Save this for ideas! 💪💪 Ladies - protein is one of the most important things to ADD to your diet, Especially if you have goals around building muscle (which is key as we age!) and losing body fat. While most of us in the US aren’t deficient in protein, there’s a good chance you’re not getting in an OPTIMAL amount if you’re not being intentional with it. 👉 A solid goal is AT LEAST 0.7 grams protein per pound of body weight. For a 150-lb woman, that’s 105 grams of protein. While it might feel like a lot, this can be achieved by including ~30 grams protein per meal + a little protein with snacks. Save this cheat sheet so you can hit your protein target 🎯😘

Calling all perfectionists! 🙋 Did you know that a perfectionistic personality type is associated with a higher risk of developing postpartum depression or anxiety? Research has shown that “high perfectionism and particularly high concern over mistakes is a personality dimension associated with major postpartum depression" (Gelabert, E., et al, 2010). Managing perfectionism is easier said than done. Likely it's been a long standing coping mechanism that has probably served you well in a lot of areas of your life. Unfortunately many parents find perfectionism backfires in most things postpartum related. Pregnancy and postpartum can be unpredictable, always changing, and often even when you are doing everything "perfectly", babies don't always cooperate with the agenda. Here are some tips for managing perfectionism. If you find that your perfectionistic tendencies are causing significant distress, please speak to a therapist to help hone some strategies to better manage it. Perfectionism is the cause and the symptom of anxiety.⁠ ⁠ Due to feelings of anxiety and doubt, you may turn to perfecitonism as a coping skill. However, the pressure to do things perfectly only, in turn, exacerbates your anxiety.⁠ ⁠ While there are many ways to manage perfectionism & anxiety, here are three of my favorites:⁠ 1️⃣ Do Things Imperfectly: doing things imperfectly is all about the power of your actions because the more you learn to interrupt your perfectionistic patterns and traits, the more you can learn to show up authentically. ⁠ ⁠ 2️⃣ Practice Self-Compassion because perfectionists are their worst critics. Perfectionists are not kind to themselves. They always criticize their mistakes. Self-compassion becomes a powerful antidote to perfecitonism, where you respond to mistakes, flaws, delays, and hiccups in a loving, kind, empathetic way. ⁠ ⁠ 3️⃣ Connect With Your Inner-Child: learning to unpack the birthplace of your perfecitonism can give you the healing you are looking for. "I would, and I'd love to, but..." ^ I was sick of this being my excuse for so many years. And I hear this from a lot of people, too! The resistance to doing what they love most. Your soul is calling you to do something, take that step, try the new thing -  But all you can think is: "But if I mess up or don't like how it turns out, then it's pointless." So it's better to not even start. (so, so much pain from this. Years of being in paralysis of inaction, dreaming and wishing, but stopping yourself, because your rational mind says it's smarter not to do it...) I've done enough of this work to know that "just do it" doesn't work for everyone. "Just do it!" - "I... can't. I just can't." And freeze. Paralysis. Surrender. 😓 But I've ALSO done enough of this work to know that there ARE ways to overcome this!! SO! Here's 1 way to overcome the internal resistance so you can actually do what you love. (Slide 5) How simple, right? But the key is DOING it. Consistently. Constantly, all day long, switching your thoughts - from the voice of "the other" to your own loving voice. From the cautious voice to the compassionate voice. From the authoritative voice to the encouraging voice. Try it - but give it your all. All day long, switching thoughts. "I can do it. I'm worth it. I'll be so proud of myself. This will feel good. I'm doing this for ME. I'm healing myself." This is important. The world needs your gifts. The only blocks are within you - and you have the power to break them.

Dün akşam taşınmada feci düğüm olan meleklerimi açmak için saatlerce uğraşan Sarp’ı seyrederken bunları düşündüm. O benden daha detay odaklı, ben daha aceleciyim. Dün sabah yeni dairemin kapısındaki isimliği değiştirmek istedim. O küçücük alanı ölçüp oraya göre ne tür bir karton keseceğimi düşündüğüm kısım iyiydi. Sıra yeni kartı yerine takmaya gelince nasıl yapacağımı çözemedim ve zaten bana göre fazla uzun süren bu süreçten sıkıldığım için acele etmeye başladım. Sonunda bıçak,makas, aklıma gelen her türlü aletten destek alarak, kartı zor bela o küçük deliğe soktum ve tam kapıyı kapatacakken yan tarafta kartı kolaylıkla kaydırmayı sağlayacak bir delik olduğunu gördüm! O an attığım kahkahayı duymalıydınız. De andere kant van mijn medailles… Ik deed mijn best, maar het voelde nooit genoeg. Ik streefde naar perfectie, was bang om fouten te maken en voelde me constant overweldigd door mijn eigen eisen. Jarenlang worstelde ik onbewust met negatief perfectionisme en faalangst. En begrijp me niet verkeerd, het heeft me echt enorm veel opgeleverd. Als gedreven militair behaalde ik mijn rode baret, ging ik vijf keer op missie naar Afghanistan en trotseerde ik talloze uitdagingen. Deze ervaringen, met al hun hoogtepunten en dieptepunten, brachten me een berg aan levenservaring. Ondanks mijn successen knaagde er ontevredenheid. De medailles op mijn borst vulden de leegte in me niet. Onbewust joeg ik op roem, status en aanzien, terwijl ik diep van binnen onzeker bleef. Pas na mijn laatste missie viel het kwartje: ware vooruitgang gaat niet over perfectie, maar over acceptatie en het respecteren van mijn eigen grenzen. Terugkijkend besef ik me de pijnlijke impact van mijn streven op mijn familie. In mijn drang naar erkenning betrok ik hen keer op keer achterlatend voor nieuwe missies. Vijf maanden afwezigheid was de norm, wat hen tot onzekerheid en alleen zijn veroordeelde. Na mijn laatste missie voelde ik me drie maanden lang een egoïst. Ik werd geconfronteerd. Mijn dochter van één jaar kende me amper. Ze zag me als die man van dat mobiele scherm en wilde niet meer uit zichzelf op schoot komen zitten of knuffelen. Dit was de harde realiteit achter de drang naar roem, status en aanzien. Ik besloot mijn uniform aan de wilgen te hangen. Daarmee liet ik ook een groot deel van mijn zelfvertrouwen en identiteit achter. Ik moest mezelf opnieuw uit gaan vinden en kon me niet langer verschuilen achter titels en onderscheidingen. Dit was de andere kant van mijn medailles. Ik ben gaan leren dat ik ook deze zijde mocht accepteren en omarmen. Ik veranderde van een negatieve perfectionist, naar een positieve perfectionist. Het was geen eenvoudige reis, maar wel de meest bevrijdende stap die ik ooit heb gezet. Vandaag de dag ben ik dankbaar dat ik anderen kan helpen om van negatief perfectionisme, positief perfectionisme te maken. 🫡 #perfectionist #perfectionisme #mentalcoach

