WOW - already the first of may and in just under 3 months time schools will be out for six long weeks. Six weeks is a long time for anyone but when you have six weeks of being unable to leave the house, six weeks of dysregulaton and meltdowns, six weeks of things being broken. six weeks of negotiations and peace keeping of doing anything to prevent a meltdown and keep everyone safe. six weeks of that feels like six months. Parents and other siblings need a break! In our area there are respite centres that are over subscribed or they limit who they will take. I want to create a space where any child no matter what their care need or diagnosis is can come band be treated with care and respect and make friends and learn new skills. A break of a coupld of hours once a week can make a huge difference to a family that normally wouldnt be able to leave the house. I know this from experience, during the 6 weeks we take it an hour at a time - i just see the activity to hand and focus on that. I dont look beyond that hour otherwise its too overwhelming. I recently did a poll of teachers and 80% said they were either running circuits or wanted to, but they were unsure of exactly what to do and wanted more training – is this you? If so, this course is for you!! But hurry, you only have a week left to book on. I designed this course to give you a blend of in-depth learning about not only what to do, but why we are doing it, and how to adjust it for your individual pupils. Yes, you can pick up the basics from a free webinar or a book, but I found most teachers/TA’s were frustrated by this and wanted to know more, to gain that real in-depth understanding behind sensory circuits so they could apply it to more pupils. Or they found that circuits weren’t giving the results they were hoping for, and they didn’t know why. Or the activities were not appropriate for their pupils. Or the books used equipment they just didn’t have and there was no money in the budget to buy new stuff! For whatever reason the book or webinar was simply not enough, so this course delves deeper than that. I can give you this knowledge and help you tailor the circuits to your pupils, in your school, with your equipment and space available…. but it takes more time (we can’t possibly cover it in an hour). More time means it can easily be too overwhelming, and I don’t know about you, but sometimes I walk away from a fantastic full day course and think that was brilliant….but where do I start?
