The Cure is a legendary band to have on here and I really like a lot of their material. This is their fifth album and it still showcases the Post Punk sound the band had when they formed, and I say besides The Smiths and U2, The Cure are the most recognized Post Punk bands on here. The Top - The Cure - 40 anos O disco mais complicado de entender do Cure. Complicado pq é uma bolacha encharcada de psicodelia. Confuso tb pq foi o mais perto que Robert Smith chegou de uma carreira solo. Após descer até o inferno existencial de Pornography (1982) para logo depois abraçar o pop cínico de Japanese Whispers (1983) ainda não se sabia se o Cure ainda era uma banda convencional ou sequer existisse. Nesse meio tempo Robert Smith foi guitarrista dos Banshess. Gravou o Hyaena e montou o Glove junto com Steve Severin. Essa temporada foi crucial no som vindouro do Cure. Se por um lado The Top serviu para redefinir a imagem do grupo, por outro mergulhou a banda em experimentalismo psicodélico caótico. O resultado é muito estranho aos ouvidos acostumados com "Boys Don't Cry". Mesmo ao lado do eterno amigo de infância Laurence Toulhurst, Smith praticamente gravou tudo sozinho. E não parecia estar estar muito sóbrio. Na turnê contou com Porl Thompson, Phil Thornalley e Andy Anderson. Ou seja, finalmente o Cure se tornou uma banda de arena. Vale o resgate de pérolas como "Birdmad Girl", "Dressing Up" e "Shake Dog Shake". Porém seria interessante ouvir com mais atenção "Give Me It", "Piggy In The Mirror" e a faixa título.
