We come here without fail twice per week, I can’t even begin to describe without sounding cringe how zen it feels driving home after doing this hike and chill 🧘🏽‍♀️🌱🌳 I always do 3 kinds of meditation while I’m here: Walking meditation: taking my shoes off and walking barefoot on the rocks, noticing the sensations and pressure points in my feet. Seated meditation: just normal meditative practice, clearing the mind and holding an internal focus point. Nature sound meditation: listening to the sounds around me near and far and feeling their vibrations in my body. Just laying there with no one to disturb me, no phone signal and just me and the dog for hours is so beautiful and refreshing. Want a bigger brain? 🧠 A new study out of Washington University School of Medicine found that more physical activity correlated with larger brain size in healthy adults 💪 This was based on MRI brain scans of 10,125 men and women (average age 53). The more days they exercised, the larger their brains were in key areas. Most of the study participants exercised 4 days per week, but the researchers said that even small amounts of exercise (like walking 4000 steps per day) were beneficial. New research shows blood pressure in couples is often similar! 😮 Most of us would think that blood pressure is an individual thing, but this was a fascinating study that showed it could be linked to your partner! 💡 The study (published in the Journal of the American Heart Association) looked at blood pressure data from thousands of couples in the US, England, China, and India. Overall, they found that if your partner has high blood pressure, you are more likely to have it too. For example, wives whose husbands had high blood pressure were 9% more likely to also have high blood pressure in the US & England, 19% in India, and 26% in China. My holistic approach to heart health ❤️ February is Heart Health Month, so I thought I’d share a sneak peek into my whole-body approach to cardiovascular health (hint: it goes a bit beyond managing blood pressure & cholesterol!)
