Finally after more than one year of work I've finished this oil painting, it's the second cityscape that I paint and the reference photo was taken by a dear friend of mine, around Shinjuku and when I've seen the photo I immediately thought that was really interesting also being a night scene and all those colourful lights and reflections added something that attracts attention, anyway at the same time I thought that was a complex scene, with those light's effects and with really many details and tiny parts to paint like asphalt and stickers, but after few seconds I said to myself wtf I'll paint it equally, that's how this painting began, for challenge myself I decided to paint it small so it's 70×70 cm and for achieve the results I wanted is fully made with glazings. Work in progress (grisaille phase) Before I start giving these two color I am excited to share this grisaille phase. This has been the first time for me exploring this traditional technique and I like it a lot. It’s quite amazing what is possible with just burnt umber and white paint. If you just get form and values right you basically have a decent painting. In the next phase I’m going to spice it up, emphasizing parts with color, and texture and hopefully by doing so make give it yet more depth and volume. I like the commonalities and differences of these two fierce poodles from hell. The white one seems to be in motion ready almost to step forward out of the canvas, while the black one seems immovable like a mountain. Both have their right eye hidden in hair, almost invisible while the left eye lits up seemingly demonic. Anonymus - der Notar der Seele Vor Jahren begegnete ich im Hotel @grandezzahotel in Brno der kleinen Skulptur des Anonymus. In den Jahren darauf zog es mich immer wieder in dieses Hotel um das kleine Kunstwerk zu sehen. Ich wusste nicht dass diese kleine Figur aus gebranntem Ton zum Motiv eines meiner wichtigen Werke werden sollte. Anonymus erzählt die Geschichte von den Aggregatzuständen der Seele Eiszeit - Quelle - Tote Erde - Eruption. Geologische Ereignisse der Erdgeschichte die vollkommen kongruent sind mit den Ereignissen in der menschlichen Seele. Das goldene Diagramm steht über allem, es ist die Form die sich durch Schwingung im Wasser bei 50 Herz zeigt. Und immer wenn sich die Frequenz der Beschallung verändert kommt es zunächst zu Chaos, dann zu neuer Ordnung… Anonymus war so prägend für mich, dass mehrere Werke dieses Motivs entstanden. Drei Werke, zwei besondere Sammler. Finally I was able to see one of the masterpieces of modern Art, the huge Triptychon „Großstadt“ (Metropolis) by Otto Dix from 1927/28. Painted on wood in the style of medival panel paintings it measures 180x400 cm. In the middle there is a dancing couple surrounded by glamorous women and men and a Jazzband.
