Today’s cycle: 4 Rounds - 400 or 800m Run 4 min AMRAP: 5 Pull Ups, 10 Push Ups, 15 Air Squats 1min Rest Our split times were basically similar one to another. We did a “800 sandwich” where the first and last sets were the 800m run, and the middle two were 400m runs. We did “cash out” with an 800m run at the end, to bring us to the two miles. Today is Morse Code Day honoring the inventor of the Morse code, Samuel Morse, who was born on this day in 1791. This day celebrates this pioneering method of communication and the invention that was first used to transmit encoded messages. Radiotelegraphy using Morse code was vital during World War II, carrying messages between the warships and the naval bases. Morse code was used as an international standard for maritime distress until 1999 when it was replaced by the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System. When the French Navy ceased using Morse code on January 31, 1997, the final message transmitted was “Calling all. CAL FIRE's MHEM (Military Helicopter Managers) program is a collaborative effort between CAL FIRE and the California National Guard. This program aims to enhance the state's firefighting capabilities by leveraging military helicopters and personnel during times of heightened wildfire activity. When there are multiple wildfires burning across the state and there is a drawdown on resources, CAL FIRE can call upon the California National Guard to deploy its helicopters and flight crews. A CAL FIRE firefighter will be embedded on the helicopter to coordinate water dropping missions. The guard can also deploy for crew shuttle, medevac, and rescue missions. This is an outstanding partnership that continues to grow each year. Each April, those involved with the program meet at Mather Army Aviation Support Facility (MAASF) in Rancho Cordova for an intensive week-long training. This year, three U.S. Forest Service personnel attended the training, as well as flight crews from the Nebraska and Wisconsin National Guard, and personnel from Maine and New York National Guard. Everyone involved in this program shares a resolve to serve the people of their respective communities and a passion for aviation. #Teamwork #NationalGuard
