Our first rotation up to Camp 1 and 2 on Everest was pretty amazing and happened on the full moon. Climbing up and over and through the Khumbu Icefall was like nothing else I have ever experienced. It is a giant maze of fallen,churning,twisting,melting ice and feels like another planet. Talk about feeling small! We left at 1:30 am because the safest time to cross it is when it is the coldest and before the midday sun causes more shifting and possible collapses. We stopped for a puja blessing on our way out of camp to ask for a safe passage and it was very special,I included a video of that here. It was a tough and beautiful day and reaching Camp 1 with its views of Everest,Lhotse and Nupste was exciting. On our second day we hiked up to Camp 2 and crossed amazingly intricate crevasses…natures’s artwork! From Camp 2 I could see the Lhotse face which we will climb on our next rotation on the way to Camp 3. Its sheer face honestly looked a bit intimidating but I’m excited for it too! I will leave for my second rotation two nights from now and will be up there and out of service for four or five nights this time. Today we spent more time on the ice, working on our technical climbing skills while continuing to acclimatize. I knew going into this that the process was time-consuming, but I underestimated how painstaking it would be…. The process requires a lot of patience, something I have little of… I seem to be living the same day, eating the same food, sleeping through the same cold night, and following the same routine over and over again. It’s a mental test of fortitude, that’s for sure! I’m working to make the most of it. I continue to tell myself - “It takes time, for the body to make the necessary adaptations, you can’t afford to rush this, especially at your age! Just relax and enjoy the journey”. The company I am climbing with has 25 Everest permits and we are divided into 3 climbing teams based on several factors, including our arrival to EBC. The first team is made up of all Chinese climbers who arrived at EBC a few days before us. They will leave tonight at 2:00 am for a full rotation, which will include the Icefalls, Camp I, Camp II, “touching” Camp III before returning back to Camp II for another night and then back to EBC. Approx. 4 days. We are scheduled to do the same in two day’s time. Yesterday we participated in a traditional Puja Ceremony. A deeply spiritual and culturally significant event for the Sherpas and those that practice Buddhism and Hinduism. It serves to honor Mt. Everest’s sacredness while seeking blessings for a safe passage, guidance and protection. A Buddhist Lama performed the ceremony which takes place at the base of the ‘Puja’/Alter. The Lama prepared offerings for the Gods, which included food, beverages, juniper branches, incense and other symbolic items that were laid out at the Puja including our climbing gear. These offerings along with various prayers and chants are intended to appease the mountain deities. Now that the Ceremony has concluded, we are “Welcome to continue our upward journey on Mt. Uppdatering Mount Everest: Home Sweet Home, igår anlände Everest-killarna tillbaka till vårt Base Camp-läger. De har sovit i C1 och även i C2 på 6400m. Isfallet som du ser bilder från är otroligt kämpigt att ta sig igenom. Det tog dem runt 10h att nå C1 på 6000m. Ni är så fantastiskt duktiga och kämpiga gänget❤️. Nu är de här nere i BC några dagar för att fylla på med mat och dryck innan nästa rotation som startar den 3:e på fredag. Då klättrar de till C1 sover, vidare till C2, sover, vidare uppför Lhotseväggen upp till C3 runt 7200m. Här stannar de några timmar och acklimatiserar innan de vänder ner för att sova i C2. Nästa morgon ner mot Base Camp. Samtliga mår bra men behöver självklart en bra vila nu innan nästa ännu tuffare runda startar. Tack för att du följer äventyret🙏🏻🇳🇵🇸🇪. Qomolangma 珠穆朗瑪峰。 遷移後的大本營約5100米，其實並不比經過的山口高多少，可是聽到導遊不斷說隔壁團有團友不聽話硬要洗澡然後感冒進醫院不能去，或著曾經有富家女嫁給窮小子，兩人去珠峰大本營沒買氧氣，夜半肥胖的妻子缺氧暈倒丈夫不准導遊帶人走，堅持要看日出，結果要報警才能把人救出～這些駭人聽聞的故事令膽小如鼠的我一路超緊張，如臨大敵，導遊帶我們去裝備店，一直摳門的我也馬上掏出700人仔租了個大的醫療氧氣筒，不怕一萬 就怕萬一（原來我很怕死！）⋯⋯ 結果，整晚安全渡過🙏🏼（感恩），就是鼻塞所以時睡時醒⋯還有衣服不夠抵禦外面凜冽的寒風，晚上連水也不敢多喝一口，怕要離開帳篷上廁所（也因為旱廁實在太臭不想去），所以錯過了在離天空最近的地方看星星的機會（聽半夜兩點外出上廁所的團友說，星空似有層次，很是美麗），連日出也因為零下十幾度而沒出去⋯😅（極怕冷的南方人） 幸好離開時天空晴朗，能清楚看到珠峰的真面膜，不枉我熬了兩日車從拉薩過去⋯⋯ #tibet #qomolangma #mounteverest #himalayas #珠峰大本營 #西藏 #travelphotography #holiday #iphone15promax #timelapse #mountains #china #vacation #lhasa #拉薩 #travel #shorts #nature #natgeo #wilderness
I did it. I could not control my tears when I finally reached at the Everest Base Camp after this craziest trip covering 130km from Lukla in 8 days! I am proud to say that I am deaf Singaporean and I can do this challenge! With support and encouragement from my family, friends, guide @_prakash_jung and porters. I made it to summit EBC! Thank you! Also, I have witnessed the whole trekking adventure with 5 years old Singaporean boy @abyan.irkiz , and we went through every challenges to EBC. He is very amazing!
