30 days in! . It started as a 10 day reset which was great. Then I realized if 10 days gave me that much clarity and energy what would a longer time frame do. . As of today I'm the cleanest and leanest I've ever been post college. . I'm 170lbs (I was around 185 in November) which isn't where I want to be. . I want to be 200lbs lean and mean. however my recent finding showed me that the foundation I set up (hot pockets and potatoe chips) wasn't going to give me the lasting results I desire. . At 7 years 1 month old and just 10 weeks after surgery mini Moco made it to the summit of Ben Nevis. She’s wanted to go since we got our very own Nevis. The crown jewel of Vietnam's north. This place was the best accidental surprise I've ever encountered. I had met a young man in the Philippines that said I should go here. After an agonizing long process of getting into Vietnam and doing no research at all, I made my way up there and stumbled upon this!!! Worth every moment of stress I endured getting there. Roaming around on mountains and exploring jungle waterfalls inside a volcano crater. How's that for something to add to the list of things you've done in your life? As usual I went off the beaten path and climbed up the falls as far as I could with camera in hand while my family took the designated path. As a fairly active man, I quickly caught up to them and we continued on up the mountain. On the way back down, we discovered local children playing in the pond of this waterfall. Apparently it's deep enough to jump off of and land in the depths below. The beautiful Mantigue island! Just off the eastern shores of Camiguin island, Phillipines. Fantastic place. Lots of beautiful water to swim in. Creatures a plenty. And white sand everywhere. The price to hire a boat was the same regardless of it being one person or 8 people. So, I wandered up to a group of fantastic folks and asked if I could join their posse. As you can expect with most Filipino's, they were incredibly friendly and welcomed me into their family right away. We had so much fun! Exploring new things. Sharing stories of how our countries different in temperature so vastly. (Sometimes it's actually colder than Mars where I'm from in Canada.) Camiguin Island that you can see in the background is a Volcanic Island. This means the sea life around it is thriving with life as volcanoes bring up nutrients from under ground and are a major player in the local ecosystems surrounding them. This bright blue watering hole way up in the mountains on the island of Bohol, Philippines, was one of the most amazing places I've seen. Lots of laughing locals. Kids jumping out of 60' tall tree's. On the island of Bohol, Philippines there lies a road that boasts the most beautiful sights. These tree's perfectly filter just enough light to provide the perfect temprature all year round. Never too hot. Never too cold. The lighting is always perfect for pictures. And it just feels super cool to hit this stretch of road. So we stopped here and there to have a look around. Then decided a celebratory picture with a camera balanced atop a big rock was manditory for the moment. I can't remeber how many times we did this photo to get a good one. Push the timer, spend most of that timer time trying to balance the camera and then run into place and jump in syncronization without looking blurry... I always thought #luxury vacations were something I had to wait to do until I somebody retired at age 65. . ⌛️ . Then I heard about this guy named Moises through my buddy Don. I found out he had been on over 22 vacations in the last 5 years. Not like little weekend get aways. I’m talking about places like the Great Wall of China, the Bahamas, and the Pyramids of Egypt. . The crazy part? He’s only 23. . 🤯 . I saw a picture of him and his mom on a hot air ballon ride at #Disney, so I thought to myself, “okay, this kid either has rich parents or his mom is a flight attendant or something. Nobody this young can realistically travel to all this places on his own.” . Come to find out, he was just a regular college student who didn’t have any special advantages other than one thing. . ⬇️ . He had found out about this insider travel app when he was in college, which has allowed him to pack more life into 5 years than most people do their entire life. . You meet tons of people through the journey's in life. Nobody is a stranger, they are just people you don't call friends yet. But sometimes you get to bring a friend along on one of lifes journeys. That's exactly the case here. Ol @dextyn here joined me for some Eppic Adventures in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam and it wasn't the least bit uneventful. Even searching for a hamburger in Asia came with many unexpected surprizes along the way. We laughed a ton. Saw some super rad things. Tried