Accumulate merit (through our words and actions, may we engage mindfully so as to increase awareness, lessen self-absorption, disrupt old patterns, and, most of all, soften our minds and open our hearts); 2. Lay down evil deeds (through clear and joyful reflection, actively 'renounce' what no longer serves, and what is, in fact, 'corrupt' and either harmful or tending to harm; 3. Offering to the dons ('feeding the ghosts;' through clarity and increasing discernment, may we welcome the sudden attacks of neurosis because they wake us up; in other words, may we know--if the reaction is in any way hysterical, the issue is historical); 4.
