I went to see The End We Start From and I wasn’t really sure what to expect, maybe a political piece about refugees based on the trailer but I love Jodie Comer so I wanted to give it ago. I was expecting it to be about environmentalism and societal collapse but it was amazing how that was almost pushed to the background to focus on a young mother and her desperate plight to keep herself and her baby alive and safe no matter what. I thought it was great, even if seemed like a bit of a u-turn. Comer was amazing as always but Katherine Waterson really surprised and impressed me. The rest of the cast was pretty strong too and I wasn’t expecting to see Benedict Cumberbatch appear out of nowhere. La maldición del Queen Mary (2023) Una película de terror que no causa miedo ni perturba. Mientras veía la película parecía que estaba en automático sin que me despertara ninguna sensación, solo eran acontecimientos tras acontecimientos que sucedían con una edición rarísima y unos cortes que me dejaban confundido. Aparte de eso, la película toma "prestada" la temática de la primera temporada de American Horror Story pero mal desarrollada, y aunque no sé si Murder House es una copia de alguna película o serie antigua, por lo menos ahí sí la hicieron bien. En cambio acá no establecen bien las reglas del juego, lo cual es conveniente para que siga la historia; pero lo que denota es un guión mal trabajado que desemboca en un final en donde lo único bueno son los créditos finales. Y por parte de las actuaciones son meh y a veces la protagonista daba cringe pero en mal rollo. Lo positivo es el vestuario de la época antigua; las pocas escenas de gore que hay; y el barco y su ambientación, cuya decoración daba un aire de misticismo, aunque por ocasiones me recordaba a Titanic lo que romantizaba un poco el lugar y eso en una película de terror no es necesariamente positivo, pero bueno. En fin y sin mas que decir, otra película de terror más que pasa sin pena ni gloria a la lista, y sí da pena porque siento que es una oportunidad desperdiciada y en otras manos hubiera sido una buena historia. Czy to, o czym mówią prezentowane tytuły dzieje się już teraz, czy może jeszcze mamy czas? W codziennym kołowrotku, tyłem głowy, wciąż się nad tym zastanawiam. „Nowa nadzieja” z Jodie Comer i Joelem Fry'iem to historia rodziny z dzieckiem, które rodzi się w punkcie kulminacyjnym ekologicznej katastrofy. Warstwa emocjonalna filmu nie jest głęboka, ja patrzyłam na niego ciekawostkowo: Czy zabraknie jedzenia (i internetu)? Co w ludzi wstępuje w czasie kryzysu? Kiedy to się skończy? Uważne przyglądanie się okolicznościom, jakie i nas mogą kiedyś spotkać, zgasiło czujność na fabularne niedociągnięcia. "Rok za rokiem" porównuje się do "Czarnego lustra". Serial, w którym na przestrzeni sześciu odcinków rodzina starzeje się o kilka lat. Świętuje kolejne sylwestry, a my obserwujemy przemiany społeczne, polityczne i ekologiczne. Bardzo prawdopodobne – część z nich zadziała się od roku premiery tytułu (2019). Kawał dobrego dramatu bez miejsca na kontynuację. "You, Me and the Apocalypse" to serial nieodżałowany. Po pierwsze, nie dał się poznać szerokiej publiczności. Po drugie, zakończył się masywnym cliffhangerem, którego nie mieliśmy szansy nigdy rozwikłać. Koncept jest następujący: okazuje się, że za X dni w Ziemię uderzy siejąca zniszczenie kometa. Jak reagują ludzie świata, a szczególnie bohaterowie, których losy splatają się w podziemnym schronie w brytyjskim Slough? Pozostaję pod dużym wrażeniem, choć od premiery minęło już 9 lat.
