Trentham 5km Parkrun - 23.29 PB Really found it hard to be proud of this! Then feel ridiculous for saying that as it was my best run on this course! Itβs amazing how mind games can totally wipe out a good result! π€― No breakfast, no drink, forgot my myzone, no warm up and only just made it to the start line so Iβm not sure if thats where Iβm feeling beaten plus I ran faster on another run in Tenerife! Parkrun on a Saturday.... Obviously!! Back to my regular parkrun this week, with an easy run including some strides. I've never actually done strides before so didn't really know what I was doing, but following the Garmin coach workouts. Wasn't as bad as I thought but I was still done in after the 7th one. Might only have been 20 seconds of strides for the 'interval' but bloody hell I still felt them! @trenthamestate are trying to enforce a new 'no feeding the water fowl' rule, the DUCK rule. (Even though I'm being told off for feeding garden/song birds, they such teach some staff the difference π . Apparently, it causes different groups to enter another's territory, causing unnecessary distress?!. I don't know what ducks, swans, geese they have been looking at, but I've never really experienced such an issue. Who ever comes up with these ideas, have they ever seen how waterfowl act? never mind feed them. When they have to, most of them get along just fine. The proof is shown above π ...and does not discourage different breeds from making the lake their home or pit stop. I wish Trentham wouldn't hide behind lame excuses just be honest and say what we all already know, they don't like us feeding the birds as it encourages them on to the paths and makes a mess, which they do any way, naturally! π . Teach people, educate people to feed away from the paths. Or introduce feeding zones, a way from the paths? The solutions are there without being over dramatic. Most birds on the lake will stay in their own zones, and not cross territories. Even then, most are 'ok'. There's plenty of food? Have you seen the state of the lake? And what about when it's frozen over? A little helping hand, never hurts βΊοΈ connecting with nature in such a way is also therapeutic. The connection you can have with regulars is quite something to see. Avian flu is low risk and has been for 12 months or more, neither has any been reported at Trentham during the height of the epidemic....but apparently I don't know anything, I'm no expert, this I know, but experience does count for a lot lol. Ps. Is any one going to tell the Heron not to stray into the water voles territory and eat them?
