10 years apart to the day. 2013 - post divorce and heavily partying and binge/social drinking. Full of deep seated unhappiness and chaos. Dating arseholes and 10 mins after this photo was taken I was phone jacked and had to spend £400 on a new iPhone because I wasn’t insured. Proceeded to get hammered after work as it was a half day and that set the tone for Xmas. I think I had my mum and brother over. I truly can’t remember. 37 years old and lost. 2023 - me living without the chaos and choosing to try and work through my many issues with self worth, anger issues and body image, but sober. I’m work in progress we all are. But just remember how much more you’ve gained by not drinking. It’s far more than just giving up alcohol. Questi dieci anni però non sono passati invano: il 2013 è stato l’anno delle pellicce colorate e quasi ogni maison del lusso ha proposto il suo modello, oggi la maggior parte di loro si è dichiarata fur free, con l’adesione al movimento nell’ultimo anno anche di un colosso come Moncler. 1️⃣0️⃣ years juicing! 🎉🎈🌱💗💚🌈 In these past 10 years I have grown immensely in all areas of my life: professionally, personally, body wise, and spiritually. It was this very first step and this change that I made in 2013 that made me change my entire life! I became a “almost vegetarian” (I still eat every now and then some fish) due to my acne problem. It doesn’t look now, but I had terrible acne all through my teens and adulthood. I prayed about it, and went on “Acutane” which is a strong anti-acne medication. It was a good decision, but even after my skin cleared up, I continued with diet and juicing. It was this same year I also started nursing school which it was another life changing experience. Fast forward to few years later, I decided to give up gluten and dairy. I didn’t know how bad these two items are for the body, causing inflammation and after so much reading from professionals gluten and dairy are one of the main causes of skin problems, bloating, and even degenerative illness. It was hard at first, but I’m used to it now, and my body changed so much after these changes. As the granddaughter of two alcoholic grandparents which both died of Cirrhosis of the liver, I haven’t drank in over 20 years! I’ve seen with my own eye what alcohol did and still does to my family. Alcohol not only kills brain cells, but it kills every part of your body with every drink, even the smallest amount, and the least percentage amount. It ages you faster, causes many neurological illnesses such as Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease, and one of the main reasons for all types of cancer. I’m glad I heard the Holy Spirit talking to me in this one and asking me to “Stop drinking”. Juicing encourages me to exercise, and it has helped me take care of my body entirely! God has given me only this body, and I know when He comes one day He will ask me if everything I did was to glorify Him or myself. We eat and drink to His glory, not to our glory. If I could go back 10 years ago and talk to my 22 year old self, here's what I would tell him: 1) Not everyone you come across is going to like you. Learn now that you only need a few people to keep close to you. 2) The ones that you can trust, and the ones that allow you to be your authentic self.....hold them as close to you as you can. And make sure you remind them regularly how much they mean to you. 2) Alcohol doesn't make you a better version of yourself. The more you can limit/cut out of your life, your physical and mental self will thank you greatly. 3) You're not perfect, so stop always trying to be. Thinking that you can, or need to be, is a mental purgatory that very few people get themselves out of. 4) No matter how much good you try to put into the world, bad things are still going to happen. Learn how to cope, and learn how to have a strong resolve. 5) Nothing will benefit you more than getting consistent sleep every single night. Prioritize that as much as you can. 6) Having jealousy of others will eat you alive. Learn how to appreciate every single thing you have and what you've been given. 7) Everything that has happened to you, and will happen to you, is as designed by whatever higher power exists out there. Be intuned with the signs given to you, and act on them. 8) Nothing is more important in this life than your physical, mental, and emotional strength. All of them need daily work to make you as strong and as resilient as possible. 9) Work for the future you want, but don't forget to smell the roses along the way. The money will come back, but your time and certain opportunities won't. Take advantage of them while you can. 10) Find what you're passionate about, and figure out a way to make that your career. LONG MUSHY POST ALERT 🚨 Approximately 9 years and a few days or so ago my daughter Kayla sent me a picture similar to this first one. She said Mom her owner is taking her to the pound because she has a broken leg and he can’t afford to treat it, also she’s living in a motel 6. I said “Bring her home, we will get her healthy and find her a good home”. Fast forward 9 years and the b*tch is still here. I guess she found her good home, despite me. I did NOT want to keep her, we had Brady and he was old. I wanted his last years to be peaceful and about him. Life conspired against me (so did 2 people) My husband and Kayla were both in love. I’ll admit it took me a LONG time to come around and not feel resentful that I was forced to take care of a dog I didn’t want. If only I had known. When Brady died, Zoe saved me. She laid behind my knees on the couch day after day as I laid there crying and missing him, while I ignored her. She stayed close and licked away my tears. She barely left my side for a long time. I don’t know if I’ve ever even thanked her. She’s still a raging b*tch who runs her 2 younger brothers lives (as she should) She is small but mighty. Zoe May, aka Little B*tch, Bitty, Ms. Bitty, Ms. May, Zo-Zo, Snausage. If I haven’t told you. I love you very much. Thank you for filling our lives with your crazy zoomies and showing unconditional love, especially to me. Even when I truly didn’t deserve it from you. I hope you know now how much you are adored and I promise never to forget it again. Cheers to 10 years around the sun. If the crown fits and all that jazz…. Also thank you Kayla and Pal for not letting me get my way (only time I’ll be ever say that). Can’t imagine life without her. P. S.
