DO YOU DREAD GOING TO HEAVEN? Many people secretly dread going to heaven. After all, who wants to spend eternity in a fluffy cloud land with little cherubs strumming harps? They’d rather listen to elevator music. But, God! The afterlife is the restoration of creation. When God created everything, He declared it very good (Genesis 1). Humanity’s fall undid it, but God’s promise of restoring it to its original glory at the end of the age fills us with hope and anticipation. The material won’t be engulfed by the immaterial, as if we’ll turn into disembodied spirits floating around. This reassures us that the afterlife is not a realm of intangible spirits, but a place where we will exist in tangible, physical bodies. 𝘓𝘶𝘬𝘦 24:39 “𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘵. 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘐 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧! 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦; 𝘢 𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦.” Everything good in this life will see its heightened and imperishable fulfilment in the restored cosmos.
