I’ve just landed home from another epic experience harvesting food and dialling in my bow hunting skills. Massive thanks to @debra.bollinger11 aka Gangster Granny 🔥🏹 for being such an awesome friend and travel companion. It’s amazing to have you in my life. 🌈🌈 Huge acknowledgement to the Wiradjuri country and elders/ancestors who witnessed us. What a potent and powerful land you care for. Thank you! And what to say about our skilful guides @jackspinks_ and @ash_brown94 !! These lads are seriously awesome hunters, real world trackers and amazing mentors. Your knowledge runs deep and spending time with you guys seriously accelerates my learning. I absolutely can’t thank you two dick heads enough!! So serious and so hilarious all at once. I never could have imagined when Ella said she wanted a bow for Christmas I would end up knee deep and in love with bow hunting. The after effects of the hunt is really something else. It seems to sort everything out - my boundaries, my self respect, my integrity and my ability to see who does and does not have my back. Taking the life of another animal is genuinely a sacred act. It’s visceral and as real as it gets. It puts you at the cold front of truth if you’re a meat eater in this world. And in the wash up of it all, the gift of death seems to be the power of life. I’ve had heaps of my friends and community keen to know how to get on the journey also. And I’m keen to get more of us out on Wiradjuri country hunting with Jack and Ash. Deb and I will be taking my kids this time 🙌 so if you’re keen to join us for a SPRING school holidays guided hunt PM me… It will only be a small group so jump on it if you’re keen. 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒔 𝒉𝒊𝒄 𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒖𝒔🌈 𝟐𝟔.𝟎𝟒.𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 Миколаївському зоопарку виповнилося 123 роки, і на честь цього наше (група ВМ-2/1 від @mnau_agrarka ) заняття з годівлі тварин пройшло там🦎🌿 Приїхали ми біля 12-ої години дня — саме в цей час доглядачі розпочинають годування тварин. Спочатку викладач водив нас за заданим маршрутом — в основному нам показували ссавців (особливо котячих і парнокопитних) 🦁. Але птахи теж були: наприклад, півень, який чомусь почав агресивно бігати за мною, хоча я зовсім ніяк не провокувала його, а просто стояла 🐓 Хочу серед ссавців виокремити зебру: ще у самостійному відвідуванні зоопарку я помітила, що він дуже лагідний по відношенню до відвідувачів, завжди намагається підійти 🦓🌫️ Після всього пройденого маршруту викладач нас повів у кафешку, де моя група взяла собі по шаурмі — судячи з щасливих облич, їм сподобалося ✌🏻🌯 До речі, був такий прикол, що до викладача під час обіду підлетів горобець і почав просити їжу. Продавці пояснили, що це птах привчений 🥙🪶 Потім у нас було трохи вільного часу, який я вирішила присвятити його членистоногим. Я прослухала найцікавішу лекцію про догляд і годування метеликів та павуків у зоопарку та задала кілька питань щодо ентомопатологій 🦋🕷️ А ще у приміщенні для членистоногих є пазурі давньої акули — саме вони зображені на першому фото! 🦈🦷 Загалом, мені дуже сподобалося! Миколаївський зоопарк підійде тим, хто хоче єднання з природою! Єдине, про що я шкодую — що не пішла до тераріуму та акваріуму, але це вже наступного разу ☺️💛 𝐏.𝐒. а ще хотілося б покататися поїздом🚂. Different kinds of safety. Part 1. Yesterday I sent out a newsletter (in german) about different kinds of safety (you can find it in my story). And today this topic keeps on working within me. The different layers of it. I was reflecting on the particular kind of safety that i received through my first Vision Quest. I think it was coming a lot from the experience (first time in my life) of true belonging. Belonging to the Earth, the bigger community of beings. And also through this prolonged time (4 days & nights) of undistractedly being with myself, I became much more intimate with myself and all that’s inside me, which in day to day life is often not so exposed, or gets never exposed at all. And this also gave me a deep sense of safety within myself … through the experience of being able to being with it all. The beauty and the pain. I noticed that this all created a kind of safety that is very deep and deeply connected with the fabric of life we are all part of. I can feel it quite clearly right now while sitting here and reconnecting with it. It’s like a deep humm in my body, a feeling of calmness and rootedness and not much thought going on in that realm. I know also that I tend to forget this quality and can get caught up in small picture, but i know this bigger picture is always here. And then there is the safety within our bodies that comes from a regulated nervous system and the pathways to learn how to allow that to happen, from the possibility of building capacity to hold more voltage of life (= paradoxes, pain, challenges and joy and beauty). In a survival situation how you make your PRIMITIVE SHELTER does matter! 🔥🔥 Check out these cool shelters we have built with a host of amazing helpers over the past few years… We’ve had so many out of this world experiences living in primitive shelters. It began with debits huts at Tracker School in America, over 20 years ago. It then moved to Katie living primitively for a full year in a dug in hogan! AND then plenty of other short term survival shelters made from all manner of materials on Australia’s east coast. Including some of the amazing thatched shelters our participants built when we hosted Australia’s only year long wilderness program. 