With May just around the corner I need to get a couple of things done today so that I feel all prepared for the coming Month. For my business: finding some local networking groups to attend in person. Gosh this terrifies me, and I’m still not sure I’m even going to go to them yet, but if I have them in my calendar, I can at least attempt to get there! For my Family: Meal planning the dinners for the next 2 months. What I tend to do is plan 4 weeks worth of dinners that we rotate through for 2 months, it means I don’t have to plan the meals every week, because that was getting tedious, but it also means that I only have to do the food shopping lists once, I just quickly check if we are out of anything, or make a note of things we have run out of as I run out of them, and it makes meal planning and food shopping so much easier! In the not too distant past I said I wasn’t that into reality TV, but it seems that yet another reality TV show has me hooked! 😂 😂 And with only 3 episodes in I can’t believe the controversy BGT has already sparked. I do totally understand why some people are up in arms about seemingly professional acts getting through to the final shows, or getting the Golden Buzzer, but for me it’s not that deep. Rolling into the weekend with the energy of a mum who has a house to clean, a garden to grow and kids to parent! I was beginning to feel overwhelmed this morning about how much there is to do. I actually experienced a bit of mental paralysis this morning and totally zoned out in the car after the school run. Anyone else experiencing this ? In between all the tasks I do for my clients, I am a cat & dog servant, I thought I would count how many times I opened the door for an animal yesterday, and honestly, I gave up… I know I could get a pet door or a cat flap, but I think they can be quite unsightly, so it’s not really at the top of my to do list. But does it? Yeah....not how I thought this week would go. Stepped in a broken piece of concrete off the curb I didn't see crossing Lyon at Michigan Avenue last night after La Boheme rehearsal. Didn't want to fall forward so pretty much sacrificed my foot so I could bend my knees and fall into a table top position and protect Kallum. Tore all my tissues of the middle front back and side of my foot and cracked a piece off of the left metatarsal. Moving around at 35 weeks is already hard....adding not being able to put any weight on this foot is brutal. No lie. I feel defeated. So much to do. End of the season, set up the nursery, working an insanely high stakes crowdfund. To celebrate my lovely Husband’s Birthday, last night I hosted a Surprise Indian Banquet for the Birthday Boy. We had friends round for dinner, it was a fab night! I love home cooking, and I find cooking Indian cuisine from scratch very therapeutic. I love blending the spices and the aromas from all the lovely flavours. I made, from scratch, Onion Fried Rice, Pilau Rice, Tofu Jalfrezi and a Massaman Curry (for those that don’t like a huge amount of heat), and a Key Lime Pie and Eton Mess. I did cheat an buy in Naan, Pakoras, Bhajis and Samosas though. But I also did make him a Coffee Cake (his favourite cake) as a celebration cake. I've been a busy bee over the last few days! Folie 1: ADHS, Autismus & Zeitblindheit Folie 2: Was ist Zeitblindheit? Autist*innen und Menschen mit ADHS sind häufig von der sogenannten "Time Blindness" betroffen. Dabei handelt es sich um die Schwierigkeit, Zeit bzw. ihr Verstreichen wahrzunehmen, realistisch einzusetzen und entsprechend zu planen und zu organisieren. Zeitblindheit dürfte mit den Exekutivfunktionen und der Gehirnstruktur zu tun haben. Studien deuten auf einen Zusammenhang zwischen Zeitblindheit und einem niedrigen Dopaminspiegel hin. Folie 3: ADHS & Zeitblindheit - Zeitblindheit selbst ist kein ADHS-Kriterium, das Konzept erklärt aber einige der typischen Schwierigkeiten von Menschen mit ADHS im Alltag, die auch zu Einschränkungen in verschiedenen Lebensbereichen führen können. Der ADHS-Experte und Neuropsychologe R. Barkley sagte sogar: "ADHD is, to summarize it [...], time blindness" - Er bezeichnet ADHS selbst also als Zeitblindheit, als "nearsightedness of the future", also "Kurzsichtigkeit gegenüber der Zukunft". Folie 4: Zeitblindheit & Unpünktlichkeit - Menschen, die aufgrund von z.B. ADHS Zeitblindheit erleben, haben oft das Problem, unpünktlich zu Terminen und Treffen zu