La bête dans la jungle : ⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Le début était un peu long mais plutôt énigmatique. C’était une proposition déroutante et très différente des autres films. Le récit était déconstruit et les personnages mystérieux, peu bavard. Durant mon visionnage, je n’arrêtais pas de penser au film la bête, même si celui-ci est sorti après. Les deux films venaient il de la même inspiration, celle du roman d’Henry James ? Ici aussi le film quoi qu’étrange, arrivait à m’englober totalement et à me faire vivre une réelle expérience. On observait bien que le temps passé à l’extérieur de cette boîte, grâce à ses décors et surtout sa musique en constante évolution. Le duo n’avait pas vraiment d’alchimie (peut-être dû à très très peu de dialogue) et pourtant, j’arrivais à croire en cette relation ambiguë et silencieuse. Et tout comme eux, je continuais à attendre, attendre que quelque chose arrive furtivement, d’important. La photographie elle était sublimé et essayer de nous faire vivre dans l’ailleurs grâce à ses couleurs ou ses costumes durant toutes ses différentes périodes. Il y avait un vrai travail sur le fond. Synopsis : Marie-Luce Bison, 14 ans, est élevée par son père dans une joyeuse pension de famille pour seniors dont il est le directeur. Déjà la jeune @brune_moulin est une énorme surprise, elle met toute son énergie et n’a pas froid aux yeux. Entouré de son second rôle tout à fait charmant et pétillant : @philippekaterine en papa perdu, dépassé et déboussolé depuis des années suite à la disparition de sa femme depuis des années, @pierrerichardofficiel en bon vieux sage et très bon conseiller pour la jeune actrice. L’histoire est rythmé, le scenario rend hommage à plusieurs films portant sur l’adolescence comme La Boum ou l’effrontée ! C’est un film qui met en avant les relations entre Père/filles , les problèmes d’adolescents, le fait de tout faire pour se faire remarquer, accepté et même d’être aimé que ce soit en amitié ou en amour. Return to Seoul - ★★★ (2023) Directed by Davy Chou 65/100 It doesn't pack much of an emotional punch because of the way it rambles on in sequences that aren't adding much to the character's personality. I never felt like I was fully getting to know her, but you still don't lose sight of her quest. I understand that one can intuit that with several of these passages the director believes that this helps to know her better, but I felt at all times that there was a barrier between the character and her emotions. A wall that doesn't break until the climax where it ends up breaking down once she gets the emotional catharsis she was looking for and clearly needed. Return to Seoul is not a bad film but it involves immersing yourself in a story of identity and search for your origins that despite its quality, does not bring anything new that would give it an identity of its own that would separate it from other films with the same theme. Ok up next while browsing through Hulu I found the next film on my list that I’m going to watch next! From 2019, "Sea Fever"! I remember seeing the trailer for his phone back in 2019 and way to patiently for the debut somewhere so I can watch it, wether it was on home video or through streaming. Thankfully I can finally watch it now thanks to steaming. I don’t know much about the film but I guess that’s better to go in with little to no knowledge so I don’t know what to expect then! I do know there’s definitely some sort of creature so that is enough to sell me in it! Earwig - ★★½ Directed by Lucile Hadzihalilovic 55/100 Creativity and an intense atmosphere unfold in a film that doesn't seem to have a straight story and no clear direction. I understand it's based on a book of which I've never heard before, so I can't say anything about that plot or whether it was properly adapted, but ambiguity is the trademark of this version. There's a lot more to infer than what the movie allows itself to explain and I don't disagree with that, it's just that I couldn't quite figure out if I was missing information to get a better idea of what was happening on screen or I just wasn't able to make sense of it with what I could appreciate.