Oordelen is een trauma reactie. Ja je leest het goed. We doen het om innerlijke pijn te vermijden. En iedereen doet het. Alleen het is verre van krachtgevend voor JEZELF. Omdat je met elk oordeel, met elke vinger naar die ander, je de aandacht weghoudt van jezelf. Omdat het daar te pijnlijk is. En we in de diepte daar onszelf afwijzen. En we dus liever die ander maar veroordelen, dan onze eigen zelfafwijzing in het licht te zetten. Een zachte heelmeester voor een stinkende wond. Zo legde ik in een vorige video uit dat een onbereikbare liefde voor mij, ooit de ingang bleek tot mijn eigen trauma heling proces. Klein detail: de beste man bleek getrouwd. En dus wordt ik door vrouwen van mannen die zijn vreemd gegaan nu ‘beschuldigd’ dat ik vreemdgaan zou ‘goedpraten’ om mezelf af te schermen. Voor mij mag dat. Ik vind het prima. Ieder zijn of haar waarheid. Het zegt mij iig des te meer hoe gemakkelijk het is om je eigen pijn te projecteren iemand anders. En te oordelen. Zonder diepgang. Zonder vragen te stellen. Zonder je af te vragen: hé, waarom word ik nu zo geraakt. Wat triggert mij nou zo in dit verhaal? Ik geloof dat dát verantwoordelijkheid nemen is. Altijd onderzoekend naar je eigen gedrag, eigen gevoelens, de eigen waarheid. Want ja, het doet pijn. En daarmee praat ik vreemdgaan verre van goed of geef ik trauma als excuus voor de handeling. Nee. Dat doe ik niet. Wat ik wel doe is altijd kijken naar mezelf. Wat in mij maakt dat het zo’n pijn doet. Niet om mezelf de schuld te geven. Of de ander. Maar om me te verwonderen over de les. Here are the techniques I use with my #highachieving #perfectionists. Need more information on what some of these are? I got you... Bare Minimum Mondays: are meant to give you permission to have 1 day per week where you do not 'overdo' or 'overwork'. This is where you slowly ease yourself into Monday rather than jumping into the deep end and trying to complete everything. Choose the priorities and triage what HAS to get done versus what can be managed throughout the week. Rule of 3 & 5: On the days where you have more time (not as many meetings) pick 3 things to accomplish. On the days where you have longer periods of time (less meetings and obligations) pick 5 tasks to accomplish and work on. Instead of burdening yourself with a major task list, picking a few items helps to feel accomplished and reduce burnout. ‘Yes’ Days: Give yourself one entire day per month where you say ‘YES’ to whatever you want to do. If you have a friend or partner who will also support this try it together! 90 minute rule: Acknowledge that our brains give us about 90 minutes of activated thinking. Working in 90 minute increments and then taking a 5-30 minute break will actually increase productivity! Dumpster Fire Trashcan Method: When you’re noticing that someone else is in a negative space and projecting their fears or insecurities onto you, imagine that there is a dumpster/trashcan on fire in between the two of you. Rather than holding onto their issues, imagine that you are putting their projections and fears into the dumpster fire. Imagine being confronted with a challenge. What is your initial reaction? If you feel uncertain about your ability to handle it, you are not alone. But what if our perception of our skills is the only thing holding us back from approaching a challenge with confidence? We don't have to be a "natural" at something to acquire a skill. Skills can develop because of our experiences and how we choose to engage with them. But at times, our skillset can feel like the most random drag-and-drop scenario, shaped by other people's opinions or what's on our minds that day. I've spent most of my life doubting my resourcefulness, but now I know that I am resourceful—and I believe we all are. The key is to boost our confidence and acknowledge our ability to handle tough situations. This is the reason why I became a coach in the first place. I noticed that many of us do not acknowledge or appreciate our abilities, which leads to us being stuck in unfulfilling careers—preventing us from having a meaningful impact.
