Happy Feet Soundtrack Happy Feet is a jukebox musical, taking previously recorded songs and working them into the film’s soundtrack to fit with the mood of the scene or character. Two soundtrack albums were released for the film; one containing songs from and inspired by the film, and another featuring John Powell’s instrumental score. They were released on 31 October 2006 and 19 December 2006, respectively. Prince’s “Song of the Heart” won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. The film won Golden Trailer Award for Best Music. The song was written by Prince specifically for Happy Feet shortly after he was given a private screening of the film in order to gain his approval for the use of his song “Kiss” in a musical number. Prince enjoyed the film, gave his approval for the use of “Kiss” and offered to write an original song for the production, which he completed a week later. Happy Feet: Music from the Motion Picture is the lyrical soundtrack album from the 2006 animated film Happy Feet. As of March 2007, the OST has sold over 272,627 copies in the US. Been working quietly away on lots of bits but here’s a pretty epic one from last year I can finally share. Such an incredible experience to work with the @northern_film_orchestra for Paramounts production of Gentleman In Moscow. They have used real musicians and live sound within the scenes which is a brilliant concept. The director wanted the music to be diegetic so we performed live on set whilst the scene was shot. Tune in to see myself singing and @ianwynnemusic on piano in episode 4. 🎬 MEET THE TEAM 🎬 The original score in Calico was composed by the masterful Thomas E Brown of 24 Hour Music @tommy_hotspur Thomas is an EMMY award winning composer working across film and television. His motion picture work includes the Emmy Award-Winning 'The Nightcrawlers' [NatGeo], which was also among the films shortlisted in both the BAFTA and OSCAR 2020 race for best documentary short subject. More recently he has composed across a 4-part series, a documentary and podcast both soon to be released [Disney+/Lemonada] Thomas is the original artist behind ghøstmachine, is one of two composers behind Confessional Beats, and is guitarist, co-writer and producer for Jocee, Roisin Quinn. The brief for Calico wasn’t an easy one! Thomas was tasked with enhancing the playful, mischievous and charming beats of the film, giving a nod to the slightly tongue-in-cheeky drama of school life, adding just a dash of nostalgia, and being a cohesive thread that also works in tangent with the licensed music tracks. Thomas had this to say about Calico: ‘I could say something deep, profound and philosophical but really…they had me at talking fish. 🎶 This next post is a special highlight, thank you and shoutout to, the one and only, Malcolm Fong @fongbeats ⚡️ Malcolm is a music producer and if you like abstract sounding hip hop, classical and rock you will like his sound; He is a guitarist, pianist and specializes in beat pad music placement… Working closely with Malcolm over the years in different projects, I was always blown away with his multifaceted approach to building unique and one-of-a-kind beats, songs and tracks…even using every day objects to creatively pull in “real” and authentic sounds to really bring a piece to life. Malcolm and I met years ago collaborating on original tracks for a TV pilot — His collaborative and artistic abilities made him a fast friend and we later worked together on several music covers. . .
