Looking for somewhere local for Sunday brunch? ๐ Wee Bear Cafe, Lintrathen, Angus. Iโm definitely familiar with this beaut little rural cafe as my school bus used to drive past here everyday. Itโs in the cutest tiny wee village with stunning views over The Loch Of Lintrathen. I like that the menu is quite quirky and different ๐ฅฐ and we all really enjoyed our brunch: - I had the Loaded Breakfast Scone (homemade cheese scone topped with cream cheese, a poached egg and served with salsa and hot sauce). Super tasty combo! - my sister had the Bacon Scuffin (warmed blueberry scone, cream cheese and smoked bacon drizzled with maple syrup!). - my mum had Bears Bombay burrito (sesame and garlic flatbread filled with curried potatoes, pickled onions and so much more!! It was very flavoursome). The coffees were really good too and they always have a massive selection of homemade bakes ๐ we always have to take a bit of the blondie home! Iโve been loads of times and never actually met the famous โBearโ before but I was delighted when he came to join us this time. He is just super cute and really friendly and I love that itโs such a doggy venue! They have recently done a huge revamp and have a fabulous space now for evening dining. Sightseeing Saturday: Ardestie Earth House, likely built in the first two centuries AD, is an underground passage over 24m long, with a stone-lined drain in its floor. Excavations in 1949 and 1950 revealed a complex of buildings at ground level, with access to the earth house within one building. People have speculated on the use of earth houses, but the variation in shape and size across Scotland suggest there was no single consistent use. One suggestion is that they were used for storage. Visit and explore the ancient underground passage and trace the remains of long-abandoned buildings.

Friday's Fascinating Fact: The Forfar bridie was first made in the 1820's. The horseshoe shaped pastry was known as the Brideโs meal, hence the lucky horseshoe shape. The bridie is filled with beef, onions and seasoning. Admin and breakfast at @townhousearb ๐ปโ๏ธ Part of my quest for Women in Angus, was not only to bring local women together to socialise and make friends, but to start exploring local venues and hopefully bring a little business back to places. I have recently discovered @townhousearb as it came highly recommended. We held our Cocktail Evening Event there recently and will be holding some regular meetings here such as our LGBT group in the near future, but itโs also really nice to just go sit in there on a weekday for a quiet latte and catch up on some admin! ๐2024 Arbroath Cliff Trail updates๐ As we enter our 5th year we have some updates for the 2024 season and we'd love some of your input๐ The past few years have been amazing and it is lovely to walk the cliffs and see visitors using the flyers/sign to improve their visit to Arbroath. --WALKING PATH-- The big plan to upgrade the walking path hit a standstill at the end of last year and things kind of fizzled out. The commitee has disbanded and will no longer be pursuing an upgraded walking path to Auchmithie. We would still love this to be a future goal but for now this will not be pursued. --BACK TO BASICS-- This year we plan to go back to basics of promoting our beautiful coastline via social media and making sure that visitors to the cliffs can enjoy a safe walk and create great memories with their friends and families. Safety and protecting our wildlife is incredibly important so we will be giving advice on this and thinking of better ways to educate vistors. 1. NEW SIGN (see Photo) After a few years the sign has gotten a bit run down and needs a replacement and a wee paint touch up. Next week we plan to finish the new design for the Map then order the replacement. We will then paint and install the new one. โAre there any small changes or info that you think should be added to the Sign/Map? 2. NEW FLYERS The flyers have been a massive hit over the past few years and we receive lots of messages from people who have used them to enjoy their walk. We plan to improve them this season. โDo you have any thoughts on what should be added to the flyers? โUseful website links? QR codes? I'd like to add a link to guide visitors to a page where they can learn about respecting the wildlife and looking after our coastline while they visit. I plan to meet with a member of the SWT soon to ask for their input. 3. Bonfest Kirriemuir is the annual international celebration of AC/DC legend Bon Scott. Held in Bon's Scottish hometown of Kirriemuir, the festival will enter its 19th year in 2024. AC/DC fans from all over the world come together for three days of rock, with some of the best AC/DC tribute bands from around the UK as well as various bands playing for free in local bars over the festival weekend, 3 to 5 May 2024. A life-sized bronze figure of Bon Scott, sculpted by artist John McKenna, was unveiled in 2016 - visit Bellies Brae car park to see the statue and get a selfie with the rock legend!
