Last Saturday we walked from Cleveleys to Fleetwood on the Fylde Coast path. It was on the beach again the whole way passing the striking Maryโs shell sculpture and on to the harbour town of Fleetwood where you can take a small ferry to Knott-End-on-Sea. We had views over to Morecombe and Cumbria where we are looking forward to walking one day. Then it was an exciting first trip on a tram, Baz got lots of fuss and everyone said what a lovely, well behaved boy he was. Last weekend we completed the Fylde Coast path which runs from Lytham to Fleetwood. This also forms part of the Lancashire Coastal Way which is a 137 mile long distance trail from Merseyside to Cumbria and of course it is also part of the England coast path! Our first walk was from Lytham passing the striking white Windmill on the green beside the promenade. The path is very flat, easy walking through Lytham St Anneโs and on to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Before it was Cool Weโve just got back from East Anglia, where we finished off following the fantastic Suffolk coast path and continued around the coastline of Norfolk to Kingโs Lynn. This is at Sizewell beach which, despite the looming nuclear power plants just behind, still has a very nice character to it. Even in the rain, even with falling so many times, this walk was worth it for the views out to the North Sea, and one of the best ways we have spent a bank holiday. No hangover in sight, and just open country. A lot of the cliff faces are limestone, and stretch for the majority of the way in comparison to the coast a little further down the coast that are boulder clay. However, some of the cliffs are a mixture of both limestone and boulder clay, which did mean there was some coastal erosion still evident.
