Dads your health matters when it comes to your special needs child and your family. Becoming a special needs parent has its challenges. Special needs parents very often put their physical health aside in order to focus on the needs of their child. But think of your health and your child’s health as intertwined. See if your health isn’t maintained then you’re more likely to develop chronic diseases and that then impacts your ability to care longer for your child. Dads your impact on your child is immense. You promote their autonomy when in comes to grooming, eating, playing, hygiene, etc., you’re helping distribute the care with your spouse, you’re bribing your child to their therapies. Dad, you’re providing a world 🌎 of help and support and love. While our system doesn’t readily evaluate or provide support for fathers, @theepicdadco @theepicdadfit and @specialneedsdadclub is here to help. @epicdadlife @theepicdadco provides dads with exercise videos, programs, and supplements to help you stay and get in shape. It’s busy being a special needs father but your health is also important! You don’t need a complicated 2 hour workout, you need focused right to the point workouts. I’ve seen @theepicdadfit @theepicdadco exercises on their page and I’ll tell you they’re right to the point. I just have dumbbells and 20 mins and I get a workout in. Afterwards I felt calmer and felt like I was more aware and present with my children and wife. And there’s also an online community of dads. Do you own, manage or clean an Airbnb or holiday home? Did you know that Cameron collects from Airbnb’s and holiday homes? He does and he has bins he supplies for Airbnb’s and holiday homes with no costs associated. We all tend to consume more treats and enjoy more drinks whilst relaxing on a weekend away or holiday. This creates more rubbish at accomodation locations and that’s why you sometimes see multiple bins at holiday homes and Airbnbs. Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the automatic employment of 15 persons living with disabilities who underwent formal educational system and obtained degree certificates, NCE, diploma and vocational training certificates. The governor gave the approval in Maiduguri on Saturday at the Government House when he met with members of the Association of People Living with Disabilities. He stated, “I am delighted to note that despite your disabilities, you people are not lazy; you decided to pursue your education, and for this, I want to commend you. I have directed the commissioner of education to process your applications for employment for my approval immediately. Therefore, I want to bring to your kind notice that you should be on the payroll of the Borno Government effective May 1, 2024.” The governor directed the state commissioner for education, Lawan Abba-Wakilbe, to review the activities of all the blind schools in Borno to train more people with disabilities. Mr Zulum also ordered the ministry of eEducation to work out modalities for introducing the teaching of special education courses at the College of Education, Bama. “I am happy that they have obtained their qualifications in different specialisations. Let’s strengthen the College of Education in Bama to start delivering courses on special education,” Mr Zulum said. My eldest daughter surprised me with this whilst we were at a visually impaired event called Magical minds. We had an amazing time doing all the activities that help create a more positive mindset. Although me and my children have disabilities I try and not let this control our lives. We have our difficulties but together as a family of four we can overcome these barriers. BreakAway headed out to the Brindabellas to camp at Flea Creek with Michael, Justin and Paul. Mother nature was on our side, and we were blessed with sunny days and cool nights and a warm campfire. There were plenty of tracks to explore and Huts to see. Our time was cut short in the Brindabellas as the National Parks decided that the conditions were right to do some back-burning. So, we headed off to the Tallaganda N.P. 50km east of Canberra looking for a camp and exploring the tracks. We were planning to camp at Mulloon creek but there were to many people, so we ended up camping on the Shoalhaven river near Braidwood. New Skills were learnt, and friendships made and strengthened.
