👆FINGER STICKERS 👇 👉 They are in every Stage 3 knife & fork box, designed to help with the first few uses. Some kids love them, some don’t use them at all (some stick them elsewhere...👀😆) 👉 The idea behind them is if you set up your child with the stickers on their nails and top of the 🍴, they will immediately see how to use the cutlery with no guidance needed. Independent learning = the best learning 👌 👉 They are not super sticky - you need to hold them onto their nails for a few seconds to get them to stick. This is because we use a food safe paper and glue. 📣 Introducing ourselves for 2024! 🩵 We’re Kathryn & Chris, husband & wife team, founding Nana’s Manners after seeing the need in a busy market to give children the tools they need to succeed in becoming confident & independent at mealtimes. As a Primary teacher, Kathryn saw young children struggling to eat independently with the straight basic cutlery they were given. Children were given shaped pencils when learning to write, supportive scissors, yet there was no cutlery that supported their grip development and helped them develop their confidence at mealtimes. The journey of product development began and a few years later our first product launched, our unique knife and fork set 🍴This is still the product we are most known for, though we’ve gone on to develop ranges for babies (Stage 1❤️) toddlers (Stage 2💜) and pre-schoolers (Stage 3💚). We launched on BBC’s Dragon’s Den - an experience that was as amazing as it was terrifying! Snow Angels ❄️ Developmental Aqua Sensory swim play! It’s perfect in every way. Start with our snow angel song with your baby swimmers, advance to star floating with your toddlers, stretch swim skills with your early years children to create early independence, and water confidence. ❄️ Floating is not only fun, but is a vital water safety skill too. ❄️ Step 1. Start in the traditional STAR FLOAT position. ❄️ Step 2. Try a coordinated move- arms and legs SLOWLY moving together. ❄️ Step 3. Can they move the arms together and clap in midline? This alters the centre of balance, aids coordination, CROSSES THE MIDLINE works both sides of the brain in this bilateral movement. Go SLOW and intentional to create rhythm. 🎵 ❄️ Step 4. Can they move the arms above the head? This alters the centre of balance, is challenging and can aid reflex integration. ❄️ Step 5. Sequencing can be fun to add in more developmental movement. Note that when the ears are under the water, the child won’t be able to hear well, so provide each movement as a demo first. Move just the arms together. Move just the legs together. Move just the right arm and leg. Move just the left arm and leg. Move opposites arm and leg, one at a time. Move right arm, right leg, left leg, left arm and round you go again. I saw a young patient a few weeks ago who had a zip inserted on the side of his shorts so that he would be able to dress his pants independently over the Ex-Fix secured on his right Tibia. Quick reminder: Many schools offer the chance to have school lunches some days of the week and packed lunches others, with menus often available to see in advance.