🔥 #myyearwithoutmatches All it takes is a little bushcraft know how, cordage, saplings, bark, thatched grass and even mud. #allnaturalarchitecture There’s nothing quite like sleeping close to Mother Nature in a primitive shelter! Often it feels clunky but wild. Comforting but completely uncomfortable and is best done with a beautiful fire to keep you company. 🔥 If you’ve dreamt of sleeping in a shelter but are not sure where to start come along and join us at Nature ONE in October 🍃 Each night participants get the chance to sleep out and share their story with the group the next morning. It’s an awesome way to start your shelter journey. The journey downward. Maybe self-destruction is healthier. And so Fight Club feels Nietzschean. I enjoy the rawness, the bare skin, the emptiness to be sought there. The search within the dark aspects is not done for guilty pleasure; it is done because in it there is meaning. Meaning deeper than ever to be gain in the conglomerate of self-help books. The descent invokes fear, thus the thrill in courage; nausea, thus the stronger stomach; uncertainty, thus the push to act firmly, self-assuredly; and exposure, thus finding out who you are, that is, what you are made of. The never-ending craving for intensity, so I turn to small deprivations for relief. Intensity derived via the deepening of bonds prove to be the most fulfilling type of intensity, so I am careful. Vulnerability is a self-torture too. Denial of desires: less sleep, fasting, etc.; it is because mental friction makes one stronger (studies show aMCC brain growth). But I am happy; I am not alone in how I choose to live my life and live in my head. Hope is like a sedative. E.g., I’ve been afraid to face my wardrobe for I know that the moment I am aware of an item’s fabric composition, I won't be able to wear it anymore. Knowledge breeds responsibility. There’s an ethical dilemma to my polyester, spandex, acrylic, and nylon clothing: sell them for money, donate the toxic wear, or throw it all away to be incinerated or buried. I almost like the twisted, nauseous feeling inside of me because it means I am facing real resistance. Material possessiveness and identity. Good, an internal battle to overcome, and from battle, strength and self-knowledge. The aMCC does not grow if you enjoy doing the hard thing. Resistance causes suffering, but suffering engenders intensity and the opportunity to overcome. Greatness is the ability of the mind to learn to thrive in any situation. I should choose the hardest option: throw away my toxic clothing but add an intermediate step along the way: slowly replace favorite pieces with a handmade cotton/linen/silk upgrade. I intend to go shopping this weekend for rolls of cloth and slowly begin to sew my own clothing again. We sleep on and wear plastic, it is absurd.

Like the number 7, the circle is often regarded as a symbol of completeness, perfection, and infinity, as it endlessly revolves around itself, without beginning or end. However, in contrast, Pi, an irrational number with an infinite decimal representation, remains inaccessible despite all efforts. This irony underscores the tension between the ideal of completion and the reality of inaccessibility, offering insights into the nature of humanity and the universe. In attempting to draw a circle, however, constantly deviating slightly from perfection, a spiral may emerge. This consideration leads to a deeper understanding of the relationship between the circle, representing perfection and completion - and the spiral, often associated with growth, change, and evolution. The spiral resulting from this attempt serves as a visual representation of human striving for perfection and completion, yet it also reminds me of the beauty of the natural and authentic, which often manifests in imperfection. Often hindered by errors, imperfections, or external influences. Metaphorically, it expresses the infinite process of self-improvement and growth, while striving for perfection and grappling with the realities and challenges of life. Progress often occurs not linearly, but in waves or cycles. For World Book Day, I want to talk about this memoir. I’ve mentioned it before but not recently. This is a snapshot into the lives of a particular family of orcas — before, during, and after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska in spring 1989. It’s also a story about the researchers who love them, particularly Eva, who wrote most of this book while being treated for cancer. It’s poignant and powerful and taught me so much about beauty and suffering and hope and grief, and, and, and … 🥺 As such, it will forever be one of my top 3 non-fiction books. 🐬 The family line of orcas in this book is almost gone, now. As is Eva herself. Learning to blend in. This was so much fun, never felt more in my element than being covered in Earth. This was part of the Nature One course up on Yaegl land, we learnt how to make and layer on mud and dust for camouflage, then we moved through dense bush for half a day as a pack, aiming to navigate back to camp without a map and not get caught by hunters. Felt almost like being a real animal.. 🤔 but it’s crazy how much noise and impact we make when we move through the bush, or anywhere.. the whole animal kingdom knows about us. You know you’ve blown it when birds sound the alarm. Just shows how out of it we are. So the aim was to become part of it again, to move like it moves, go unnoticed. Being silent, walking soft, using cover to blend in. Which is pretty difficult as it’s not habitual, however it did become to feel very natural the longer we were out there. Our crew took it way too seriously, we got back to camp hours after everyone else. We were out there crawling next to logs for cover and waiting for gusts of wind to cover the noise of us moving.
