Вчера сходили на спектакль Риф по книге Алексея Поляринова в театре Скороход. Начать с того, что найти этот театр оказалось не так уж просто, потом подъем на 4 этаж по неудобной лестнице. А потом ты заходишь и оказываешься как будто на строительной площадке. Кубы из ОСП, куча людей, гардероб на самообслуживании, рассчитанный на количество людей в 2 раза меньше. Но ладно, если спектакль хорош, многое можно простить. Но.... мы сделали совместное фото для нашего книжного клуба, где читали Риф, получили сразу комментарий "Вы крутые". Так вот, выйдя в антракт, я сразу пошла за своей одеждой, так как не было никаких сил смотреть ЭТО дальше. Жуткая мешанина из всех линий книги, весьма странный кастинг, Гарин, который должен быть мега харизматичным мужиком, оказался хлюпиком. А потом была сцена с аккордеоном и утробным пением Тани - тогда я поняла, что моё чувство прекрасного вышло из чата. Звуковое сопровождение было отвратительным, сплошная какафония. Актёры запинались, как будто плохо выучили роли, да и в целом никакой сыгранности не было и в помине, как будто они до спектакля встретились на первый прогон. Добавить ко всему этому места для зрителей, сделанные из тех же листов ОСП, которые ходили ходуном при каждом движении. То есть постоянно оставалось ощущение, что вся эта хлипкая конструкция рухнет. Что ж, такого неуважения к зрителям никто обычно не выказывает... да и сами стулья были отвратными. За час с небольшим моя поясница стекла на пол, все ныло, рассадка мега плотная, без шансов выйти до антракта. Так вот, на выходе из театра я написала свой комментарий к фото - Мы крутые, а спектакль - нет! Пока что это чуть ли не худший спектакль на моей памяти. 🩵 Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn 🩵 🗓️ Day 23 #oldschoolapril24 #sicksadapril M.A.S.H. Game - Fortune telling I could never have predicted how late I would be with this review. It was my first 5 star read of ‘24, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Now, I know plenty of people don't care for this author/book/main character. Some people seem to hate one or the other so much, I can almost see flames. Believe me, I went into it with very low expectations. The blurb had me rolling my eyes. Like it was trying way too hard to convince me it was different from every other murder mystery. Just like every other murder mystery. At first, it reminded me of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone - which I did not love, despite all the meta-ness of it (which I almost always love) - and I was a little bit bored. But then, a few chapters in - whoosh! Like getting hit by a wave. The game was up. The author is pranking us, and I'm thinking, either I have a quirky sense of humor, or maybe some people just didn't get the joke. I LOVE the way the narrator is written. He is stupidly optimistic and totally unreliable. A drama-obsessed weasel with delusions of grandeur, and I thought he was absolutely hilarious. And all the allusion! I could compose countless Instagram captions filled with the connections and clues I caught and could conjure from this book. But, to make a long story short…before I get too carried away…I can sum up everything I loved about The Fury in three glorious words, “It’s theatre, dahling!” Thank you @celadonbooks for the physical copy QOTD: Did you play the M.A.S.H. game when you were a kid? Did any of your childhood wishes come true? I had some big dreams, and things certainly didn't turn out quite the way I would have liked. But, even when I'm sad, I'm still kinda happy. 🎶 Cause getting your dreams…it's strange, but it seems…a little…well…complicated. There's a kind of a sort of…cost. There's a couple of things get…lost. I’ve been sat thinking about my favourite shows and how lucky I am to have seen this one so many times. From the Arts Theatre in 2019, I’ve been to watch SIX, 26 times with 13 variations of cast made up of the principles and incredible alternates. The photos here sum up the show - its humour and fun, the incredible cast and fans. Six was the first show I saw when theatres were opened with restrictions in December 2020. Six was the first show I then saw once theatres re-opened in May 2021. From West End Live, UK tours, one royal flash mob at the Tower of London, being there to see the pro-shot with the original cast, this show has been one hell of a constant powerhouse and I’m already looking forward to going back.

🎬 MEET THE CAST OF YANGTHOLA 🎭 Introducing Alex Sono (1998, ZA) @alex.sono , a dynamic filmmaker, actor, and musician based in Johannesburg. With a Masters degree in Film from the University of Witwatersrand, specializing in fact-fiction experimental writing and directing, Alex has been making waves since his early days. His acting career began at just three years old, starring in commercials and television shows. Throughout the years, he has graced the screen in popular South African TV shows like *Jozi H*, *Rhythm City*, *Saints & Sinners*, and the South African adaptation of *Ugly Betty*, *UBettina Wethu*. Alex's talent isn't limited to the screen—he's also a skilled theatre performer. In 2019, he wowed audiences at the National Arts Festival after winning the Wits O-Week Festival. He spent part of his Honours studies in film at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden as part of the Linnes Palme Exchange program. His filmmaking prowess includes award-winning documentaries like "The Revolutionary Act" (2018) and "My Father’s Sun" (2019), with a collaborative graduate film selected for the International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) in 2021. The following year, Alex worked as an assistant director for the Joburg Theatre's 60th Celebration. Music is another outlet for his creativity, where he merges storytelling and experimental elements, blending unique sounds and visuals. In 2023, he added lecturing to his repertoire, teaching Experimental Film at the University of Witwatersrand, continuing to build a career as an inter-disciplinary artist. He was left on the bench for a few consecutive matches due to the wrong goals he conceded, and for years, he waited for the day when he would be in the goal again. Fate would put him in the goal again in a match where perhaps no ball would be sent to his goal. These 90 minutes will turn into a period in which he questions his past, experiences, choices, and life with the audience. Goalkeeper Erkan Kolçakköstendil will explore staying within the goal, being a family, being alone, and going out of lines; A game where the audience turns into fans. March brought me to @bravatheater for the first time to see 'Larry The Musical,' @larrythemusical and it was so captivating I returned for another show in April before the limited run ended. 🎭🌟 This powerful performance chronicles the brave story of Larry Itliong and the Filipino American farm workers whose resilience sparked the 1965 Great Delano Grape Strike. 🍇✨ This pivotal event not only reshaped labor rights but also united Filipino and Mexican farmworkers into what became the United Farm Workers in 1966. 🤝🏽💪 Growing up on the East Coast in the Washington DC area, I never learned about these monumental Filipino leaders and their struggles. Now, as a Bay Area resident, I'm blessed daily by the legacy and leadership of vibrant Filipino communities here. 🌉🌟 This area's rich history prompted me to start three ventures: a nonprofit dedicated to my late mother @thecorazonprojectnpo, an AAPI focused life and work coaching business @dalawangbuhaycoaching, and a Fil-Am focused health and wellness social group @filipino.outdoor.adventurers. 🙌🏼💖 A quote from the play really hit home: 'We rise by lifting others.'