the weirdest foods. Met the most unsuspecting wonderful people along the way. Life is full of adventure friends. Don't say no to opportunity. Don't think you can't go on your own adventures. If that's you I challenge you to grab a camera, and go on a hunt for a hamburger. Not a boring one. A GREAT ONE! Document the adventure. Try and get pictures of other people. (Tell them you just need a person in your picture for a project you're working on) At the end of the day, you'll be able to look back at your day and see that your search for something so simple actually brought forth value to your life. It may be small, but you have to start somewhere. Small turns into big when you keep adding the small bits together. Way up in the north of Vietnam close to the chinese border, there lies a mine nestled in this little valley. One of the most spectacular views as you meander down the side of the mountain slowly. Often being engulfed entirely by a cloud for a minute or two and then the clouds break and reveal the landscape you see here, you really feel this sense of awe as your brain tries to process what's all going on. It's one of those exhausting places to look at because there's just so much to take in. The worst part of this area though... power lines EVERYWHERE! Makes flying a drone pretty scary. Especially since you're in a cloud half the time with zero visibility. Scared myself more than once flying this vast valley. Volcano adventuring is where it's at. This waterfall was tall. Nice and cool. But the best part was that you could sneak around the life guards and climb up to the top of it. (I don't think it's a known thing but I'm not one to stay on the beaten path.) No tourists. No locals. These top down photos... Such a different view! From way up here you can't tell right away the variation in height as this road wiggles it's way up a mountain. But looking closer, when you start to count the terraces you begin to gain a small understanding as to the depth of the photo. I like looking at these kid of pictures. It's like a game for me. What a sight to wake up to. Storm clouds just after sunrise yield some fantastic scenery. This one of the things iconic to the praries. We may not have mountains here, but you can be sure that July will always yeild some amazing sights that only last a few minutes. These storms blow through fast. As they continually pick up speed as they cross the flat land I call my home, you have to be quick to pull out your camera's and snap some pictures before it's gone. Feel the burn! The Filipino sunshine is crazy intense. I wore sunscreen underneath a long sleeve Under Armour shirt and STILL got sun burned. When you're not riding a motorcycle it's just to hot to wear any shirt. A quick dash into the golden rice fields to take pictures and then run back into the shade as fast as you can. I have some pretty sweet tan lines from my back pack though. You haven't experienced hot till you're in 40º and 400% humidity. You almost want to drink less water so that you don't sweat as much and your clothes have a chance to stay drier for a couple hours at least. What's the hottest you have experienced? WEIRD FOOD! The Vietnamese people are no strangers to eating EVERY part of the animal they consume for a meal. My friend Hiro is from Japan. We had the opportunity to volunteer together for a week up in northern Vietnam. During that time we had the opportunity to eat all sorts of weird things. Like chicken feet. Not for me. As I was cruising along the road, and we were getting real close to our destination for the night, out of the corner of my eye I saw something that didn't look quite natural. I pulled over right away and went to check it out. I discovered a super awesome little stone carved staircase leading up into a cave. Even more surprizing was the homeless man staring at me in surprize when I showed up on his front porch. I have no idea what was here. The staircase continued on past the cave entrance and onto nothing. Couldn't find anything about it online either. This guy!!! My friend Lukas from Germany. When I first arrived in northern Vietnam to do a motorcycle trip, I didn't know a single person. That changed quickly. Lukas was at the same hostel as me and we quickly decided that we would hit the road together in the morning. 5 days later, we had handfuls of stories to tell bring home with us. Like when we took a boat ride out in the sticks and ended up going THROUGH A MOUNTAIN. He's an amazing dude with a fantastic sense of adventure. And he likes to drive motorbikes fast. Today was a special day. Exploring new roads that might need to be put on the main tourism map. Honestly I'm surprised this road isn't mainstream. Absolutely blown away by this road. I self named some of the places. We may need to deem this "The Road to Heaven" We passed by Corn mountain and came up through God's toilet and into his pantry. And then there was this place. Ma Pi Leng Pass. The best road in the world. 