For a movie that is 60 years, this is a phenomenal western. Arthur The King by Simon Cellan Jones #CJSays Nice! 3/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐ If you're a sporty fur parent Im sure youll love this movie, Arthur The King was based on a true story about athlete Michael Light (played by Mark Wahlberg) and his unexpected friendship with a stray dog he met during a race. Not into sports but watching this movie gave me adrenaline rush, yung tipong feeling mo pati ikaw kasama sa race, may mga edge of the seats scenes na talaga naman kinabahan ako (that zipline scene!) and very engaging yung journey ng mga bida kaya pati ikaw invested at thrilled kung ano mangyayari next. Mark Wahlberg and Simu Liu did an amazing job for doing this movie! Sobrang effort on their part knowinh hindi naman sila athlete! The dog who played Arthur is so cute! Im not a fur parent pero may part sa akin na kinukurot ang puso ko while watching the dog! The whole runtime it was pretty intense until the last act na tearjerker na sya! Nateary eyed ako! Well overall its a nice heartwarming tale of friendship between a human and a dog! #ArthurTheKing #viewerschoiceph #movietime #moviereview #moviecritic #filmreview #filmcritic #cjmoviereview #cjsaysblog

REVIEWED! JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE FLASHPOINT PARADOX (2013), directed by Jay Oliva, starring Justin Chambers, C. Thomas Howell, Kevin McKidd, and Michael B. Jordan. A far more compelling adaptation than The Flash (2023), just go in with some basic knowledge of DC’s major characters. 7.8/10 ⚠️ SPOILERS BEGIN BELOW ⚠️ This film’s animation is just smooth enough. The style can occasionally look a little too simple, but it works perfectly well most of the time. This allows for some well presented action. The score is rather remarkable during important moments. This is nice to see, considering that’s not the case for most of the other animated DC films like this. This movie actually made me like The Flash. Barry is a decent lead here. The real standout, though, is Thomas Wayne, who is Batman in the altered timeline. His story in this film alone is sad, but knowing Batman makes it even more sad. While the major characters get proper setup, but there are a good few character beats that will go completely over your head if you don’t go in with at least basic knowledge of DC’s major heroes and villains. The only reason I bring this up is because this film technically isn’t a sequel to anything, as it kicked off the DC Animated Movie Universe. That said, the film largely still functions without this knowledge, and I have to give points to the writing for that. My big issue with the plotting of this film is the fact that we never actually see Barry save his mom. This works in favor of the twist at the end, where Zoom reveals that Barry was the cause of the new timeline, but should have been a pretty major character beat, and it’s never explained why Barry seems to have forgotten it.

Spike Lee Retrospective Number 11 - Da Sweet Blood Of Jesus I've never seen the 1973 movie 'Ganja and Hess' that this vampire movie is a remake of (so closely a remake that OG Director Bill Gunn gets a writing credit here, despite passing away years earlier); which should have meant that I'd enjoy this more, with no temptation to unfavourably compare it to the original. Odd then that I enjoyed this even less than Lee's Oldboy remake (when I'd seen and adored the 2003 masterpiece that was based on countless times). After Oldboy flopped, Lee went to Kickstarter to get his next film financed (he didn't want studios interfering like they did on that disaster). The result is an odd tale of rich art collector Dr Hess Green (Stephen Tyrone Williams) who is stabbed with an ancient dagger and wakes to find himself addicted to drinking blood. He ends up falling in love with one of his victims widows; the British Ganja (Zaraah Abrahams) and tries to convince her of the benefits to his bloodthirsty lifestyle. There are lots of good ideas here and I do want to go check the original now. The main problems are all down to the fact this was funded by Kickstarter. I don't mind a low budget production but this feels like a student movie at times. The acting feels wooden (I felt nothing for the 2 leads and it feels weird to have now Oscar winner Rami Malek in a supporting role). Credit to Lee for creating a good soundtrack from unsigned artists but the off kilter camera work felt jarring to me. As did the fact that this was clearly all filmed in the same location. No Spike Lee joint is ever a complete waste of time and there are some good scenes here (particularly a church sequence later on) but most of it just feels long and pointless. A seduction and kill sequence between two women comes across as almost gratuitous and if Spike was trying to shock audiences then he should have made this back in the 1980s. Vampire fans and Lee completists might still have a good time, but for me it's bottom of the list so far. . . . . . . . . . . #dasweetbloodofjesus #spikelee #spikeleejoint #vampire #vampiremovies #vampires #kickstarter #kickstarterfilm #moviereview #moviecritic #filmfan

