‼️Trigger Warning ⚠️ Discussion about School Shooting/Lockdown/Active Shooter Below ⬇️ Over the past 20 years of my career, I have seen the reports of the many school shootings that have happened across our county. With each one, my hearts break more and more for the victims, the parents, the children, the families, the educators, the law enforcement, the first responders. I try to wrap my head around it and struggle to make sense of it all. In the back of my mind, I’d like to think it could never happen to me. I pray even harder that it never does. But last year it hit real close to home (just an hour and a half away to be exact) when a first grader brought a gun to school. As educators, we do our best to prepare ourselves for the worst case scenario with lockdown drills, but the truth is, you don’t know what you would really do until you’re in that scenario. Given the choice between fight, flight or freeze, I used to think that I would 💯percent choose to freeze. I would play dead, put my head in the sand, or hold my breath until the danger went away. Thankfully I have never personally been the victim of a school shooting, so I cannot speak to the true validity of this film, but watching this movie allowed me to take a different perspective on the matter. It may have just changed my thoughts on how I would react. Watching this young heroine encouraged me to think that I may react differently if, God forbid, I were ever in a similar situation. If you are an educator, I highly recommend you watch this movie, Run Hide Fight. IMO it is life changing…perhaps even life saving. #runhidefight

Salt Lake Community College, the state’s largest two-year college, puts forth three words to its employees and students in the case of a violent intruder: run, hide or fight. These are the same words UNLV posted to its X account when it confirmed an active shooter in December. The advice asks one to exit the area if possible and, if not, to hide instead, with fighting as a last resort. The University of Utah and Utah State University also advise their communities to follow this protocol in the case of a violent intruder. Weber State University uses different, albeit similar, language: avoid, deny and defend. BE SAFE. BE VIGILANT. Unfortunately, we live in troubled times. Active attacks, while statistically unlikely, are very real in this day and age. First and foremost, always practice SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. Simply being aware of one's surroundings is the single best way to quickly identify and avoid dangerous situations. In the event of an active threat, remember these three crucial steps: 1️⃣ RUN: Get away from the danger zone as quickly as possible. Your safety is the top priority! 2️⃣ HIDE: If running isn't an option, find a safe place to hide. Barricade yourself into place, if at all possible. A reminder: YOU are your own first responder! So many people want to know how to help in their neighborhood and community at large. This task list not only tells you WHAT to do, but provides a checklist for training you might want to look into. For instance, if "stop the bleeding" makes you think, "How do I do THAT?" - a Stop the Bleed or first aid class should be in your future. Not sure how to position injured individuals or help comfort them? That first aid course will help you there as well! Even "Call 9-1-1" creates an opportunity if you have children, if you're staying in a hotel, or have new coworkers. How so? Kids should be introduced to the various ways to call, since there are differences in using a cell phone, a cordless landline, and a corded landline (yes, some folks still have 'em). In a hotel? Make time to read the room phone instructions so you know if an access number needs to be used to dial out; new coworkers will need to know this information if your workplace requires you to dial 9 for an outbound line, etc. What about staying safe? Look up a class such as Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) or similar training, and learn the "what" behind the phrase "Run-Hide-Fight". Luchar o morir (2020) de Kyle Rankin Nota: 6 Una mezcla de Die Hard y Elephant con heroïna femenina. ¿O