starting the weekend with some GREAT news… i passed my one hour glucose test this pregnancy!! 🎉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ if you were here two years ago you got a front row seat to the ish show that was trying to balance a new, strict diet and exercise (ever have to walk outside for miles in the peak of FREEZING chicagoland weather in your third trimester? it’s a trip) while combating a fear of needles as i had to prick myself four times a day to read my blood glucose levels. it was a LOT, but i managed, like many other moms-to-be do, and i have the utmost respect for every one of us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ however, i’m going to sit this round out. 🙏🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ what i will say is.. while gestational diabetes is really all dependent on the individual placenta that develops during each pregnancy, part of me wonders how much my postpartum lifestyle changes helped get me here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ i never really stopped watching my portions or eating the right amounts of the proper food groups since my pregnancy with alexis. i’ve just been more free around carbs again, and as a result, it wasn’t until my 24-week checkup this week that i’m weighing the same as before i was even pregnant with alexis and that has felt AMAZING. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ i will always advocate for a balanced, healthy diet. follow the food pyramid. follow recommended portion sizes. they’ve been studied by professionals and are recommended for a reason. i’ve never felt so happy and nourished as i have the last few years. it’s as if in addition to everything else she’s given me, alexis gave me that, too. 🩷

Tochter. Wie bereits bei ihrer großen Schwester kommen nun wieder viele Sorgen auf… • Die meisten Mädchen und Frauen kennen es, oft fängt es schon in einem sehr jungen Alter an, diese Blicke & Sprüche von „Männern“. Ob über Social Media ungefragt und ungewollte Bilder von Geschlechtsteilen und anzüglichen Nachrichten, oder im Realen Leben auf offener Straße anzügliche/aufdringliche Sprüche, Blicke oder Gesten. • Wie Schütze ich meine Töchter davor? Ich werde nicht ihr ganzes Leben lang immer an ihren Seiten sein können. Bei mir selbst hat dies begonnen als ich 12-13 Jahre alt war. Mit 14-16 war es wirklich schlimm, und ich habe viele gruselige Dinge erlebt. 19 Weeks 🥭 Kicked off the week in Sesame Place and then home for the rest of the week (donut shop was closed). My nesting / decluttering / organizing / purging of the house is super high right now! I have a million projects I want to start (& usually get very overwhelmed and do none of them) but I think this pregnancy is going to kick me into gear. Still super exhausted and tired. Pretty much pass out the second my head hits the pillow or I lay on the couch at night 😴 feet have been starting to hurt, and little girl is moving & growing like crazy! We had her anatomy scan— she was just living down in my pelvis (super low) and moving a ton!! All my girls loved to stay low and put a lot of pressure on my pelvis 🙃 Everything looked great though 🙌🏼🎀 we confirmed it’s definitely a girl 😉 Six inches long this week and just over a half pound in weight, little girl has gone through a bit of a growth spurt— about the size of a mango! 🥭🫶🏼 A protective substance called vernix caseosa (vernix is the Latin word for "varnish"; caseosa means "cheese") now covers her skin. It's greasy, white and made up of hair known as lanugo, oil from her glands and dead skin cells. Vernix protects the baby's sensitive skin from the surrounding amniotic fluid. Without it, she’d look very wrinkly at birth! The vernix sheds as delivery approaches, though some babies — especially those born early — will still be covered with it at birth. GEBURTSBERICHT 2020 … wie versprochen habe ich mich heute morgen direkt an den Geburtsbericht meiner ersten Tochter gesetzt. Der Geburtsbericht ging über mehrere Seiten, ich habe versucht so kurz und knapp wie möglich zu berichten, habe bestimmt einige Details vergessen! I’ve been thinking about all the things that will change for us in about 45ish days. ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Only so much time with just the 2 of us left.
