The Gems often Unnoticed In my last two months in Tadoba, the majority of the time my eyes concentrated on searching for the pugmarks or looking for the stripes. I definitely love Tigers, that's one kind of goosebump which never gets old. But introspecting the last two months of what I found, brought a smile to my face. My love for wildlife started with birds and never faded. Sometimes it prevails dominantly or silently my eyes find a way whenever they are around. Much to my happiness here also I did not miss a single chance to look back to a bird every time I got a chance. Though a lot of times the strong presence of a Tiger kept my eyes glued, but these little beauties never ever missed an opportunity to remind me where it all started from!! “Incredible Stay! This place is truly wonderful! We were here with our 2 year old son and they COULD NOT have been more accommodating. The rooms are gorgeous, the communal bar and dining areas are lovely and the pool is heavenly (it was very hot when we were there). Moses and Ntumbi were amazing! They made our stay so magical! Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made our son's food outside of the normal hours and were just brilliant. The food is excellent! Eating an incredible breakfast whilst watching a massive herd of elephants playing in the watering hole for a good hour is something we shall never forget. The safari was amazing - our guide Paul was perfect and so warm and friendly with our son, keeping him involved, letting him taste fruits and leaves and teaching him about tracking the footprints and just made it a wonderful experience for us all. A month after we left he still talks about 'Paul's truck' and all the animals we saw! Tadoba always amazed us by its hidden treasures. It's not all about tiger Sightings, This time of the year with the heat of 40 to 45 degrees every one expecting rain in the village and other localities. But this heat makes it easy to find the tiger at the time of the safari. We had a safari  in the Belara zone and as usual we got  tigers and besides that we got one sloth bear also. Diederik Cuckoo Edward Bredenkamp The Diederik Cuckoo is a striking bird of metallic green, bronze and white. It is an intra-African migrant, arriving in southern Africa in spring to breed and departing for tropical and east Africa in late summer. It occurs in a wide range of habitats including forests, woodlands and open savanna. Diederik Cuckoos are generally solitary and pairs are only seen together during the breeding season. At this time, the male calls for extended periods, a persistent plaintive song – ‘dee-dee-deederik’, rising and falling in pitch and repeated at regular intervals. Like all cuckoos, the Diederik Cuckoo is a parasitic breeder. They have a wide range of host species but most commonly parasitise Weavers and Red Bishops. After mating has occurred, the female Cuckoo will watch the Weaver or Red Bishop colony for some time, waiting for the hosts to be absent. She will then enter a nest, remove the hosts eggs and lay between 3 and 5 of her own. During the breeding season, she will repeat this several times in different nests, laying up to 24 eggs in total. Possibly the best example of a true safari experience. Often the best sightings are right on your doorstep, without the need for a drive or boat. With the water level this low elephants make easy work of wading into the water and playing around. And with these temperatures who is to blame them. It is safe to say it makes us a little jealous. On this day they played around for an hour or so giving us the best show straight from the campsite. Here at Kasabushi (and in the Kafue National Park) elephant sightings are almost guaranteed though a front row seat like this is a special one. Want to see more?
