I feel like the year started so good and it just kinda went downhill the last 2 months. Not that it was bad but I just didn't do much (and also didn't want do much). So I escaped into books. I finally entered the Sanderson universe and read the first two mistborn books (currently reading the 3rd). Huge books, so that kept me busy. I haven't given an update on my knee problems in a while cause nothing changed and it just got frustrating writing about it every month. But it's april, which means it's been officially 1 year of me not being able to walk right. And sadly no good news, the doctors still can't figure out what's wrong. It's driving me crazy. On a brighter note, I did plan and book a vacation to stockholm & copenhagen for may and im very excited! Darum geht’s: Hendrik stirbt bei einem Vorfall unter ungeklärten Umständen, zurück bleiben seine Geschwister (sie waren unzertrennliche Drillinge) und seine Freundin Freya. Diese scheint unter dem Verlust zusammenzubrechen und Hendriks Bruder Emil ist für sie da…. Das Buch ist sehr sehr einfühlsam geschrieben, wirklich Gefühl pur, das hat mir sehr gut gefallen und ist generell absolut mein Fall. An der Beziehung zwischen Freya und Emil war für mich nichts verwerflich oder gar schmutzig. Das hat die Autorin wirklich gut rübergebracht. Das Setting und die norwegischen Vibes haben mich auf jeden Fall erreicht und es hat mich definitiv neugierig gemacht auf Land und Leute! Ich mochte alle Protagonisten, bis sie Lene, die Schwester der beiden männlichen Charaktere. Um die wird sich später auch Band 2 drehen, also mal abwarten. Das Buch war für mich auch deshalb sehr gelungen, weil es suspense gab. Es musste ja geklärt werden, wie genau Hendrik ums Leben kam. New Adult Romance mit suspense ist einfach das beste Genre (für mich). Ich hab ein paar Tage gebraucht für das Buch, weil es schon viel Lesestoff war, aber hab mich immer sehr gefreut, wenn ich weiterlesen konnte. I adored this book. While it was a little heartbreaking to not get an immediate fix to the cliffhanger from Empire of Storms, it was a nice reprieve to see different characters' perspectives. I, for one, love Chaol. I don't understand the hate that he gets that I've seen. Look at me, listen to me, when I tell you - he's just a guy. All of his friends have cool powers and can figure things out with magic and haven't had their hearts broken by the most powerful queen to exist. He's just human with very human emotions; shame, guilt, inferiority, pain. He is doing his best with what he was given, and then that gets ripped away from him, too. So yeah, I get it, I'd be grumpy, too. He's so well written and has such fantastic character development in this book that's literally from his perspective. I'll be a Chaol defender until I die 👊🏻. If Nesryn has no supporters? Then I'm dead. She is so cool and yet another strong female character. I absolutely adore that there is someone out there who sees her and loves her the way that she should be loved and cared about. She deserves a million good things, and I'm rooting so hard for her happiness. This book, while about Chaol and his journey of healing, is also about strong women. I mean, this whole series is really, but this book really showcases that other women besides the FMC are strong and badass women, too. I just feel so charged with energy reading about such strong WOMEN?? like, are you kidding me? It's so cool! It's so GOOD! I'm obsessed. I can definitely see how and why people would tandem read Empire of Storms and this book - Tower of Dawn, but I think I'm glad that I didn't at least for this first read through. . muy pocas veces he estado tan conflictuada con un libro como lo estuve con #HappyPlace de verdad no entiendo el hype por esta historia, me pareció la más aburrida y flat del mundo. Creo que el mundo seguiría exactamente igual sin haber publicado este libro. Harriet y Wyn no le han contado a sus mejores amigos que cortaron desde hace 5 meses. Y se reencuentran al tener que pasar una semana en Maine con sus amigos, y pretender que no han cortado por el bien del grupo. Durante esa semana reviven muchos sentimientos y recuerdos. Pero sobre todo se replantean sus vidas y sus miedos. la historia estuvo meh. Creo que o estoy rota por dentro (porque entiendo que es un libro emotivo pero la verdad es que no me movió ni tantito) o de plano mis años de terapia me han funcionado porque me molestaron demasiado la dinámica entre el grupo de amigos, los temas de miscommunication, lo tibios que son todos y los diálogos tan superficiales que me hacían quererme saltar párrafos completos. Los personajes que no son Harriet me parecieron super blandos y sin personalidad, Creo que lo único que me gustó fue la decisión que Harriet toma al final y que por fin decide hacer algo por ella misma. Me gustó porque, sinceramente, es lo que a mi me gustaría hacer con mi trabajo. It was primarily led by Chinese traders, who were called “Sangleys” by the Spanish. The rebellion was sparked by various grievances, including oppressive taxation, forced labor, and discriminatory treatment. Seven Year Slip Review 💛🫧🤭✨🥹🍋 **slight spoilers** This one might be my new all time favorite. Ashley Poston knocked this novel out of the park for me. I felt like I was in that apartment watching Clementine and Iwan falling in love and I couldn’t get enough. But, this book isn’t just about romantic love. Platonic love - family love - all the love, which is what I enjoyed the most. This is a common theme throughout the book. Clementine treasured the women in her life. A girls girl kind of love. Clementine had the largest heart. The way grief is interpreted in this book brought tears to my eyes. Not just regular tears - alligator tears. It was almost as if I lost Analea too. This is the type of book that makes you think about life. Did you bump into the love of your life accidentally on the subway one time and didn’t even realize? Were you on the same trip as your best friend before you were friends? The invisible string theory in full effect here. The Seven Year Slip took me for a whirlwind of emotions. I was giddy reading Iwan’s and Clementine’s love story, sobbing at Clementine’s grief, and had happy tears for her and her girlfriends running around the city grabbing lunches and dinners and large glass of wine (just how I like it). I think everyone should dive into this one because I want to talk about it with everyone I interact with. That’s how you know it’s a good book. Also - the lemon flower tattoo? Bye. 5 ⭐️’s

