Dancehall days 🎶 This fading structure has its origins in the early 1900s when the area was still a center for sheep ranching. Now, it stands as the sole reminder of the community of Nansene, and its main residents are the hundreds of barn swallows that swoop in and out of the building and serenade visitors. The view from Nansene also includes four Cascade volcanoes on a clear day: Mount Jefferson, Mount Hood, the top of Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams. - STONESFIELD - I’ve been loving the numerous recent posts featuring an abundance of floral Springtime scenes. After looking through my archives I stumbled across this shot which I took back in early May 2022 in the charming Oxfordshire & Cotswold settlement of Stonesfield. Situated around 10 miles (17km) north west of Oxford, this picturesque rural village is known for its architecture, with many of its historic buildings constructed from locally mined Stonesfield Slate. The name of the settlement derives from ‘Stunsfeld’ meaning ‘Fools Field’. Records show It was named as ‘Stuntesfield’ as late as 1854. The glimpse of Wisteria blooming on this charming cottage really caught my eye. It only seemed to further enhance the beauty of this gem of a historic English village. Now, it stands as the sole reminder of the community of Nansene, and its main residents are the hundreds of barn swallows that swoop in and out of the building and serenade visitors. The view from Nansene also includes four Cascade volcanoes on a clear day: Mount Jefferson, Mount Hood, the top of Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams.