algo más? La película acierta creando arcos, dilemas y rimas narrativas que serán resueltas en el último acto e independientemente de que las interpretaciones no ayuden demasiado determinadas cuestiones se ponen sobre la mesa en la escritura de personajes. Entre otras, la cuestión de la defensa de valores comunitarios para salir adelante como sociedad, el no dejar abandonado a su suerte al prójimo ni al débil, el sacrificio, la superación, el no conformismo frente a la indolencia o el apartar las excusas y el pasado para justificar nuestros actos presentes. Llama la atención cómo gran parte de la crítica la destruyó en su momento. No son buenos tiempos para la incorrección, para mirarnos de frente como sociedad, sin complejos, de manera explícita, para un ejercicio de género que en realidad está hablando más y mejor que algunos films amparados en la supuesta corrección política y el panfleto de turno. Dicho esto es evidente que el film sigue una línea algo conservadora en sus postulados o resoluciones de conflictos (armas, figura masculina salvadora, etc.) Si bien la realización es plana y salvo algún destello no ofrece nada del otro mundo, respecto a la narrativa valoro el manejo del tiempo con los insertos en paralelo en la primera parte, su capacidad de entretener y el suspense generado. Asimismo trabaja la idea del espectáculo constante y a toda costa. ラン・ハイド・ファイト(2020)原題:Run Hide Fight Amazonプライムで鑑賞しました。 初め、主人公の女の子があまりにもフローレンスピューに似ているなと思ったので、あぁこれは彼女の初期の頃の作品かと思って観たら全くの別人(イザベラメイさん)でしたという勘違い鑑賞でした。 が、途中からストーリーに引き込まれ、結局最後まで観ました。無名の俳優さんだらけでしたが本当に観て良かった。 あらすじは、卒業を控えた高３女子ゾーイが、銃乱射事件から高校を救うというストーリーです。 この映画は銃乱射事件を克明に描いているので、日常的にテロに遭う心配のない日本はどこか対岸の火事のように傍観してしまうかもしれませんが、当事者達にとってはかなりセンシティブな内容かもしれません。 主人公の女の子ゾーイは、カフェテリアで発砲が起きた時にトイレにいたので難を逃れます。緊急時マニュアルに則りロックダウンを敷いた学校の先生達は、授業を辞め教室を施錠し、床にしゃがむように指示し体制を守りますが、カフェテリアを占拠したテロリスト学生が教室の一つ一つに声をかけ、強制的にカフェテリアに集合させるので人質が増えてしまう🤷また、アメリカの高校の敷地が広すぎるので、カフェテリアで緊急事態が起きてもすぐすぐ校長達に届かないという最悪な事態になります。 では先生たちは、どこで事件を知ったのか。テロリスト学生が人質学生に撮らせたLIVE配信で知るのです。(こんな事ってある！？) ゾーイはなんとかロックダウン中の教室の生徒を無事に外へ救出させ、最後はテロリスト学生と対峙するのです。 また映画を観て知りましたが、アメリカでは銃乱射事件に備えて3つのスローガンが存在します。この原題にもなっているRun Hide Fightです。 「Run」～何事においても最優先すべきであり、他人に反対されても「逃げる」 「Hide」～逃げる手段がない場合に犯人に見つからないように「隠れる」 「Fight」～逃げられず隠れられない状況で、犯人が向かってくる場合は「戦う」 日本では火事や地震の避難訓練の時に「おかし」という3つのスローガンを小学校の時に聞くと思いますが、アメリカには侵入者やテロリストに対するスローガンがある。 恐ろしすぎます。 またもっと恐ろしいのはテロリストになった元学生たちの動機です。彼らは革命家でもなんでもない。ただ先生に落第するぞと言われ頭に来て鬱憤を晴らしたいだけでは！？と思われるような台詞しかありません。要は明確な理由がない。理由がないのに簡単に人を殺してしまう。 ゾーイは理科室にやってきたテロリスト男子を水素の爆発や、塩酸を顔にかけることで出し抜き、窓際に追い詰めた所を彼女の父親(元軍人でスナイパー)が撃ち落とす。父親は当局に逮捕されましたが、教室の窓に映る娘と目が合い、頷く。なんともかっこいいシーンでした。 こんなことが日常に起こらないとは限らないアメリカってやっぱり恐ろしいと思います。 #映画鑑賞備忘録 #runhidefight #amazonprime

But the thing that fear can do for the survival instinct can be a game changer. The response to a threat is Fight, Flight, Freeze, Comply….. in this situation comply gets you killed as does freeze. However the chemical dump into your system set off by your body’s reaction to threat inducing fear can be your best friend in survival. It allows the body to overcome other fears (height as an example). This is due to your sympathetic nervous system, a network of nerves that helps your body activate its “fight-or-flight” response. This system’s activity increases when you’re stressed or in danger. In response to danger or stress, your sympathetic nervous system can: Enlarge your pupils to let more light in and improve your vision. Increase your heart rate to improve the delivery of oxygen to other parts of your body. Relax your airway muscles to improve oxygen delivery to your lungs. Slow down your digestion so its energy is diverted to other areas of your body. Activate energy stores in your liver to an energy that can be used quickly. All of this can help you in situations where you might need to think or act quickly. Improving for a short time your eyesight, reflexes, endurance and strength. Effectively allowing you to react to a threat and make quick decisions that can increase survivability. These students did just that, due to the bodies automatic response it allowed them to make quick decisions, overcome fears and increase endurance so that they could crouch on that ledge and hide until help arrived.
