It comes with seasoned fries and a side of salsa - I've heard people say it's spicy, but if you're anything like me and love extra heat, the salsa is way too mild. The burrito is loaded with soy chorizo, sausage, vegan cheese, hash browns and avocado sauce. It is massive in size, but doesn't feel heavy- which it typical of most plant based foods - so you can continue to enjoy the parks right after eating. You get a lot for what you pay for here and if you're around for breakfast, this is definitely worth a try! Plant-Based Chorizo Burrito at Smokejumper’s Grill in California Adventure. We enjoyed the flavor of this burrito as it had vegan sausage, chorizo, egg, cheese, and hash browns with avocado sauce and molcajete salsa! It is $13 and change and comes with your choice of mandarin oranges or seasoned fries on the side. We went with the fries and (for Disney prices - which we all acknowledge are expensive) this was one of the better deals. 💩 who usually never fills up said that one order for himself would be a substantial breakfast. We split one this time around so we could try it but didn’t want to get too full. There are a few other items we want to try today. We’d give it a 4.5/5. The only improvement would be melting the cheese more but it still had great flavor 😍

BUT during the food and wine festival going on now through april 22, you may be able to use this trick to hack it. at paradise garden grill, they have a vegan loaded baked potato on the menu, topped with vegan cheese sauce. i got it and asked for an extra side of the cheese sauce. they didn’t charge me, but that’s likely because i bought the potato. i will have to go back again and see if they’ll sell a cup of it without having to buy the potato. then, i went across the path to bayside brews and got a mickey pretzel. then i enjoyed! let me know if this hack works for you, and remember to ask the cast members nicely! #disneyland #vegandisneyland #veganfood #mickeypretzel #dcafoodandwinefestival

Hola from California! Actually, I’m back home but wanted to share the two vegan options from the Festival of the Holidays at Disney California Adventure. The first item is available at the Making Spirits Bright booth and is Impossible Chicken Curry Bites, made with coriander chutney and plant-based lemon raita. This was SO. GOOD. Simple, but the chutney and raita elevated it with delicious Indian flavors. I need to try and make this at home. The other option is the Impossible Albondigas from Paradise Garden Grill. We didn’t try this but @boywhohaseverything sent us this photo from his recent visit. There is also a vegan cranberry tart for dessert at River Belle Terrace, all of those items will be available through January 7th. Will you be visiting Disneyland for the Holidays? But slide #3 illustrates what it looks like served at the restaurant. Served in an oversized spoon, it had an oversized meatball and a tiny one... That I ate in excitement before taking the photo... along with both oversized and small rigatoni pasta. It was delicious, savory and tastes super fresh. The new Holiday Swirl Dole Whip consists of a strawberry and lime flavored non-dairy whip covered with festive sprinkles. I was unsure about the big piece of candy at the top, so I gave it to @iamvictoriacamacho -it looks like it may contain gelatin. We have found our first 5/5 food item and it is the Brussels Caesar from Lamplight Lounge 🙌🏼🙌🏼 The flavor of this dish is creamy, the Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly, and it was delicious! It is labeled as a “Bite” at $14. There’s always the increased price being at an amusement park -all things considered - this dish was a good size (compared to some we’ve had in the past) and the flavor was great. Originally 💩 and I were going to get an order of these, the vegan nachos, and one of the vegan pastrami-sliced Impossible burgers but after getting these, we decided to split the nachos and call it a day. We were very satisfied, flavor and meal size-wise. We lucked out with a walk up today. It was pretty mellow considering it is Halloween day, but we will be returning in December for our annual holiday trip and will def check out the pastrami-sliced burger then 😍

