Mars 2024 # Un matin ensoleillé à la ferme. En 2018 germait dans ma tête l’idée de « m’installer ». Ce mot qui prend tellement de sens dans le monde agricole. Les paysans le savent : il est difficile de trouver un endroit où s’ancrer. C’est parfois même le parcours du combattant. Il faut pouvoir se loger, avoir accès à de l’eau, créer un réseau, la concurrence est rude… L’année dernière, après avoir presque abandonné l’idée de m’installer dans le Périgord où les prix des terres et de l’immobilier ont explosé ces dernières années, je tombais sur une annonce : « Corps de ferme avec de nombreux bâtiments, 11 ha, un verger, un forage, un bassin de rétention, en conversion AB. » Tout est à faire ou refaire, le travail est monstrueux. Pourtant, on se lance dans un parcours éreintant entre la commission Safer, la banque qui ne comprend rien au projet, les taux qui grimpent et enfin la signature le 31 octobre 2023. La pluie, la boue, la vie en mobilhome, la solidarité entre voisins, les matins calmes ont remplacé l’appartement en ville et le bruit des camions. Semis, préparation du sol, irrigation, clôtures, plantations, devis, commercialisation, DJA, adhésion au collectif… la to-do list est longue ! Che l'Uomo è più di me, è più intelligente, sa più di me, è più forte di me, ha più potere, ha più diritti di me, è superiore. E sto uscendo da questo 🌹 Innanzitutto riconoscendo a me stessa il mio valore, le mie capacità, competenze, intelligenza, forza, coraggio. Mi riconosco sempre di più, come persona, come Donna. E come Donna sono molto diversa al Uomo. Sto riconoscendo la mia ciclicità, la mia connessione con la Luna, con la Natura. La mia capacità di accogliere, nutrire, ascoltare, sentire, osservare🌒 Osservo come il mio umore cambia in continuazione. Anche il mio livello di energia, la mia forza fisica. Riconosco la mia esperienza e conoscenze. Riconosco che ha valore quello che ho da dire. Non sono né meno né di più dell'Uomo, siamo diversi. Riconosco che più ho un Femminile sano in me, più incontro un Maschile sano, dentro e fuori di me. In agricoltura posso fare molte cose, adattando la modalità di lavoro e attrezzature. Sto trovando il mio modo, che mi fa sentire a mio agio, dove posso Creare. Sento che insieme all'Uomo possiamo fare tante cose belle, perché ci complementiamo. E mi auguro che questa separazione al mio interno che vedo riflessa all'esterno possa sempre diminuire, e dare più spazio all'Integrazione degli opposti, all'Equilibrio, all'Unione. Almost 11 years ago, I planted carrots in a high tunnel in February with farmer Ellen on Killarney Farm in North Idaho. Yesterday, I planted my own, with a few radish seeds mixed in to monitor germination. They are tucked in under the row cover. If all goes well, I'll have some carrot bunches for the market in May. Timing is tricky, and the heat of the tunnel varies. Carrots can take up to 21 days to germinate in normal conditions. Germination rates are lower in colder temperatures. I don't know if my rows will be worth the ground they are occupying. But, I remember eating the carrots I helped plant years ago with delight! And I've been waiting for years to try planting my own! Mokum, the variety of carrots I planted, is full size at around 54 days. They should germinate by March 16th. Baby carrots might be ready to harvest on April 14th (which happens to be my birthday) and full grown carrots by May 1st. The rest of the ground will grow a pea & oat cover crop this spring. And will be joined by more cover crops outside! A wee box of dreams was delivered to my front door today. This project started back in the summer when I sent a bag of my ewe lambs wool away to England to be processed into this beautiful yarn. While I am absolutely delighted to have my own yarn now to use I'm still very frustrated about the lack of wool processing facilities available in Ireland. It’s a cold one out there! Our little weather station says it’s -26. That was a fast drop and hard on the animals! This past weekend we prepped and got the shelters shovelled out and fresh straw placed. The sheep have all been getting extra feed in the form of lamb grower and barley and Step 6 with a touch of barley for the horses. Tonight we’ll top up the troughs so we can make it through these next few days without having to do water. And double up the straw so they’re all super cozy! After that it’ll be regular monitoring to make sure our tiny rams are doing ok and water hasn’t frozen 🤞🏼along with the extra feed. C'est la fin de nos 15 jours de repos, et la reprise des marchés ce matin Avec les températures qui diminuent et la faible étendu de surface couverte que j'ai , mécaniquement mon étal diminue. MAIS j'ai encore de la marchandise à proposer hihihi. Techniquement on s'améliore, et notre sol aussi. Quand je revoit les années précédente ça saute aux yeux sur ce que j'ai à proposer. Petit bémol cette année, les courges !!! Et ca apparemment c'est global, elles ont un problème de conservation. On n'explique pas pourquoi, mais tout le monde a ce problème. les courges ne se conservent pas aussi longtemps et aussi bien que d'habitude Pour ma part je pense que c'est à cause de l'été bizarre, un coup pluvieux frais, un coup chaud canicule. Bon bon bon, la permaculture ca ne marche vraiment pas hihihi. Pretend this is a reel, with no music. It sounds just like real life. 😉 While I love a soundtrack and add one often, I also spend a lot of time in silence. Or silence with animal sounds, because I know a lot of animals. When the kids were little the only house pet was Milo the Turkish Angora cat: a stray we befriended by feeding @messenger_pizza , then cat food. He’s the fluffy guy here and in many of my photos, now around 15 years old. Then came a border collie who raised the humans kids, caught their sticks and frisbees in the air, and never injured a single duckling or kitten. She passed at 15yrs, and can’t be replaced. Then some in between, then Morris, the mini black panther who jumps out of trees at me in the dark while I feed the farm, as a reminder that the only reason he does not eat me alive is his size. They’re all different, and there are more, but for some reason we have zero mice this year… And I’ve decided that cats who are useful need a barn, so I’m making plans. The horses, goats, and chickens may move in to the cat barn as well, but they’ll have to consult the cats.

