A word from our photographer and founder: As many of you might remember, Wednesday night produced not only thunder and lightening, but yet more rain! A photo shoot had been arranged for Thursday, and so bright and early I was up and out on the M25. My model for the day was waiting for me as I arrived, and despite telling me she had never modelled before, went on to produce some simply gorgeous images. I have to tell you, these ladies are tough as well as beautiful. The bluebell wood was waterlogged, and within minutes my feet were soaked. Note to self, BRING WELLINGTONS! The colours were fabulous and with a little camera setting magic I hope I created a Spring feel out of a miserable grey day. Little Bonnie is our @slaughterhouse_survivors X @hautedogscalendar April ray of sunshine on a rainy day. Sold to the meat trade when her breeder no longer had a need for her, Bonnie was thankfully rescued by SHS and given all the love and care that she deserved and needed. Her teeth were so rotten that they had to all be removed, but that doesn’t stop this little lady from enjoying the finer things in life with her wonderful family in the UK. Well it looks as though Mabel, with mum Rosie, definitely approves of her photo in our November 2024 GAR Calendar page! Mabel is just one of the lucky adopted Greekies featured, and now lives a wonderful life in East Yorkshire after coming from @skiathosdogs class of 2014! Can we say a huuuuge thank you to absolutely everyone who took part in our 2024 GAR Calendar competition, everyone who purchased a calendar and of course to Liz & Steve Grayston who every year do such an amazing job of putting it all together for us. This year we sold 297 calendars which created £1,600 profit, of which 25% will be paid to our good friends at Skiathos Dog Shelter, Mabel's first home. Please don't forget to get snapping your gorgeous adopted Greekies throughout the seasons ready to enter again later this year! Long Post Alert 😀 We have been keeping a secret from you, but it’s now time to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. Are you planning on visiting us any Sunday soon? From this Sunday to Sunday 5th May we will be running a, free to enter, prize draw to thank you for all your support. The prize draw will see 5 of your children/ grandchildren/ nieces/ nephews win the opportunity to appear in one of our group photography sessions for a charity calendar we are planning to have printed before the end of this year. We already have two of the months in the can, featuring beautiful lambs and goats, but we have lots more planned. Entry tickets will be available from this Sunday, the more times you visit, the more entries you will have 😀 A little taster of the unofficial photographs, but we have our own superb professional photographer Derek Gerrard Photography capturing the real images. Calendars will hopefully be on sale from the start of November, at the bookstore and from any of our volunteer team. This year, we're on the lookout once again for snaps of this stunning area and we'll choose our favourites to feature in the 2025 calendar. It's truly beautiful and moving to see how many people feel the need to give something to others. ANT in Tuscany is a deeply cherished association; it provides free specialized medical assistance at the homes of cancer patients without any cost to the families. An initiative that both Alessandro Benvenuti and I felt particularly close to, expressing our love for the wonderful Tuscany. 🇮🇹…Ecco un altro scatto... è un altro calendario benefico.
