CARER SPOTLIGHT Meet Yasmin, one of our fabulous care team based in Barrow. We asked Yasmin some questions to describe her experience of working for Lakeland Care. What does it mean to you to be a carer? It means I can help people to live as much as a normal life in their own home for as long as possible. Why/how did you get in to caring? Through health and social care at college, I went for a work experience in a home and loved it so got a job there. What is your favourite aspect of the job? Building trust with the clients I go too, and them knowing I’m reliable and are there for them. Have you done anything unusual/extra to help your clients (going over and above)? I have been to clients in the past for this firm and I’d take one of the chaps out that was lonely for drives and ice creams and chippy’s at Greenodd. Helped break his long days up. Why do you like working for Lakeland Care? It’s a nice company to work for as we are trusted to do our jobs. Do you have any advice for new carers? To not worry and they’ll be absolutely fine, and if they are worried about something to always get in touch with me and I’ll help where I can. And also the clients are lovely on Walney. Tell us a fun fact about yourself? I once fell through a bus stop which led to a huge bruise on my bottom as I didn’t realise there was no glass in it when I went to lean against it 😂 (I’ll say I’m very unique and clumsy but always smiling) And last but not least, if you could be any animal, what would you be?