"Boy Kills World" (2023) Dir: Mortiz Mohr  Stars: Bill Skarsgard, Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Famke Janssen, Sharlto Copley, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, and Andrew Koji  Produced by: Nithibah Pictures, Hammerstone Studios, Raimi Productions, and Vertigo Entertainment  Distributed by: Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions  Runtime: 1H 51M  Rated: R  RT Score: 75%  Thoughts: I was very excited to watch this. From the trailer alone, it looked a lot of fun. Plus, Bill Skarsgard is ridiculous talented individual, love Jessica Rothe from the Happy Death Day movies, and Sam Raimi is one of the producers of the movie.  Well, the first 20 minutes started off a bit slow and some parts were a bit predictable. Rather than that, I had an amazing time with this, it was a blast. Bill Skarsgard was pretty awesome. You know, he is such an amazing actor, he doesn't need any dialogue. Plus, I really enjoyed watching Jessica Rothe in this and it is great to see Famke Janssen.  And love all the action sequences, they were outstanding. Especially when he uses his inner voice, love the humor throughout this movie.  Overall, this is a fun, entertaining movie.  Grade: B  #boykillsworld #movie #film #cinephile #cinema #review #2023 #2024 #moviereview #filmreview #moviebuff #filmbuff #movieaddict #filmaddict #movielover #filmlover #moviecritic #filmcritic #moviecommunity #filmcommunity #billskarsgard #jessicarothe #famkejanssen #samraimi #lionsgate #roadsideattractions #action #comedy #thriller

Música - The filmmaker/writer and star of the movie Rudy Mancuso knew exactly what he wanted to do with this movie and did a great job with it. He is a Brazilian musician who works with puppets and is trying to make it big with that, struggles with his mom, love life, and school. It’s shot similar to Tick, Tick, Boom but not a musical, just more with ambient sounds and dances and whatnot. With lyrics on the walls and an assortment of musical notes throughout the movie. It’s done well and I feel like with a bigger budget this could have been even better. Rudy knew exactly what he wanted and it came out like that. It came out like this was a passion project and you can feel it. I’m sure he pitched this a bunch and finally got it bought by Prime Video. There’s a scene, a one-shot, where he goes through like 6 or 7 sets that’s really impressive, basically like a stage play but a continuous one that was done so well. Overall another good streaming movie to stay in and watch too. #Film #Movie #VOD #Movies #Films #MovieCritic #FilmCritic #Theater #Theaters #NewMovie #Cinema #Review #2024 #2024Movie #Cinemark #AMC #Regal #IMAX #MovieTheaters #Stream #Streaming #1To10FilmRatings #OriginalFilm #Musica #PrimeVideo #RudyMancuso #Comedy #Music #Romance

#QuickMovieReview BOY KILLS WORLD (dir. Moritz Mohr) Got to say I rather enjoyed #BoyKillsWorld. For better or worse, it’s absolutely bonkers and a lot - possibly too much - to take in at times but vibe with it and you’ll have a good time. The hyperactive energy and quirky humour swing wildly from endearing to annoying throughout but when it’s at full speed it slaps pretty hard, with impressively executed fight sequences, cool world building, and Bill Skarsgård fully committing to the bit. I will never look at a cheese grater the same way again though. Score: ★ ★ ★ ½

After watching this film, I have to say, I walked into the theater ready to give this film a 6 or even a 7, based solely on what I had heard and seen of the movie to that point, but this movie managed to exceed even the high expectations that I had for it. It was a riveting character piece about an extremely close freindship between two men that manages to endure, through thick and thin, the better part of twenty years, with Zendaya's "Tashi" being the metaphorical tennis ball that the pair bat back and forth over the course of the film's two hour runtime. The story's timeline does jump around a bit, so you definitely have to pay close attention. The tennis scenes look good, though I think the director got a little too cute towards the end, and speaking of the end, there are definitely some things that get left unresolved in this movie. Despite that fact, the film delivers a smart and earnest portrait of male friendship, in between sets, and it's definitely worth the price of the ticket. #themadscreenwriter #screenwriter #filmmaker #director #producer #contentcreator #youtuber #moviecritic #challengers #zendaya #intheaters

