Knowledge is power, Understanding is authority! There is always a motivation to follow who know road. However, the person who know road might not understand the paths attached to that road. Some paths are on the road but not meant for you. Let me tell you a very short story. During a journey from somewhere to somewhere, the driver knows the road to where his passengers were going to, but he doesn't understand the paths. The journey which was meant to be 2 hours ended up being 7 hours journey because they fell into a trap. He was considered an expert driver because he knows the road. What he failed to understand is the particular path he was driving through. Though it seems perfect because it was well tarred, it was a dangerous path. The lives of the passengers were at risk and some never reached their destination. It's not enough to know the road to success but do you understand the paths in that road. This #wanderlustsunday post has been taken over by Wanderlust 2018! I've been isolating in the house because of the 'rona. It's too cumbersome to drag everything to my quarantine room, so I've been working on 2018 since it's so small! This is the last of roads and paths and it's supposed to be a two page spread depicting past, present, and future. It was kind of fun too! It was meant to be a two-page spread, but I wasn't going to try to work *that* small, so I just did two. The first one has photos representing my past, present, and future, and the "poetry' are cutouts from statements I wrote representing the same. It was interesting to rearrange the phrases back into something else! I do like the found word poetry! The hand also represents past, present, future. I see the hearts depicting past loves, the clouds showing clearer skies in my present, and the sun shining on me in the future. As much as I like working small, these two were a little bit of a challenge. It was a lot of collage, basically making a compass rose. OMG, they are so right about doing the lessons you're not interested in. I had so much fun with this one! Remember, I am working on roughly business card-sized paper, so my options are a little limited. There are all kinds of cutouts and paper punches on this one, embellished with ink. I figured this out...since I'm also trying to do Wanderlust 2018 this year, I'm going to do #wanderlustsaturday posts too! I'm not as consistent with Wanderlust 18, but I'm trying. This is the polar opposite of Wanderlust 2022. I'm using really small papers for this one! And they're loose, so it'll be interesting to have a little box of loose "journal" papers when I'm done. This is actually Week 1 of roads and paths. I wasn't going to post it since it had personal information on it, but I really like how this little map came out. I took it through the Photoshop and wiped out the parts I didn't want to show. Unfortunately, the post format caused the bottom of the map to crop off, but it still looks ok. It's wonky and out of scale, but it was my memory of my childhood neighborhood in the 80's. Everything looks so different now! I get a feeling most of the neighbors that lived near me are proabably passed on (they were old folks when I was a little kid). What facilities do you value and use most? What do you think of the current standard of our facilities? Would our community like to see us reduce the number of assets and invest more into certain buildings? Where do your priorities lie? Vincent’s vast asset portfolio contains six major regional and leisure sporting facilities, including the historic Beatty Park Leisure Centre and Leederville Oval. We also care for 38 buildings, halls, pavilions and clubrooms, as well as 47 playgrounds, 106.4ha of parks and gardens and hundreds of kilometres of roads and paths. It goes without saying that we need to look after our facilities and ensure that they’re safe, but we want to dive deeper into how we can make them more contemporary, attractive and maximise their use. Our challenge is to strike the right balance between maintaining our current asset portfolio including our historic and aged facilities, meeting changing community needs and environment and working within our means. We have created a draft Asset Management and Sustainability Strategy (AMSS) to ensure these assets are well managed into the future. Consultation on the draft AMSS will run for 42 days and will include a series of pop-up events to discuss the strategy face-to-face with me, Council Members and City staff. The first pop-up event will be held at the Native Plant Sale at North Perth Common on 17 April from 8 – 11am, with more events to follow.
