Cornwall Day 5. Lizard Point. How beautiful is that?! The water was so blue and the sun was shining. What a gorgeous day for mumโs 60th birthday. She did so well too. After her brain bleed sheโs had to take it easy. But she did not back down from the this walk and was rewarded with these gorgeous views. After enjoying a lovely cream team at the moist southernly point cafe and gaining a perfect sunburn, we moved onto Mullion Cove. Honest review of Lizard Point & Prices ๐ซถ๐ป๐๐ Location: WOW! Kynance cove & kennack sands beach 5 minutes away and totally breathtaking. These were dog friendly to so perfect for milo! Sea acres park was also so close & beautiful for another staycation. Staff: On check in the staff behind the desk really struggled to do anything on the computer but she got there in the end. Bar staff and entertainment staff were all fab! We didnโt pre book any activities as standard but got in to everything we wanted to when we wanted to. Caravan: we stayed in a 3 bedroom caravan and it was spotless. Large spacious living room area with good facilities. Site: LOADS on site. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools were a great size. High ropes, soft play, arts & crafts, arcade, big entertainment venues, restaurant & so much more. Lots around the site too! Britain End-to-End day 2-4 โข Apr. 22-24 (multiple photos) Day 2 โข Apr 22nd โข Mile 13.6 to 32.7 โข 19.1 distance I took the bus back to Porthleven and picked up where I left off yesterday, along the coast on trail for a while, then through the town of Marazion and past St. Michaelโs Mount, a castle on an island reachable by causeway only at low tide. Paved paths led through Longrock and the fairly large town of Penzance (Gilbert & Sullivan nowhere to be seen), and eventually through the adorably named little village of Mousehole. I went a bit further and found a little spot in a small forested area for the night. Day 3 โข Apr 23rd โข Mile 32.7 to 50.8 โข 18.1 distance The rain that started late last night had stopped when I packed up this morning. The trail followed the usual rhythm of flatter section followed by a steep descent and then climb out of a cove, until climbing to a higher bench reached Landโs End. Landโs End is the most westerly point of England, though not technically all of the island of Britain. It does have symbolic significance as Landโs End to John oโ Groats being thought of as the extents of Britain. Currently Landโs End is a bit of a tourist trap, with multiple shops and restaurants. Even taking a photo with the iconic sign normally has a fee, though I got there just after they stopped charging and got a pic for free. The trail continued on past the pretty Cape Cornwall and I found a little spot to camp for the night. Day 4 โข Apr 24th โข Mile 50.8 to 65.7 โข 14.9 distance Continuing along the coast, with the path at times rocky and steep, with a little cruising mixed in. Lizard Point - the UKโs most southerly point! In all the times weโve been to Cornwall we never knew about Lizard Point, so once we read about it in a leaflet we had to go. The place is under National Trust so free for members, and you can head to Lizard Point, take some of the walks around the area, including into Lizard village, which is only a 10 minute walk away.

How lovely to have a couple of days to enjoy this special place. Whenever I have a visitor, I feel like a tourist again. My mum and I were so unbelievably lucky to have Kynance cove beach to ourselves yesterday morning. The air was still, the temperature was warm, crystal clear turquoise water and we were the first footprints ( and paw prints) to step on the white sand. I've been to a lot of beaches in my life in wonderful tropical destinations and Kynance cove is still one of the most beautiful I have ever stepped on. Followed by a walk along @thesouthweatcoastpath towards Lizard point. The springtime flora and Fauna is breathtaking. Make it part of your Cornish holiday and of course stop off @elliessoulkitchen as part of your day! Britain End-to-End day 1 โข Apr 21st โข Mile 0 to 13.6 (multiple photos) From the relatively small Canary Islands to the ninth-largest island in the world: Great Britain! My planned route starts at the southernmost point, Lizard Point, and travels to the northernmost, Dunnet Head, by way of Landโs End and John oโ Groats, approximately 1276 miles total distance. Iโll be walking big parts of several long distance trails: the South West Coast Path, Offaโs Dyke Path, Pennine Way and the West Highland Way and hopefully summiting Ben Nevis (the highest point in Britain), along the way. After flying back from Tenerife to London, then a day in the city and the train from Paddington station to Redruth, bus to Helston and a night in a hotel, I took the bus the final distance to the town of Lizard (derived from the Cornish language for โhigh courtโ, nothing to do with reptiles.) This bus took a very meandering route, so I didnโt get on trail til about noon. Today was beautiful, sunny, highs around 12ยฐC, light breeze, with some clouds moving in during the late afternoon. The trail followed along the absolutely stunning shoreline, with the ocean a vivid greenish-blue and rocky cliffs framed by lovely flowers. Crossing through several pretty coves along the way, then across the sandy Loe Bar and to the town of Porthleven. I decided to stop here, feeling like I might be fighting off the early stages of a cold (I swear every bus and plane is filled with people coughing and sneezing...) and wanting to get a good nights sleep, plus I found the Premier Inn I had stayed at last night was just ยฃ46 tonight, so I took the quick bus ride from Porthleven back to Helston for the night.
20.4.2024 Lizard Point - Cadgwith circular 12.5ish km. Don't really like circulars but didn't have the legs (or time) to do it as an out & back or a longer stretch on coast path terrain. Inland bit was pretty dull but for the lovely church in Grade, and was a good excuse for a wander round Cross Common Nursery on the way back through Lizard.