Witnessing the live stage recording of the hit Broadway musical, Waitress, reignited my love for musicals. Sara Bareilles delivers a phenomenal performance as the protagonist. Her soulful and powerful voice perfectly complements the beautiful score, which she herself masterfully wrote and composed. The supporting cast is equally unforgettable, their talents adding both humor and heartwarming touches that enrich the musical's tapestry. The exceptional camera work and direction capture the energy and intimacy of the live performance, making this recording a treasure for any musical fan. The release of this live stage recording is a gift that keeps on giving. It allows audiences to experience the magic of Waitress, even if they can't make it to Broadway. #moviereview #movie #movies #film #filmreview #cinema #review #moviereviews #films #movienight #cinephile #moviescenes #netflix #movielover #moviebuff #movietime #horror #filmcritic #filmreviews #movierecommendation #moviecritic #hollywood #moviequotes #broadway #cinematography #movieaddict #reviews #comedy #musical

For those that are unfamiliar, Late Night With The Devil follows the story of a late-night talk show host who, in an attempt to boost dwindling ratings, brings on an allegedly possessed girl for his Halloween special in 1977. One aspect that I particularly enjoyed about this film is how it all seemingly takes place in real time. This is a rather tricky technique to pull off, because you’re dictated to exist in real-time and forced to maintain a certain level of intrigue and tension in each passing second without the luxury of being able to cut to the next hour or day. In this case, you’re trapped with Jack Delroy from beginning to end as he navigates his 90 minute episode, both live on TV and between commercial breaks. Some films employ this method as a gimmick, but in this case, it actually elevates the narrative to a level it wouldn’t have otherwise achieved. As events begin to escalate, you start to experience the same level of anxiety and confusion that Jack himself faces as he’s obligated to keep the show going, no matter the cost. It’s great editing, excellent writing, and overall a very intelligent way to foster suspense. However, this all would’ve amounted to nothing if it weren’t for the incredible performance from David Dastmalchian, who once again proves himself to be one of the most underrated and under-appreciated actors working today. One thing David is especially remarkable at in particular is portraying a man haunted by thoughts of inadequacy and severe trepidation, which is precisely what this movie required in order to make the story work. The range of emotions necessary to embody a man that’s conflicted by a desire to be seen in contrast of being exposed to the horrors of the supernatural is a very thin line to walk, and yet David pulls it off with beautiful strides. However, I do think the movie begins to lose itself in the third act. Contrasting its previous slow-burn approach, it instead turns a bit bombastic in its presentation, implementing some pretty egregious CGI that heavily removes the audience from the viewing experiencing. But overall, I thought this was a very unique and effective horror film, and absolutely a standout in 2024.

⌗ CHALLENGERS ────  REVIEW i must confess, sports never quite grabbed my attention. tennis? well, it’s not that i had anything against it, but it never quite made it onto my radar. but when Luca Guadagnino’s name is attached to a project, and Zendaya’s charisma lights up the screen, i find myself eager to experience even the unlikeliest of narratives, like that of ´Challengers.’ Guadagnino’s direction is akin to a top-seeded player, fiercely determined to win, delivering each shot like a serve. but what truly astounds is the sheer audacity with which the film unfolds, serving up a narrative that’s part sports drama, part love triangle, and all entertainment. Zendaya, as Tashi, exudes a commanding presence, a former tennis pro turned manager navigating the tangled web of ambition, love, and loyalty. Mike Faist’s Art, her husband and protege, grapples with existential crises while Josh O’Connor’s Patrick adds a layer of intrigue as the former best friend turned rival. the film’s time-shifting narrative, bouncing between past and present, serves up a tantalizing game of emotional chess, where secrets and motivations are as elusive as a well-placed drop shot. Guadagnino’s direction is as extravagant as it is goofy, blending moments of athletic spectacle with simmering tension. yet, for all its ambition, ‘Challengers’ occasionally finds itself tangled in its own narrative web, struggling to maintain momentum amidst the dizzying array of plot twists and turns. but even when it falters, the film’s visceral energy and intoxicating performances keep you firmly rooted in the game. with a pulsating soundtrack courtesy of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, ´Challengers’ is a cinematic experience that’s less concerned with reflection and more with the thrill of the game. it’s a reminder that, sometimes, the greatest pleasures in life are the simplest: the thrill of competition, the rush of victory, and the sting of defeat. in conclusion, while ´Challengers’ may sometimes overreach, it stands as a refreshing departure. despite occasional missteps, its bold ambition is commendable, offering a glimpse of the potential that comes with daring to aim high.