Tym razem to po raz kolejny potwierdza 👇👇 John Grisham powraca i znowu pokazuje, że nadal jest w formie. Stworzył thriller, który trzyma w napięciu. Jest seryjny morderca, który nie zostawia żadnych śladów po sobie. Porusza się w ciemności jak duch, ale do czasu. Pojawiają się dwie silne kobiety, które chcą zdradzić jego tożsamość. Ta historia to jak nawijanie na szpulę nitki. Im więcej jest nawinięta, tym bardziej wszystko się zacieśnia i komplikuje. Zaskoczeniem jest typ mordercy - sędzia, osoba z inteligentnego środowiska. Nikt, by się nie tego nie spodziewał. Gdy zaczyna prawda wychodzić na jaw, w zasadzie każdy uważa to za kłamstwo. W trakcie czytania trzeba być czujnym na dostrzeganie małych detali, które mogą doprowadzić nas do celu. Akcja cały czas idzie do przodu, jest utrzymywana w dość gęstym klimacie i co najważniejsze trzyma w napięciu. Wszystko ze sobą współgra, nic nie dzieje się bez przyczyny. I really started April with the intention to read more poetry ( #nationalpoetrymonth), but I definitely got pulled into a couple of series I just could not quit. 🫣 So, these are the two poetry books I did read. I’ve had @morganharpernichols on my shelf for a while and finally sat down to read the whole thing. She is the master of words. 😍 INSIDE OUT AND BACK AGAIN will wreck you. 😭 It follows a Vietnamese girl whose family fled during the Vietnam War, but it felt so relevant to here and now. The story is told in free verse and I was ill-prepared for tears. 😭 What’s your favorite book of poetry? 💬
By the Light of the Setting Sun by Laura Rollins is a unique regency romance set in Bath. This story intrigued me right from the beginning with its romance, mystery, and talks about a haunted manor and a family curse. Elizabeth is the perfect match for the handsome and charming Alex. Both have come to Bath for different reasons, but neither one expected a romance to blossom. Their meet cute was adorable and completely set the tone for the story. I love how well they fit together as a couple but also for the love they had for their families. There was no shortage of drama with Elizabeth trying to break the family curse and Alex trying to save his stepsister. The addition of Elizabeth’s Aunt Margaret and Alex’s brothers made me love this story even more. Read For: -Regency period -Dual POV -Courageous heroine -Handsome hero -The families -The romance -The first kiss -The epilogue There were so many good moments that made me laugh one minute and sigh with delight the next. The characters were so endearing and warmed my heart to its core. I was completely hooked to the slightly spooky but not scary vibes of this book. Honestly, this is the perfect fall read and I’m mad that I didn’t get to it sooner. 📖 Book review 4⭐️/5 The ending! Sally Hepworth is a go-to author for me and her latest did not disappoint! Sally Hepworth is so good at developing characters. I felt like I knew Jessica, Norah (with an h 😉) and Alicia. And of course, you’ll love to hate Miss Fairchild or maybe just hate her! This story deals with foster care, abuse, childhood traumas and how we carry it into adulthood. But it also deals with bonds, strength and perseverance. Throw in a narcissist for good measure and you have yourself a great plot! This book will be satisfying until the very last word! Dzisiaj w @kobiecafotoszkola piękny temat na #fotowtorek_kfs radość 😊 Jest wiele rzeczy, które dają mi radość, a z pewnością na podium znajdują się książki. Uwielbiam spędzać czas czytając, kiedy mogę przenieść się do innego świata, odbyć cudowną podróż, często do miejsc nieznanych, do których nigdy nie dotrę, a mogę to zrobić właśnie dzięki książkom 😍 A dziś kilka słów o wyjątkowej powieści. "Oczy Mony" to kolejny debiut, jaki miałam okazję czytać w tym roku. To wyjątkowa powieść, która mnie zachwyciła i z pewnością pozostanie na długo w mojej pamięci. Dziesięcioletnia Mona mieszka w Paryżu wraz z rodzicami. Pewnego dnia dziewczynka traci wzrok. Na szczęście po jakimś czasie go odzyskuje. Lekarze przeprowadzają szereg badań. Okazuje się, że dziewczynce grozi ślepota. Proponują rodzicom wizyty u psychiatry. Ma z nią tam chodzi dziadek Henry. On jednak postanawia, że zamiast do specjalisty, przez cały rok będzie pokazywać jej największe dzieła sztuki w najsłynniejszych muzeach Paryża. Chce, żeby wnuczka, nawet jeśli straci wzrok, zapamiętała kolory, obrazy i odczucia z nimi związane w swoim umyśle. Tak zaczyna się niesamowita podróż, która już na zawsze zmieni życie Mony i jej rodziny. Cóż to była za książka! Cudowna, nietuzinkowa, wyjątkowa! Mogłabym tak długo wymieniać. Autor stworzył wspaniałą historię, która pochłonęła mnie bez reszty. Dałam się wciągnąć w niezwykły świat sztuki, dzięki któremu miałam okazję dowiedzieć się nowych informacji na temat słynnych dzieł, ale też spojrzeć na nie z zupełnie innej perspektywy. Sposób opowiadania o sztuce Mony i jej dziadka był niesamowity. Jest tu dużo ciekawostek zarówno o dziełach, jak i artystach, epokach, w jakich żyli. Zwracają też uwagę na ich głębię i symbolikę.
