Happy National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day! As an animal shelter staff member, pet sitter, animal advocate & activist, I wanted to share these posts before the day ends❤️🐾 As you all know, the Humane Society Of Imperial County @humanesocietyic take in animals from every corner of the community through municipal contracts with over 1,300 animals entering our care annually. Our shelter also provides a low-cost spay and neuter program for all pet owners within our community. At this time we are unable to accept any owner surrenders due to extreme overcrowding in our shelter which has been caused by so many people surrendering their pets and low adoptions. We currently have over 200 animals in the shelter and our facility is built to comfortably house only 80 animals at a time. To make matters worse, our current facility, which was built in the early 1970’s, has begun to fail us. Due to the deteriorating infrastructure of our building, we have major capacity needs & we must find a more suitable solution in addressing the growing unwanted pet crisis before our existing facility becomes completely inoperable. We are running a fundraiser specifically for a new shelter project. A new shelter will allow us to build a facility large enough to accommodate the growing unwanted pet population and provide those pets with a safe and comfortable temporary living environment until they are adopted into loving families. We would also have an overall safe facility for staff, volunteers, and customers. As of 2023, Imperial County has a population of 178,211 people. If each person in the county made a $3 donation once a month for 3 months, or a one-time donation of $9, we can build a modern facility that is climate controlled, comfortable, functional, & spacious! This is a community effort. If everyone came together to make a small contribution all at once, the rate and impact of change would be astronomical! “What you’re doing is not good,” Moses’s father-in-law said to him. “You will certainly wear out both yourself and these people who are with you, because the task is too heavy for you. You can’t do it alone.” – Exodus 18:17-18 In baseball, each person has a very distinct position to play, and it’s easy to see what role each person has. The reason for this is straightforward: one person could not do it alone. Moses, one of the most outstanding leaders in the Old Testament, fell prey to over-extending himself and not delegating tasks to lead better. Moses had become so indispensable to his people that he was working all day trying to solve every problem his people had. This was exhausting, and it took His father-in-law, Jethro, to call him out on it and advise him differently. Jethro was also a leader and a priest and knew a lot about trying to be everything to everyone and how that will burn you out. Jethro gave Moses some great advice that would help him and equip His people to grow independently of Moses. He told Moses to delegate – to pick strong leaders within his people, teach them how to lead, and then send them out as helpers. This way, Moses could still deal with the more significant issues, but He would have helpers for the more minor issues. You cannot do it alone, no matter how great of a leader you are. Trust that God will surround you with people who can help ease the burden of leadership. I think this profoundly explains how we are where we are! All one via! While writing down some thoughts tonight I remembered part of this quote and I had to look it up. We live in many cycles, it can’t always be go, go, go. We need to rest and regather, in every walk of life. Look at the absolute masculine energy in what is going on, not only a scourge on humanity with the many genocides, occupations and oppressions, but all that these are also doing to our planet, our Mother Earth where we hope to live for generations. Oh how we need women leaders who will not just try to be like men in power but who change the energy. Think of the cycle of the moon, new moon builds in energy and size(masculine) until full, then from full to new again(feminine) a time to reap what you have sown, rest and regather for the next cycle. Think of the seasons, spring and summer build to full bloom, then we focus on harvest and hibernate(or we should), planing seeds for the next cycle of the year. Think of your menstrual cycle, from your bleed(you shed, release what is no longer needed, unless pregnant), then a build of energy until ovulation(release of an egg), to harvest(if you are planning conception) rest and regather in preparation for the next cycle. I’m only aware of all these numbers ‘cause I’m doing taxes and It’s only a coexisting incident that’s all right? Jeanie and her wife of 10 years, Crys, live in the Des Moines/Seatac area with their two “official” indoor cats, Budapest & Babushka, and a handful of strays that now call their back deck home. @jeaniekendallrealtor Jeanie is a residential Real Estate broker with Keller Williams Greater Seattle, whom a client once described as a Real Estate “Fairy Gaymother.” In 2018, she left a successful 20-year career in medical practice administration to pursue self-employment as a real estate agent. She wants to help people successfully navigate and, more importantly, enjoy the process of buying and selling their homes. Since starting her real estate business in 2018, with the support of her wife, she has now proudly reached a 100% referral-based business model with approximately 24 closings annually and counts members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community as easily 90% of her book of business. Did you know that this hat, the uniform is a source of pride, for so many men and women! It is no different from the uniforms firefighters wear. No different than the uniforms and the arm service. It is taking me time to realize this … We are all men and women that take pride, and the work that we do. Trainers in the gym, model their gear to show the pride of their muscles and businessmen in an office. Take pride in the suits they wear. All this to say, getting to know the person in uniform goes along way in understanding why they chose the path/ career they are in.