‘Conflicted’ is what Immaculate is. It’s partly an entertaining horror comedy, and partly an almost unwatchable dumpster fire. The nunnery-set story sees a young woman enter an Italian convent where everything isn’t as it seems. There are a few effective jump scares, some gruesome body horror and a slightly creepy atmosphere during the first two acts. At its core, it’s about women’s basic human rights, a fitting theme for religious horror. The screenplay is as predictable as they come, saved to a degree by an absolutely bonkers twist that’s so looney it’s sure to have you giggling. Unfortunately, once all of the cards are on the table, Immaculate turns into a tedious grind for its final act. While we do appreciate that the film avoids all of your typical, done-to-death possession tropes, it doesn’t have enough to say about its chosen themes. Imagine an unintentional B-movie parody of Midsommar, and that’s Immaculate. The cinematography is flat and forgettable, particularly when contrasted to a similar horror film released earlier this spring, The First Omen, to which Immaculate pales in comparison in every possible sense. The script leaves so much to be desired, starting with a failure to flesh out the protagonist’s backstory or even her basic personality. A similarly undercooked antagonist is severely lacking in motivation. The acting wobbles. Initially, Sydney Sweeney is good, subtle, but once things really start going she overacts so badly that a comparison to Nic Cage in Wicker Man isn’t unfounded. Are you supposed to laugh during the climax? The comedy of the final few minutes doesn’t seem intentional, but it’s impossible not to chuckle. Sydney Sweeney needs to start finding better movies soon. Immaculate is pure trash, and it doesn’t hide it. For a good while, this is sufficient enough to keep you entertained. It’s not frightening, though, and that’s a systemic problem in a horror film. It’s essentially a 90-minute buildup to a punchline, which would be fine if the joke ended there. And so Immaculate is left stranded somewhere between disastrous disappointment and decent, disposable entertainment, leaning far more towards disaster.

🎀🎾 challengers directed by luca guadagnino 🎾🎀 finally my first film review on here! it’s been a long time coming🍿 & what better way to start than with challengers !! i had pretty high expectations from this film, especially seeing the hype around it from other film reviewers but wow i didn’t expect to be as blown away as i am. this truly is zendaya’s year 🎀 the score fitted the film so much and added an entirely new layer to the drama and tension, a complete immersive experience. everything throughout this movie felt so deliberate, there was not a single frame or scene that felt like a filler or unneeded. @meggghughes you were SO right girl !!! honestly i could go on forever about this film !! 5/5 for me and a potential new favourite 🎀🩷🎾

Film ini bertema fantasi kerajaan, dimana visualisasinya sangat memanjakan mata. Alur cerita maju mundur, tapi sangat-sangat mudah dipahami. Crawl - 2019 As much as I love Kaya Scodelario, this movie was not as great as I hoped. I tried giving it a chance, I even watched it twice. Too slow of a start for me, but once it got going it gave me some anxiety & some major jump scares. Not really all that great for me. Hoping for a better sequel. 🤞🏻 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Synopsis: When a massive hurricane hits her Florida town, young Haley ignores the evacuation orders to search for her missing father, Dave. After finding him gravely injured in their family home, the two of them become trapped by the rapidly encroaching floodwaters. With the storm strengthening, Haley and Dave discover an even greater threat than the rising water level — a relentless attack from a pack of gigantic alligators. #crawl #crawlmovie #kayascodelario #barrypepper #horrormovies #thriller #naturaldisaster #hurricane #movies #instamovies #flicks #instaflicks #moviebuff #filmbuff #moviecritic #filmcritic #moviereview #movietime #movienight #movielover

#Movie [Your name] 4.5/5.0 Released in 2016, watched in 2017 The romance narrative, which swaps the male and female protagonists between past and present, was intriguing, but it was the visually stunning cinematography that truly overwhelmed, leaving an unforgettable impression and etching the name of Makoto Shinkai into memory.

