After the game, we played on the swing in Smale Riverfront Park, then walked along the Ohio River Trail. Just thinking about how epic yesterday was. Running the Inaugural RiMaConn as an Ultra team of 3 strong women was an amazing experience. This sign was partly what got me through the last 8 miles. I Saw this sign at just over 2 miles into my last 8 mile leg. I was already 30 miles in, my legs were toast, I thought 8 miles would take forever. It was a sign that meant I was close to the finish, it was a sign that meant we, as a team went out and completed 95 miles through 3 states, it was a sign that reminded me of my mental toughness, it was a sign that I needed to follow in order to cross that line with 2 amazing women. Yesterday we began our road trip to Vancouver, starting with a stop at Lake Tahoe. Although South Lake Tahoe is only around 4 hours north east of us we’ve never actually made it before now! There was so much snow when I was looking to go at the beginning of the year that a lot of the roads were closed. They had another pile of snow just last month and although it was nearly 30c, snow still lay in piles on the ground and across the mountain peaks. Tahoe is very beautiful, with clear waters and corse but lovely sand, it’s perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and whatever else you would do at the beach. Only calmer, no crazy Santa Cruz waves here! • Around Lake Tahoe it’s built for tourism, cheap motels and campsites line the roads with tat shops and bars on every corner. It was busy so you do have to arrive early ish unless you want to queue to get to the beaches - although weirdly the car parks were quiet and this beach pictured? Well we had that all to ourselves. So once you make it through that bit it was fab! • The drive around the lake was amazing - we drove around the east side which isn’t so scenic (but had to come back for the forgotten toy, if you’ve seen my stories) and then we drove around the west side which is just beautiful. Because the doubling back added nearly 3 hours onto our already 7 hour journey, we didn’t make it to Crater Lake but maybe one day we will get there! • Last night we stayed in the motel 6 at South Lake Tahoe. It was unfortunately perhaps the worst motel we’ve stayed in in terms of cleanliness, our non smoking room smelt of smoke with a plastic bag over the smoke alarm and cigarette ends under the bed which was a shame but never mind.
