Der gotische Bau begann um 1250 und war 1485 vollendet. Die Kirche ist die Pfarrkirche der gleichnamigen Pfarrei St. Gallus Ladenburg. Ladenburg ist eine der ältesten Städte in Deutschland rechts des Rheins. In römischer Zeit gab es eine große Marktbasilika. Von den Franken ging die Herrschaft über Ladenburg an den Wormser Bischof. Im Jahr 787 wurde erstmals eine Kirche erwähnt. Ob es sich dabei um einen Vorgängerbau der heutigen Galluskirche handelt oder ob sie woanders stand, ist nicht bekannt, denn wahrscheinlich gab es schon in der Karolingerzeit mehrere Kirchen in der Stadt. In der Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts begann der Bau der St.-Gallus-Kirche, deren Patrozinium 1299 erstmals genannt wurde. Sie wurde auf der alten Marktbasilika und der Krypta der Vorgängerkirche errichtet. 1412 legte Bischof Johann von Fleckenstein den Grundstein für den Südturm. Wahrscheinlich weil Ladenburg die zeitweilige Residenz der Wormser Bischöfe war, entschloss man sich zum Bau des repräsentativen, zweiten Turms an der Südflanke. Der Glockenstuhl soll 1485 fertiggestellt gewesen sein. As I gaze into the mirror, I’m met with a reflection that I don’t quite recognize. “Why are you following me?” I ask, feeling a sense of detachment from the person staring back at me. In this never-ending quest for “better,” I find myself falling into a trap of self-hatred, constantly comparing myself to an unattainable ideal. But in the midst of this turmoil, I come to a realization: the truth I seek isn’t found in external validation or the pursuit of an idealized version of myself. It lies within me, waiting to be discovered and embraced. So, I begin the journey of self-discovery, peeling back the layers of self-doubt and insecurity to uncover the essence of who I truly am. It’s a process of acceptance and forgiveness, of learning to love myself unconditionally, flaws and all. As I embark on this journey of self-exploration, I’m reminded that the path to fulfillment isn’t about chasing an elusive “better” of life; it’s about finding peace and contentment within myself.