#Movie [5 centimeters per second] 5.0/5.0 Released in 2007, watched in 2017 Regarding the message symbolizing our lives, likened to cherry blossom petals falling at a speed of 5 cm per second, gradually drifting apart from each other in seeming slowness yet swiftly, Makoto unexpectedly presented it with disarming honesty and simplicity, Yet, this very approach made it even more beautiful and precious, a masterpiece so intense that it's almost regrettable it lasted only 62 minutes.

Civil War (2024) I always love it when a theater experience can leave me on the edge of my seat in anxiety and anticipation. “Uncut Gems” treated me with that experience in 2019, and now, in 2024, “Civil War” is the closest to replicating that. Alex Garland has impressed me with his sci-fi cinema (barring “Men”, however). “Civil War” is perhaps my favorite movie from him. It’s immaculately calculated to build tension through the tactile environment that closely emulates a real doomsday scenario. I appreciate how the details of why this civil war started are left intentionally vague. Instead of trying to establish relevance, the point of “Civil War” is to illustrate the innate animosity of human nature through the perspective of these war journalists. I was hooked by the dynamic construction of the protagonists and their differing motivations. While not too much is done to make them into individual characters, they each have a significant purpose to building out this narrative. There are great performances here as well that alter through the course of the plot. Kirsten Dunst’s apathy begins to unravel in an interesting way as Cailee Spaeny’s conveyed eagerness transitions to perfectly communicated terror. Telling this story from the perspective of the journalists worked so well to progressively challenge the characters and force them into the center of the ensuing violence away from their spectator stances. Alex Garland’s films have always been a visual spectacle, but “Civil War” takes things to new heights. The set design and VFX during the bolder action sequences were some of the most immersive moments of cinematic war I have seen put on screen. The sound design reverberated through my entire body following every gun shot and explosion. It was an excellent way to jolt me into the moment and experience the intensity of the conflict. This is a definitive, one-of-a-kind achievement in filmmaking for Alex Garland. “Civil War” accomplishes a tremendous feat of developing a horrifyingly realistic scenario that details the downfall of Western civilization. 8.9/10

Brick Mansions | 2014 Directed by Camille Delamarre 1 hr 30 min Streaming on Prime Video On this day 10 years ago Paul Walker made his final appearance on the big screen and it unfortunately did him dirty. ‘Brick Mansions’ is a “dystopian” movie where the biggest criminals have taken over the wealthy mansions of Detroit and are rebelling against the government. The government’s solution is to send in Paul Walker as Damien Collier to save the day and deal with the threat. It goes just about as you would expect. Starting at the top, director Camille Delamarre makes his directorial debut in this film has gone on to follow it up with two more bad movies. It didn’t take long in this movie to realize he doesn’t have the gift of directing in his repertoire. Just by reading the plot you will be unexcited to watch the movie. It is convoluted, unoriginal, and down right lunacy. The “backstory” for the characters and the city makes no sense and by the time you finish the movie you are stuck with even less common sense. Paul Walker unfortunately lost his life after the filming of this movie which in turn makes this his final chapter. In history however this movie will be erased for the books and we will all just remember him at the end of ‘Furious 7’. After all this movie is really just trying to be a ‘Fast & Furious’ knock off with a heavier focus on the action side than the racing. RIP Paul Walker. #brickmansions #paulwalker #anniversary #seeyouagain #furious7 #fastandfurious #moviereview #movie #movies #review #film #cinema #filmreview #cinephile #films #moviereviews #movienight #movietime #filmcritic #moviecritic #reviews #movieindex

