Many of us have a natural tendency to want to control our environment as much as possible. We feel a sense of safety and security when we know exactly what is going on and can anticipate what will happen next. However, we also know that time is one thing that we cannot control. Time moves forward, whether we want it to or not, and this can often result in us feeling anxious or stressed when we feel like we are running out of time. Sometimes, when we are feeling uncertain or lost, we may seek advice from others. However, we may not always want to be told what to do. This can be because we don't want to feel like we are losing control, or because we want to make our own decisions without being influenced by someone else. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that we cannot control anything beyond our own actions. We can choose how we interact with others, how we treat the planet, and how we navigate various aspects of life, but we cannot control the outcome of those actions. Ultimately, we must learn to let go of the need for control and embrace the uncertainty of life. 19 years ago, this was almost me. 19 years ago, if it wasn’t for the Bravery of an 8 year old- this would have been me, and my kids would not have had their mum anymore! This was not a one off situation, this had been going on for over 10 years, people in my life that should have picked up on it didn’t, people that did know, turned a blind eye and even today claim to not have known. I was lucky, I was not let down by the system, I was let down by people that should have known better, people that could have spoken up for me, people I trusted that protected the perpetrator and not me. I owe my life to that 8 year old, and I pushed through and continued my life because of the 6 little humans that needed me. It’s time for us parents to step up and do better. 😤 Whether it’s daycare, extended family, or home life, our children are sponges, absorbing everything around them – including negative behaviors. 👨👩👧👦 Parents, let’s stop the cycle. It might seem harmless to tease or pick on our kids, but they don’t always understand when they’ve crossed the line and hurt someone’s feelings when they go to do it to someone else. 🤔 And let’s not forget about those family members who think they’re just being “fun.” Being fun doesn’t mean being unkind. Instead of teasing, let’s connect with our children by playing with them or showing interest in their hobbies and passions. 💭 Before you decide to poke fun at your child, ask yourself this: Would you be okay if it were you in their shoes with all your friends around? If not, it’s time to change course and support them instead of tearing them down. 💪 This might ruffle some feathers but I don’t do filters on this space just real life 😬
