Ancient myths and tales are so often told by, or about old women, grandmothers or witches. Stories so old they have mysterious sources, endless adaptations and exist in multifarious versions. Every culture has a multi-faceted grandmother figure like Baba Yaga; she is traditionally the bearer and storyteller. She is totemic, ambiguous, and beyond easy summations of good or evil. She might help or hinder. I love these beautiful words from @oana_tudose_ on her Baba Yaga art works: ‘This is the mother Of all the mothers Of all the children And while she nurtures our bodies into eternal dust A gust of wind will whisper our farewells The soil will give us a last embrace And the trees will welcome us home’ The title ‘Grandma’s Story’ refers to a remarkable text by Trinh T. Konsepsi ini menciptakan karya dengan struktur modular, dengan sentuhan dekonstruksi dan terlihat asimetris namun terasa seimbang.