It has become such a rare sight to see well-crafted and executed shows. Even among everything else that stands out, Shogun is on an entirely different level. Seriously, this is one of the best shows made in the 21st century, and probably one of the best period series of all time. The set and costume design are some of the best I have ever seen, and the amazing directing and acting in every detail elevates the grand visual scale to absolute excellence. The direction and acting are seriously just amazing. Every performance just fits and even Cosmo Jarvis’ eccentric depiction of the Anjin never makes anything awkward. Next to that, Hiroyuki Sanada as Lord Toranaga and Anne Sawai as Marika deliver just breathtaking performances. Sanada has always been a great actor but this may be his magnum opus. The writing is mostly just as good. Every little thing is engaging and the masterfully written dialogue never disappoints. One flaw however for me is the ending, which fell flat and left me just yearning for more. Leaving it at a single season is the correct decision, however, I would have very much enjoyed a more conclusive ending. The cinematography and editing, of course, are on par with everything else. This show just looks good and feels smooth. Scene composition and visual storytelling are great and the same goes for imagery and foreshadowing. All in all, I am a sucker for shows like this. It is certainly together with FX’s The Bear my favourite show of all time and I don't think anybody will dislike this. Shogun is an impressive piece of art and will go down in history. • #cinema #cinemalover #cinematography #cinephile #filmdirector #filmreviews #moviereview #moviecritic #filmmaking #movierecomendation #filmlife #music #film #review #tvseries #filmreview #filmreviews #moviereview #moviereviews #directing #movie #movies #hollywood #editing #filmlover #cinematographer #shogun #shogunfx #perioddrama #japanesecinema #japanesemovie #japanesefilm

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) 👍 The 8️⃣th Coen brothers collaboration. Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney), Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and Pete (John Turturro) escape the chain gang they’re working on when McGill convinces the fellows a buried treasure awaits them 💸 The film is loosely based on Homer’s “The Odyssey” - - hence Clooney’s character’s name: Ulysses = Odysseus. While on the lam, the trio runs into sirens and a cyclops, mirroring the epic poem. One of the best things about this film is the music (T Bone Burnett) 🎶 In fact, the soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2002. I especially love that Tim Blake Nelson got his own Grammy 🏆 After all, he can actually sing - who can ever forget him crooning “Cool Water” in Buster Scruggs?! 🤠 Clooney’s and Turturro’s vocals were dubbed. Two things I wasn’t crazy about in this one however: (a) the movie ends rather abruptly and (b) Clooney was so slick and pretty with an on-again off-again southern accent when it needed to be a consistent Deep South accent. But I still enjoyed the film overall - there are some classic scenes. Also, there’s never been a Tim Blake Nelson performance I wasn’t happy with. He’s such an excellent unsung character actor. John Goodman, Holly Hunter, Charles Durning, Stephen Root (Pan Shot!) also star. Challengers by Luca Guadagnino #CJSays Excellent! 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another easy and no brainer 5/5 rating! Challengers is not just your ordinary sports movie! It shows the good and the ugly side of being competitive most especially in sports! The cinematography and the camera angles is superb! (From the sweat that was captured artistically to tennis ball pov shots) I also love the EDM used here, it added extra intensity to the movie! Zendaya deserves an acting award here! Shes so incredibly good here! Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor were also good and has a chemistry (I giggled actually most especially to "that" scene! It was scorching!). The love story angle is engaging like you wanna know what gonna happened the Tennis match is pretty intense like I was at the edge of my seat during the final act! And oh! That ending!!! Fudge!! The past and the present scenes were blended perfectly and that added extra points to the storytelling! The story is unpredictable like in games, youll never know whats next! Im not into tennis but this movie was able to triggered my interest to the sport! Boy Kills World is like if the Raid had slapstick humour peppered throughout and it absolutely rules! The narration and humour definitely won't be for everyone, there are parts where the comedy doesn't land but I'll be honest, I really dug how off the wall this is. This movie doesn't take itself seriously at all, at least until the final twenty minutes. The action is what most people will pay for and it really doesn't disappoint. As if you'd expect anything less from Raid alumni Yahan Ruhian. It's quite simply a violent, gory treat throughout. The final fight is probably going to be one of the best you'll see this year as well. Bill Skarsgard got ripped for this role and he's impressive as a mute warrior living in the jungle out for revenge on a rich family who murdered his mother, almost like an R rated dark version of Tarzan. The rest of the cast aren't slouches either, Jessica Rothe is great even if they spend too much time hiding her face whilst Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman and Famke Janssen all play the Van Der Koy as deranged as you'd hope them to. Andrew Koji also threatens to steal the show as an unhinged sidekick to Skarsgard. The first three acts of this all plays into this quirky, off the wall, fun revenge quest before what I believe to be an excellent plot twist in the final act. From then on the humour is stripped away and we get a dramatic, violent conclusion to the story. I loved this movie, perhaps more than most will but genre fans will certainly not be disappointed by the constant action scenes throughout the runtime. I'll be watching Boy Kills World several more times as soon as I can get hold of a physical copy. It's one of my favourite movies of the year so far. #boykillsworld #billskarsgard #jessicarothe #andrewkoji #famkejanssen #sharltocopley #brettgelman #michelledockery #yahanruhian #actionmovies #actionjunkie #martialartsmovies #nowplaying #movieroom #moviecritic #movierating #moviebuff #moviecollector #cinema #filmcommunity #moviegeek #moviereview #cinematicexperience

