The magic of Morning Dew! 💧🌿 • Each glistening droplet is a portal to ancient tales of healing, protection, and divine blessing. Every sparkle tells a wee story of wonder and whimsy, in Scot’s folklore it’s believed that walking barefoot in morning dew could protect against evil spirits or misfortune. It was (and maybe still is 👀) seen as a purifying ritual to cleanse oneself of negative energy 🌿💫 • For the more sciencey minded, Morning dew forms when the temperature drops overnight, causing moisture in the air to condense on surfaces like grass, leaves, and flowers. Dew can provide crucial moisture to plants, especially in arid regions where rainfall is scarce also moderating temperature extremes by insulating plants from excessive heat or cold. • My girl loves the fairy connection with morning dew so she’s made her own reel to share but tbh I really like to use them for pretty photos and to test the macro quality of my camera lens and my boy just enjoys the sensory of pinching the droplets. When you change the way you look at things, the way you look at things changes.... Forest Bathing invitation: different perspectives On a recent Shinrin Yoku walk I gave the participants an activity in two parts: to zoom in and then zoom out. They were to use mini magnifying glasses to get to know a plant, noticing all the finer details. Then, after some time to switch to a wider perspective, finding a sit spot and taking in the whole view. We need both perspectives in relationships, work and most areas of life. They give us something different. Often the perspective changes how we feel. On our forest bathing session, zooming in, people felt: interested, focused, intense, fascinated, unaware of anything else. Zooming out, people felt: spacious, distracted, expansive, unfocused. I took the entire week off to celebrate my birthday, and it was quite a varied week of all kinds of celebrations! We cherished dear friendships (thank you @kalv_art !) reflecting on growth, expressed gratitude, and welcomed back creativity and intuition. I gave myself a thrilling present by enrolling in the Herbal Introductory Course offered by @herbalacademy . I can hardly wait to delve into the benefits of herbs, the art of making tinctures and salves, and learn about holistic natural health. Lately I find myself craving for a deeper connection with nature; there are beautiful lessons waiting to be discovered for those who are open to seeing, feeling, and listening. I am working more with intuition lately, which has always been my trusty compass. While decluttering once more, I stumbled upon an antique photo album I bought a few years ago. The pictures are magnificent and while turning the pages it truly feels like a travel back into a long forgotten era. Such a wonderful well of inspiration! The people look so happy, and I wonder who they were. The lady with dark hair is called Mrs Calvey and the man with light colored hair is her husband Mr. Calvey. I do think the man with the dark hair must be Mr. Calvey’s brother, because they really look alike. Don’t you agree that these pictures are begging for a new (audio) story adventure? Through some research, I have learned that they stayed at the Hunter's Inn in Devon, Exmoor, England, likely during the 1920s or 1930s. The Inn is still up and running nowadays! Three simple ways to connect with Nature this week: 1. As you go about your daily movements, look up and simply notice the trees around you. The quiet yet magnificent presence they hold on the land. The way they seem to patiently watch it all, sometimes over aeons. Drink in their utter beauty, particularly at this time of year when those who shed their leaves are revelling in the great circle of life, the way we all must experience birth and death time and time again, with a loud celebration of fiery blaze. Just look around at the trees in your world and notice the way they seem to look back. 2. Take a moment to step off your beaten track and get a little closer . Make contact. Palm to bark. Interact. If you have time, sit for a while and let the tree support your back. Don’t be shy. Share with the tree whatever you might struggle to share with anyone else. Trees are living beings and scientists are currently exploring the question of their sentience. We know they perceive sound. We know they can listen. See for yourself. 3. Go on. Hug a tree. I dare you. Don’t worry about what people might think or say. You might be surprised at just how wonderful it is. When you get to forest bathe with your third grade teacher, that’s pretty special💕🌲What a lovely two days providing programs at the Pocono Environmental Education Center🌿🌲🥾🥾🙌🏻 Friday I had the pleasure of leading several women from the Fiber Arts Festival in a forest bathing walk and today I wandered back into the woods with fifteen plant passionate folks to discover the edible and medicinal plants. Mount Stewart. Today I got to spend 3½ hours hanging out in nature at our local #nationaltrustni property whilst my hubby and daughter went into town. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and I'm feeling pretty lucky right now. I was very happy to be able to tick lots of things off my spring checklist including bluebells, celandine, primrose, violets, cherry blossom, rhododendron flowers, catkins and even a small patch of ransoms. There were quite a few butterflies about, sightings included speckled wood, red admiral, peacock and small tortoiseshell. I also some some small white butterflies high up in the trees, they were too far away to see clearly but I suspect they were green veined whites. The birds were singing enthusiastically all around but most weren't visible apart from wood pigeons, robins, rooks, jackdaws and a pair of magpies. I saw a bird of prey flying overhead at one point but I'm not sure what it was. I was very interested to observe a jackdaw striking something hard against the path to break it, I suspected it was a muscle and further along the path I found lots of shells which has been broken open in this way. Mount Stewart is just across the road from Strangford Lough. 1 = view over the lough to Scrabo from The Temple of the Winds. 2 = I love spotting bluebells which aren't actually blue, having a rare generic disorder myself I feel a kind of kinship with these variations. 3 = stalking butterflies, they did not want to be photographed! 4 and 5 = the folly. 6 = forest bathing benches near the folly. 7 = my view whilst lying on one of the benches. I spent around 10 mins just relaxing and breathing it all in. 8 = I did Ploughman's Hill walk for the first time and finally found the red squirrel hide, but I didn't spot any squirrels. 9 = view across the lake. 10 = Bluebells, the thing I most wanted to see today. #intothewoods #intothewoodsigotolosemymindandfindmysoul #timeinnature #forestbathing #natureconnection #naturejournal #healingpowerofnature #mountstewart

🌊🛥 @sanparkstablemountain Marine Unit visits the Grade 7s of the @masicorp English Hub at Ukhanyo Primary 🛥🌊 On Friday afternoon, the TMNP Marine Unit paid a special visit to the English Hub at Ukhanyo Primary, to test the student’s knowledge on Marine Protected Areas, after they had a brief introduction during our #ChacmaChampions holiday programme. The Marine Unit brought one of their vessels with them, and gave the students a tour of their trusty steed. Then the real challenge began, with a very hotly contested competition during the ‘TMNP MPA Shadow Game’ which has silhouettes of various terrestrial and marine animals, found within the Marine Protected Area of the Table Mountain National Park. It was neck and neck, with points being stolen, swapped and lost (with a lot of help from Sea Sally, who flicked a few beanbags into the scoring pouch), but Team ‘The Big Blue’ were the overall winners!
