🌸 Birth Room Tip 🌸 When your baby is being weighed after birth, photograph the weight on the scales! Not only is it actually quite a nice photo to have, it can also be very handy incase there is an error made. After I had Isaac, we discovered the weight had been written incorrectly on his chart when there was great concern about his weight loss. It was showing as being way over what was normal and I found that all of a sudden I was being asked to express more milk and to top up with formula. But looking at Isaac, he was a chubby little thing who was taking plenty of milk from me and was producing lots of wet and dirty nappies. He was content. I was reluctant to do this, so the midwife didn't sign us off at the usual 10 days. The health visitor came out, and said oh so he weighed "x amount" and is now still only "x amount". Both my husband and I instantly said, no, that's not what he weighed at birth! This is when we discovered that the weight was written down incorrectly. Now, for me it wasn't too bad an experience. Isaac was clearly fine and I wasn't worried. However, if baby doesn't get back to birth weight in the right time scale and start gaining weight, this can result in readmission to hospital, or increase in stress for parents needing to express milk and even supplement. So, pop it on the to do list for your birth partner! Since its almost a new month ... Start of something new ... ✨️ I joined Farmasi towards the end of 2023 in our pre launch phase. I needed a change. My old NWM business just wasn't exciting me anymore. I was losing my love for it and was ready to stop all together. Then I found out I was pregnant and my whole mindset changed. I knew I needed this business to work more than ever. I knew I wanted to provide the best life for my family, I knew I wanted a job that I can work around me and my family and not be glued to a desk for 9/10 + hours a day and feeling constantly anxious, stressed and burnt out. I am still working full time in my current job as I need to 💵💵 and doing Farmasi on top of that but I know this ratio CAN switch. I work with the most amazing, inspirational bunch of stay at home Mums who's career is Farmasi. Imagine 😍 Being paid to do a job you genuinely love. Being paid to promote products you use and love. 🌸 What is a TENS machine? 🌸 This week in my pregnancy yoga and birth prep classes we were discussing comfort and natural methods of pain relief during birth. A TENS machine is one of the things we chatted about. A TENS machine is a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation machine - which means it is a device that sends mild electrical currents through wires attached by sticky pads to your back. You control the frequency and intensity of the pulses using a remote control. The sensations you feel from the TENS, block the pain receptors to your brain and distract you from the intense feelings of your contractions. It's also thought the pulses can help your body release more natural pain relief hormones (endorphins) You can hire a machine or buy your own.