Had another chance to try the new plant-based menu from the Studio Catering Company in DCA. These are the Sopes de Chorizo con Papas with Refried Beans, Lettuce, Pico de Gallo with Nopales, Cilantro Crema and Pickled Red Onion. This time around the corn masa base was fresh and tasty! The toppings were really good both times we ordered this dish. We also tried the Desert Pear Lemonade topped with Dragon Fruit and it was really delicious. I dug out every little chunk of fruit, they were so good. I thought this was a nice pairing and I’d get it again. We split a #BlueMilk yesterday to cool down before our long walk back to the car. In case you haven’t heard, it’s a “ #plantbased blend of coconut and rice milk with alluring fruity characteristics” that’s available from the Milk Stand and Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge at @disneyland. There’s also a Green Milk which they describe as having “zippy citrus and tropical characteristics.” These thick slushy drinks will give you a brain freeze if you aren’t careful! 🥶 According to Wookiepedia, “Blue milk, also known as Bantha milk, was a rich blue-colored milk produced by female banthas. It was notably available on Outer Rim planets such as Batuu, Lah'mu, Lothal, and Tatooine.” #GalaxysEdge is supposed to be #Batuu so there’s your tie-in! Darted out mid-week to enjoy the Breakfast Sha-warm-up from Shawarma Palace in Avengers Campus at @disneyland California Adventure Park. This may well be Ryan’s fave #plantbased menu item in the park! Sometimes they run out before we can get to the cart, making it an even more exciting time when we find them in stock. I notice the price has gone up a bit, which is unfortunate but the portion size is pretty generous for #DisneylandFood. Oh yes, take note of the green leaf icon next to the name on the menu board. That’s what indicates an item contains no animal-based meat, dairy, eggs, or honey. 🌱 BTW I haven’t seen the pourable @justegg in grocery stores for a couple months. Surprised to discover that the Studio Catering Co added a new plant based menu item! The last time we were at @disneyland California Adventure Park there was no #veganfood at the food truck which was sad because they specialize in Mexican street food, which we love! Thankfully they’re back now with Sopes de Chorizo con Papas with Refried Beans, Lettuce, Pico de Gallo, Nopales, Cilantro Crema and Pickled Red Onion. Overall pretty tasty, especially that crema but our #sopes were tough and dry, so it was a bit disappointing. Curried Cauliflower from @lamplightlounge Boardwalk Dining. It was delicious 😍 but on the small side in my opinion. 💩 said that if this was at a fine dining restaurant it would have been $40. Price on the menu $14. The tzatziki style sauce is great, we love cauliflower, and the fermented golden raisins were unexpected but surprisingly delightful! Just want to warn you that this is the only vegan item on the Boardwalk dining menu. They will not make the off-menu vegan/plant-based nachos. You can get those and some other items in the other dining space. Because of this we stuck with a drink and ordered the cauliflower to share before heading over to Paradise Grill to try their Plant-based Chorizo quesadilla (check our next post for a review and photo of that). If I had to rank it it 4/5 (great flavor but minus points for size/cost)
Last weekend I enjoyed another visit to the cabanas at Disney’s Grand Californian! 🐻 I thought this would be the day I finally try the Impossible mushroom pizza for the first time (I’ve waited 4 years 😂) but the server told me there were some recent ingredient changes, and the current crust recipe is not vegan. She offered me an off-menu Impossible burger with fries instead, which was still delicious! To drink, I had the craftsman garden (10/10, will order again): mezcal, lemon juice, agave & muddled blackberries. Thanks Steve & Chris for inviting me!

The best meal ever from my favorite restaurant on site at Disney’s California Adventure, the Lamplight Lounge. If you haven’t been to this place you absolutely have to check it out. It’s totally Pixar themed, everything from the drinks to the ambiance, and it’s the perfect place to chill out next to the water off of Pixar Pier after a long day at the park. 📍Disneyland We took our kids to Disneyland yesterday and had a blast! What we ate: ✅ Dole Whip (found in Adventureland) ✅ the meatballs and grits at River Belle Terrace in Frontier Land. This was delicious! ✅ we ordered the BBQ Tofu from the River Belle Terrace as well. My son and I didn’t like it, but still posting in case someone else may. Guess who finally made it back to DCA and the @disneylandmagickey Terrace? This week @disneyland finally let the locals only pass holders back into the park so Ryan got us reservations at both the park and this restaurant. We opted for a sunset RSVP though we were seated a half hour later than the time we claimed so it was mostly dark already. Ryan shine his phone light on our meal so you guys could see it! This was the first time we tried the Heimlich’s Chew Chew Juice (lol) and OMG it was so delish! The combo of watermelon juice and apple syrup was totally refreshing and tasted super summery. I can’t believe we didn’t try it earlier! The Impossible Sicilian Meatball Flatbread wasn’t quite as good as usual but it was still pretty yummy and it’s the only #plantbased option in the menu currently so… We were super tired from lack of sleep this week due to several external factors. We just wanted a relaxing meal and some nice vibes, which we got through the view of all the lights of DCA. No rides for us, just food and drink and a wee stroll. ✨Non-Dairy Hot Fudge Sundae✨ 💩 and I were at the parks this last week for our anniversary and we had to try this newer menu item at the Ghirardelli in California Adventure! This is vegan as is! Boy is it decadent. *It is quite pricey too at $18. For us, we always like to try things at least once but something like this will be enjoyed on occasion.* Comes with vanilla ice cream, fudge, whipped cream, sliced almonds, a cherry, and a dark chocolate square. The ice cream is coconut based while the fudge and whipped cream are almond based.
