🤍 . . Yesterday we had to pause our dog walking challenge as Mr B was limping. We think he hurt his foot charging around the garden the night before on his endeavours to keep Mr Fix out of his garden. He’s walking better today so hoping our daily walks will return soon . Early bird gets the fruit. 😃 This ‘Jaam’ tree has soooo many visitors and there’s fruit for everyone. This isn’t a full grown tree yet, just as tall as little Malhar. Walking into the weekend . . The forecast is good so I need to get out of bed and get walking . Mooch first then breakfast. No real plans beyond that . A little pottering in the garden will be nice so I can enjoy my cherry blossom tree as it’s in full bloom and its beauty is only fleeting. Yesterday I planted some wild carrot seedlings around my swing so I can swing amongst the flowers later in the year . Of course I will pop in my studio and paint, I find it hard not to pop in most days . On my table today 🤍 . . The view in a corner of my studio where I have been finishing off some Lowry inspired figures. It’s looking quite tidy because I had to tidy before I started painting as it had got a little messy while I had several paintings and little wooden shops all going on at the same time . #morningstories. Well the rain yesterday was torrential. Most of the magnolia flowers are on the ground, battered by the constant rain 🥲(only a year to go before they bloom again). My shed was a slippery mess and the greenhouse was dripping with water. Great for the slugs and snails 🐌 they’re probably having a great year 🤣. Nothing is drying, another large pot is likely to collapse if I don’t let it be. I might have to bring it in the house and work on the tabletop. Really pleased that I’ve gotten into @wirksworthfestival again this year. I also applied last minute for @nottm_contemp summer show but will wait to hear from them 🤞. So yesterday I made a concertina sketchbook for a collaboration with @helenboardman_art . I’d better get some creative ideas going on & add a splash of colour 🖍️The greenhouse is full of veggies waiting to be planted on the allotment which is a muddy bog land. Anyone want to predict how long before we have hosepipe bans? 🤣. Anyway I’m going to get my paints out today and get a few marks in that sketchbook.