erscheinen. Oder wir erscheinen viel zu früh. Wir können oft nicht realistisch einschätzen, wann wir aufbrechen müssen, um rechtzeitig am vereinbarten Ort zu sein. Da wir vor allem im "Hier und Jetzt" leben und unser Gehirn Reize anders wahrnimmt und bewertet, kann es auch passieren, dass wir zwar pünktlich aufbruchsbereit sind, dann aber noch kurz meinen, Müll runterbringen oder eine Mail schreiben zu können - und kommen am Ende doch zu spät. Folie 5: Zeitblindheit: Wie lange dauert Aufgabe XY? - Betroffenen fällt es schwer, realistisch abzuschätzen, wie lange die Erledigung bestimmter Aufgaben dauert. Das führt auch dazu, dass wir unsere Zeit nicht sinnvoll einteilen können und am Ende entweder Stress haben oder feststellen, dass wir für eine Aufgabe viel zu viel Zeit eingeplant haben. Persönliche Beispiele: Ich schiebe es auf, mein Bett neu zu beziehen, weil ich fälschlicherweise von einem Zeitaufwand von mindestens einer Stunde ausgehe. Oder beginne 30 Minuten vor Feierabend eine umfangreiche Aufgabe.

Ensure you know what you need and for when so there are no last minute panics 💠 Check in with your clients - Drop them a message wishing them a good weekend. This lets you see if they need anything for the following week. After doing these four things, you can log off and not worry, and have a stress free weekend. I love helping people, being organised and I’ve always had a strong desire to be self employed too, so becoming a Virtual Assistant that specialises in Personal Assistant Services seemed like my next logical career move. When I returned full time to the work force in 2018, after raising my family, I found that Administration, Operations and being a Personal Assistant, really was my forte. Then in 2020 the Pandemic hit, and I had lots of time to really think about what I wanted. I have been listening to a lot of podcasts recently, I like to have them on in the background as I’m working, I hate working in silence! I also listen to them in the car when I'm on my own, and I like to listen to them when I get out for a walk too. My podcast tastes are quite narrow I think. I use podcasts to learn about myself, and for a lot of personal development too, I’ve really only scratched the surface of what is available in the world of Podcasts! Currently I’m working my way through the 9 Lives podcast by Cassia Tierney Clarke, it was recommended to me by my little sister, and although there is a lot of focus on Alcohol Dependency, which hasn’t ever been an issue for me, Cassia’s insight into weight loss, mental health, healthy habits and lifestyle, and just her take on life is really interesting for a number of personal reasons. The next podcast on my list is Nikita Thakrar’s Journey with Nikita Podcast. I dip in and out of Steven Bartlett’s ‘Diary of a CEO’ Podcast, James Smith’s ‘The James Smith Podcast’, Fearne Cotton’s ‘Happy’ Podcast, and Kim Constables ‘The Kim Constable Podcast, Nobody Cares Work Harder’ podcast too. World Autism Day! Today is a special day for our family. Both of my boys have a diagnosis of Autism, and we have officially been a part of the Autism Community since my eldest was diagnosed at 4 years old. Those early years were hard on us all, but we learned how to help and support our boys, in a world that is not set up for people who are neurodivergent. Nowadays I don’t tend to be as immersed in the local Autism Community, like I was in the early years. As the boys got older we mainly kept ourselves to ourselves and worked on ways and strategies that supported our boys and helped them flourish. I still participate in some online forums on Facebook, where I can add suggestions and support other parents going through what we went through all those years ago, and I do know some families who have children with Autism, who occasionally ask me for advice and use me as a sounding board. I am so proud of both of my boys. My youngest takes his GCSEs this year, and my eldest is thriving as a Tennis Coach, when we first got their diagnoses we really didn’t know what the future held for either of our boys, and that uncertainty definitely drove me to help them find where they fit in, in the world. They will both go on to use their obsession to build businesses and maybe even empires one day. And for that obsession, I am so relieved, because at one point I thought my eldest was going to be calling me ‘Penny’ (from Fireman Sam) for the rest of his life!
