When I woke up, my sinuses were runny and gloppy again and I felt like I was just about to sneeze all the time. The sore throat returned, along with extreme fatigue, random muscle aches, intermittent fevers, and a deep, painful cough. I emailed my doctor and she replied, “COVID is a process.” Not very reassuring, that. Life is on hold. One evening of joyful music has resulted in a month of ennui and waiting to recover from an invisible threat to our health and well-being. My husband also developed a cough today, which is troublesome because he has asthma and whenever he gets any kind of virus, it hits him right in the lungs. I put in a solid nine-hour workday, with a short lunch break to make a bowl of (not again) soup. I’ve decided we need to keep miniature saltine soup crackers in the pantry at all times because after the soup was done, they were a nice snack. Kiki is having a second childhood. She’s old, for a lovebird, especially since she was most likely a breeder bird that was forced to raise clutch upon clutch of babies until she escaped (or was discarded) and ended up being rescued from the middle of a busy street at rush hour. I’ve been adding a homeopathic joint support formula to her water for the past two months and she has stopped barbering the feathers under her gimpy wing. Playtime this evening consisted of long flights around the living room to a handheld target perch. She was bright-eyed and eager to play. We had a light tomato and garlic pasta for dinner. It’s time to rest for the weekend. We’ll re-test on Sunday night and hopefully the last of this damned virus will be gone. We want to rejoin the living.

My Mom Boss found the recipe on the Real Plans app and the kids love it! I simply bought ground sweet sausage and a premade jar of pesto to make the yummy dinner. Leftovers make a great school lunch school packed in a thermos the next day. You Will Need: 4 cups fusilli pasta 1 pound Italian sausage 8 ounces mushrooms 1 1/2 cups grape tomatoes 1 jar of pesto What to Do: 1. Boil a pot of salty water. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente, slightly firm. 2. Slice mushrooms and halve tomatoes. 3. Remove sausage from casing if in links.
