I’m eager to read it, and I thank @henryholtbooks for the gifted copy.⁣ ⁣ In a CNN interview, McMillan estimated the advantages she’s gained from being White to be $371,934.30. ⁣Wow… ⁣ “Through investigative research, interviews and personal recollections, McMillan examines how racism has shaped her life, as well as the lives of four other White, middle class families.”⁣ ⁣ “It was the one story about White people that I didn’t know,” she says.⁣ ⁣ The White Bonus provides a unique perspective on race, a subject of long term interest and inquiry, while BONE builds my anticipation for 𝗬𝗿𝘀𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘆-𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗱’s upcoming fiction debut, 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛.⁣ ⁣ I don’t dissect poetry; it’s not my forte. What I deeply connect with and love in Yrsa’s words is their truth and authenticity—a quality she shares with Kiese Laymon.