MONKEY MAN (Film Review) Dev Patel’s directorial debut is incredibly intense and brutal! Monkey Man takes the stereotypical idea of a revenge quest and completely reimagines it in so many new and original ways. Physical Acting and Cinematography drives this story, so if you’re a “dialogue only” sort of person, this isn’t the film for you. The action and the scenes pushes the plot forward. The fight scenes alone are insane and really done well. You can see a lot of “Hong Kong Action” inspiration in this film, especially when you compare the films climax to say Bruce Lee’s “Game of Death.” It would also be dismissive to not mention the obvious inspiration from the John Wick franchise. Regardless of the inspiration though, the action is unique enough to stand out on its own. It’s so brutal! Pacing is a little bit slow for about 60-75% of the movie, however, it’s still a good time at the cinema! There’s enough going on in the film where you won’t be completely bored when the action slows down, and that has to do with the suspense and the ambience of the film in general. It’s quite psychological and feels dangerous in scenes, so you’ll be engaged regardless. Monkey Man is probably one of the best action films so far in 2024! • #cinégram #cinemagram #horreurfrance #horreur #horrormovies #moviereview #moviecritic

#MonkeyMan ⭐️⭐️(Out of 4) “Monkey Man” is an action picture that is clearly inspired by “John Wick”. I am starting to get a bit bored with these types of action flicks. The fights are all starting to blend together and bore me. All the characters in these types of flicks lately are so dark and brooding which makes me miss the days of Van Damme and Wesley Snipes. They kicked ass with some flair and a sense of style and humor. Dev Patel makes his directorial debut and shows real skills and gives a dedicated performance. Despite my best efforts, I ended up not loving the new Percy Jackson adaptation. It is enjoyable, but sadly it's nowhere near as good as it should be. Almost everything about the show feels off. The lighting is awful. The night scenes are so poorly lit that I had to turn up the brightness of my screen way up. The action sequences are also a problem. There is almost no buildup to them and they're over in a matter of seconds. There is no danger or suspense because the characters seem to have a solution for everything. The story isn't given room to breathe because it moves at a ridiculously fast pace. Many of the plot points are done on fast-forward which doesn't allow us to get invested in the characters, the relationships or the story. A lot of information and character development has been left out and I feel like if I wasn't already a fan of the books I would be confused as to what was happening. I was also not a fan of some of the changes they made to the books. The show is overall a faithful adaptation, but it does make some bizarre changes that are unnecessary and have no impact on the story. #rickriordan has complained about how the movies made so many changes to the books, yet he has done the same thing to this show despite promising that it was going to stick to the source material, which is very annoying. The cast is a mixed bag. The adult actors do a pretty good job, but the main kids are kinda underwhelming. Their performances are good in some scenes, but in others, they seem stiff and awkward. Ultimately, the new Percy Jackson has good elements, but they can't make up for how poorly it's made. It just left me feeling disappointed. I'm hoping Season 2 will be much better (if #disney even gets to make it). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #tvreviews #tvreview #tvshows #tvshow #percyjackson #percyjacksonandtheolympians #moviereviews #moviereview #moviereviewer #moviecritic #filmreviewer #filmreview #filmreviews #filmcritic #reviews #review #cinematic #cinephile #streaming #reaction #disneyplus #disneyworld #walkerscobell #disneyland #loganlerman #greekmythology #greekgods #camphalfblood
