This is Kedai Kopi Xuu Yau located in the Wong Ah Fook area which is just a stone thrown away from JB City Square. The area has been redeveloping and spots local eats as well as hip cafes. We still fancy the good old local Wonton Mee over the latter. Nostalgic feel especially for us SG city guys nowadays. The dry noodles with dark sauce and chilli was good. Pairing it with a mug of iced coffee was splendid. Just the way Malaysian food should be enjoyed.

We have always enjoyed their offerings but the store at Sunset Way is a little hard to get to. Hundred Acre Creamery is inspired by Winnie the Pooh, mirroring the essence of pure joy, timeless camaraderie, and a celebration of life's simplest pleasures. In this case, ice cream and waffles! This time, we had their signature TRUFFLE CHEESE WAFFLE, topped with their signature honey chrysanthemum and Salty Lychee CALPIS! Loved both flavours! Yes, the calpis worked super well for me...I'm a fan haha! The truffle cheese waffle is definitely unique. Loved the slightly burnt areas that are actually the cheese. We also had the coco affogato. It was meant to be just a dinner among the 4 of us, but since the boysโ Grandmaโs BFF is here to visit from China ๐จ๐ณ, I decided to invite the grandparents and their overseas guest to join us as well. I was choosing between Thai Village Sharkfins (cos the boys really like their fins ๐ ) and Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duckโฆ and finally decided on the latter. Pre-ordered their roasted suckling pig with glutinous rice (็ณฏ็ฑณ้ ่็ฎไนณ็ช) and their signature Peking Duck ๐ฆ. On hind sightโฆ too much carbs for the 7 of us (and 2 of us are kiddos)โฆ struggledโฆ stuffed at the end of dinner. ๐ Excellent garlic steamed marble goby with crispy pork lard (็ชๆฒนๆธฃ ่่่ธ ็ฌๅฃณ้ฑผ)โฆ probably my favourite dish of the night! Marvellous! ๐ฏ Geoduck/่ฑกๆ่/Mirugai sashimi and shabu shabu ๐, sautรฉed prawns ๐ฆ with egg white โญ๏ธ, deep fried crispy silverfish and marinated jellyfish head. Brought 2 bottles of Vosne Romanee which coincidentally happened to be my boys birth years! 2013 Bouchard Les Suchots and 2016 Hudelot Noellat Vosne Romanee. Bought a bottle of Henriot champagne, so as to get the corkage waivedโฆ dabao that bottle awayโฆ donโt think itโs gonna be any good. ๐ The boys ate alot by their standardsโฆ we tried to end the dinner earlier as it was a Thursdayโฆ and the boys usually sleep by 8pm latest on weekdays. Dinner ended at 830pm, so everyoneโs happy. Good dinner, good service, good show for our overseas guest. Weโll be visiting her in Putian, China come December. Iโm sure all will be well planned for our short visit. She loves my boysโฆ kept saying they are well behaved (*cough cough*) ๐โฆ and both very good looking (of cos lahโฆ just look at their daddy!๐). The combination of the classic McDonaldโs burger with the flavours of yakiniku was a match made in heaven. ๐ The ๐ฅฉ quarter pounder beef patty itself was incredibly juicy ๐ฆ and flavourful, thanks to the marination in the savoury yakiniku sauce. With each bite, I could taste the smoky and slightly sweet notes that are characteristic of yakiniku. The addition of caramelised onions ๐ง and crunchy white cabbage ๐ฅฌ added a refreshing crunch and a hint of umami, which balanced out the richness of the meat. If youโre a fan of yakiniku or simply looking for something different at McDonaldโs, I highly recommend giving the ๐ Yakiniku burger a try. The salmon cubes arenโt as well cut as more pricey restos, but their hotate sure is juicy. ๐๐ - Their saucy Unagi Tamago Soba (~$14.40) came drenched in a tangy terriyaki sauce coating the springy cold soba. Unagi wise, it was plump, not quite grilled, but portion wise really generous so I canโt complain. ๐๐ - Mentaiko Maki (~$12.90) was loaded with Japanese rice โ carb heavy, topped with a lightly torched thicc aburied salmon slice.