13km of the best views. You actually stop every corner to take it all in and you still can't believe what you're seeing. I'm exhausted from trying to take "The Best" photo and stressing about "what if there's something better around the next corner?" I had to get to a place where I told myself "I have to be content with what I photograph and just enjoy seeing the beauty before my eyes." So this may not be the best photo in my eyes, but really I don't know what else could be better. This place is amazing. Vietnam kids. They are quite literally everywhere. This kid in the yellow was especially active. (reminded me of myself when I was his age) This little guy would scream "Hello" at me or some other western person. All the western people who heard him would say "Hello" back and wave and he'd run and scream out of excitement that he got a reply. 10-15 seconds later the excitement wore off and he came out of hiding and back into plain sight for another round of entertainment. After about half an hour of this game, the locals (mostly mom/aunties) were starting to get a little tired of this game as it was rather loud and some what obnoxious. She tried to reign in the craziness but we all know how well little boys listen to their mothers when there is a crowd around. You could see it clear as day in his eyes, that the game was afoot. He was on a mission to see how far that boundary could be pushed before severe punishment was immanent. In an effort to help this situation, I got out the drone and started flying around. After the fear of the "flying bug" wore off it was time to be curious. Mr. yellow shirt was front line and center to see what the drone could see. As per usual a crowd quickly gathered to look at the screen and see the world as the birds do. I usually don't get any usable footage out of the first battery as people just want to see themselves from above so I just kind of fly around a bunch and let them look at themselves on the screen. I have a daily mission (not just a goal) of making at least one person smile. One of the easiest ways to get genuine smiles out of people. Fly a drone. Weird. It was not my intention at all for buying my drone. In Canada we don't have multiple harvests in a year for most crops. We only get one shot at it. For me, I find it very interesting to see all these fields at many different stages of growth all at the same time. If you look very closely you can see the hard working locals below tending to their crops. Doing variable tasks depending on what stage that specific crop is at. I have a lot of respect for farmers. They have so much knowledge that is often unrecognized by most people. They are Scientists. Mechanics. Meteorologists. Landscapers. Veterinarians. Carpenters. Stone Masons. And most of all they are one of the hardest working people in the world. Not to mention that they all have families at home yet too. These men and woman work long hard days for only a few cents. I tip my hat to them. Many people see just a "simple farmer." I see men and women with value and knowledge that could benefit the world if they were to listen. How many of us "North American's" have any idea how to grow a crop? Could you do it without the internet? What if there was no "phone a friend" option? The beautiful sights of Halong bay. Definitely a bucket list place to see. So very cool even though it was packed with tourists. It was only once we were there that my buddy says to me "that's so cool that they filmed King Kong here!" Pshhooooofffff!!!!! "Mind Blown" I hadn't even thought of that. In an instant this place got a whole lot cooler. I can only imagine what it would have looked like 200 years ago here with Vietnamese sail boats scattered throughout these islands. The local people use to fish around these islands. But due to the crazy influx of tourism they have all moved into the city now for employment. Many of them, are now guides for the islands themselves. Put this place on your bucket list folks. It's cheap. It's beautiful. My boy @dextyn has gone home now. It was such a blessing to have a friend from home come Adventure around with me. We laughed at so many things. Met so many people. Experienced some weird scenarios and ate disgusting things. (Dextyn loves weird food. I throw up with weird food. Both happened) And his muscles. Haha I had so much fun watching everyone look at him and gawk at how big he is. Asians are small people already. Put them next to a massive muscley dude and the size difference is astounding. He was just as much a sight to the locals as they are to us. It was a fair trade I guess you could say. Everyone wanted to take a picture with him or at least touch his arms.
