I pull a random assortment of cards from my yoga decks and then construct a “sequence” from principles learned in yoga teacher training. I often need to throw in a few other poses or movements to prepare for something I’ve drawn or to create flows of movement, but the cards provide a basic structure and variety. I can say that I would NOT have done “locust” had I not pulled that card...and it’s pretty clear I didn’t do enough to warm up the “back body” before my 3 attempts! In a recent podcast with Abbie Galvin, on the topic of yoga home practice, Elena Brower, mentioned that “the mind is the hardest thing to harness when you practice yoga at home” which for me has been the only venue for a few years now since my beloved instructor moved to Florida. Card work has a vital part in my practice. Before and after. When I was finished today I asked the #soulcards2 and #practiceyoudeck to illustrate and further illumine my path to the process taking place as I move, transition and breathe from one asana to the next in I attempt to slow my mind activity down. We ran errands in the morning. Then we came home & each focused on our own thing. My focus was readings & a nap, then writing in my journal & crocheting while Chelle napped. Then we had dinner with friends. Then home again, where I made hot tea, had a bubble bath & meditation. It's been a mostly self-care kind of day that has been rather healing. I feel very blessed. From the Practice You: Daily Awakening deck . . The insight I got from tonight's meditation was about the importance of embodiment, being embodied. Most of the time I live in my head - reading, writing, divination/card readings, grading, worrying, etc. - & I neglect my body. I'm not eating as healthy as I was before, even though I know how much better my body feels when I do. The same can be said for exercise, for spending time in nature, even for laying on the floor petting my dog (which actually did happen during tonight's meditation). I hadn't realized that even in terms of physical connection, I've been a little isolated of late, welcoming it if it's offered, but not, for example, calling my dog to me for pets, like I did tonight, or curling up on the couch with my sweetie. My intention for this moon cycle was balance & love. I think the universe is telling me tonight about one area that is out of balance & needs attention. And reminding me of the importance of emboding my gratitude, not just writing about it. J'ai tellement de choses à partager avec vous mais c'est tellement long de rédiger un article par livre ou oracle, j'ai passé plus de 3 ans à vivre pour mon blog et rien que min blog et j'avoue que depuis que j'ai levé le pied je revis juste pour moi (et ma famille) et j'ai juste pas envie de me remettre dans un rythme de dingue pour qu'en plus au final il y ait peu d'échanges. I don’t usually have a ton of time for readings in the morning as I also have to workout and take the canine familiar for a walk. As such, I have a tendency to just cobble together spreads for my morning readings. Today I pulled a card from the Practice You deck. For fun I decided to go through this week’s decks and look for cards that were predominantly yellow. Easy until I got to the Work Your Light deck which is mostly pink and blue. I tried to resist the priestess card at first and tried to find a different card. Mostly because I haven’t felt up to being in a leadership role as my last one really took it out of me. There was t a better choice color wise so I kept the card in the reading. When I picked up the LWB it opened right up to the page for the Priestess. Okay, okay! Anyone else terrible at receiving compliments? 🙋🏼♀️ Even though I was so appreciative of everyone’s supportive comments yesterday, I woke up feeling unsure of myself. Almost like it back fired! “What if I let these people down? What if I blow it?” Our brains can be devilish this way. . . Immediately I had to shift that thought, so I took some quiet time, and ironically pulled this card from @elenabrower’s deck. I hear you Universe.