We made it to the vet, and it was easy peasy I was unsure about driving them, and then I had this brilliant idea to use cardboard and hay . So now I have a clean space to treat them as well for the next. Couple of weeks. Are they are quite at ease, so I’m having lots of wins today after a very emotional day yesterday for many reasons. I am grateful to have woke up this morning rested to handle my day with less emotion lol I listened to my body and went to bed at 5:30 yesterday and it paided off. Als we onze stem laten horen dan keren we misschien het tij 🙌🧑🏻🌾👩🏻🌾👨🏾🌾👩🏼🦱👱🏻♂️👧🏻👨🏿🦱👨🏾🦳👩🦰🙌 Binnen @vitalerassen vermeerderen en selecteren wij -samen met een 20 tal andere biologische boeren- elk onze eigen gewassen: van bloemen over kruiden tot groenten 🌶 🌺🌱. Zaadteelt aangepast aan onze lokale omstandigheden, voor het behoud van diversiteit in gewassen. Diversiteit en lokale aanpassingen die we hard nodig hebben om toekomstige klimatologische veranderingen te kunnen doorstaan 🌎🌱. Maar wist je dat kleinschalige initiatieven zoals het onze momenteel bedreigd worden? De Europese Unie onderhandelt momenteel over nieuwe regels voor de zadenmarkt. Regels die een ernstige bedreiging vormen voor de vrije uitwisseling van zaden en de heropleving van de diversiteit van onze gewassen. Oa de administratieve verplichtingen worden zo groot dat kleinschalige initiatieven zoals het onze er nauwelijks aan kunnen voldoen. Unsere Stadtfarm wird oft belächelt und als Liebhaberei abgetan. Wie oft ich schon die Frage gehört hab "und davon kann man leben?" oder "das machen sie aber nicht hauptberuflich oder?" 😤 All diese Fragen entstehen durch den Irrglauben, dass nur eine konventionelle Landwirtschaft (mit Pestiziden, Kunstdünger und Maschinen) auf großer Fläche wirtschaftlich sein kann. Dabei wird gern vergessen, dass gerade große Betriebe vor allem von Agrarsubventionen leben. Wir haben bisher keinen einzigen Euro Agrarsubvention erhalten... Ein beliebtes Argumente von Agrarkonzernen und Lobbyisten: "Mit Bio und Kleinbetrieben kann man die Welt nicht ernähren." Wir sind angetreten, um das Gegenteil zu beweisen. Und da ich ein Fan von Zahlen, Daten, Fakten bin, haben wir dieses Jahr sämtliche Ernte gewogen. Im Schnitt haben wir 3,1 Kilo Gemüse pro Quadratmeter geerntet. Über alle Landwirtschaftsbetriebe in Thüringen wurden letztes Jahr durchschnittlich 2,9 kg/qm Freilandgemüse geerntet. Wir liegen also sogar etwas über dem Erntedurchschnitt und das ganz ohne Kunstdünger, Pestizide und große Maschinen. 🥦🥕🥒🍅🌶️🍆🧄🫑🫛🥬 Klar ist das mehr händische Arbeit, aber die erlaubt uns auch andere Kulturmethoden: Mischkultur, Mulch, engere Pflanzenstände und generell ein breiteres Portfolio an Anbaukulturen. Und neben der Ernte erschaffen wir noch ökologische Werte, indem wir die Stadt kühlen, einen Lebensraum für Insekten und Co. schaffen, Starkregen puffern und Humus aufbauen, der als natürlicher CO2 Speicher fungiert. Créer une ferme école en maraîchage bio-intensif 〰️ C'est le projet que porte @vanessa.correa.rivera et @baptiste.saulnier à travers leur projet @cultive_fermes ! Après plusieurs années de terrain, ils aspirent désormais à créer une école pour former les maraîchers et maraîchères de demain. Un projet d'envergure qui devrait voir le jour en 2024 et que j'ai eu le plaisir de mettre en lumière en septembre dernier ! Le modèle de cette école est basée des techniques par @jeanmartinfortier à @la_grelinette il y a quelques années et développé dans son livre "Le Jardinier-Maraîcher".
