DMS Summer Concert 🌞 On Wednesday 13th July 2022, we had a spectacular selection of performances from our members across our music activities! 🎹 We enjoyed solo performances of violin, piano, clarinet, trumpet, cello and a wonderful singer too! Thank you 🙏 🥁 A band performed a fantastic rendition of Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz! Thank you 🙏 🎻🐓 Red Rooster Advanced Violin group made a special appearance the second night running after the Red Rooster Concert on Tuesday! Thank you 🙏 🎺 The Brass Ensemble, led by our fantastic Trumpet teacher, Mr Alex Cromwell, played two brilliant pieces - Mission Impossible theme and...YMCA! It was too hot for the actions but we enjoyed it anyway! Thank you 🙏 🎷 DMS Orchestra, led by our multi-talented Violin teacher @olahlaciviolin , went big with a nostalgic theme from Rocky and then the Avengers theme - it rocked! I studied art and design, fine art and surface deisgn through The Dartford branch of the Kent Adult Education Centre, progressing to North West Kent College and then finally University of East London. The Style Councillors are the world’s one and only tribute to The Style Council. Formed in 2013 by Darren Fletcher (Paul Weller) and Steve Hayes (Mick Talbot), The Style Councillors have quickly built a loyal fanbase for the group which was Paul Weller’s home for the majority of the 1980’s and where he wrote some of his finest songs. Dani Clay (Dee C. Lee) and Craig Read (Steve White) are joined by the Bad Manners Horn Section and a stellar line up of musicians hell-bent on recreating the sound of The Style Council. After the dissolution of The Jam in 1982, Paul Weller joined forces with Mick Talbot, formerly of The Merton Parkas, Dextys Midnight Runners and The Bureau, to form The Style Council. This has been postponed for now, but we look forward to celebrating another great evening of classical music just as soon as we can. December 2020 Gallery Exhibition @ MJC THE TEXTILE STUDIO The Textile Studio is a group of artists whose passion is experimenting with a wide variety of textile-related media. Their work includes hand and machine stitching, feltmaking, fabric printing, dyeing and other techniques, reflecting their individual approach to textile art. FUTURE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION RICHARD WINSTON Returning to the MJC again for another kaleidoscope of nature photography, Richard Winston brings to life his passion for wildlife and in particular, bird life. Since 2007 Richard has photographed over 1250 species of birds and this collection will bring some of these to the MJC for the first time, along with other delights in portraiture and landscapes. We offer a free private viewing for all exhibition openings to your invited guests (weekday evenings only).
