This was my favorite morning on the Rae Lakes Loop. It took us over an hour to walk the first mile because I was stopping to take so many pictures, poke at icicles dangling over creeks, and watch small rainbow trout swimming in the lakes. Sunrise, Sierra Nevada Range. The Moon sets over the Sierra Nevada Mountains as the first rays of the sun illuminate their rugged slopes just after dawn. We had a great week exploring this beautiful area, east of the Sierra Nevadas, near Lone Pine California. Most of the roads leading up the mountains were still closed at higher elevations, but we got high enough to access some great alpine trails. The snow made us turn back a few times. The day started with finding Mobius Arch in the Alabama Hills outside Independence, CA at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range on an absolutely beautiful day. In the afternoon, I visited Manzanar National Historic site for what happened to be the 55th annual pilgrimage of the Japanese prisoners that were held there during WWII. A huge, well attended ceremony with family, friends and community relived the experience with stories and memories. The underlying theme they wished everyone to take away was that these injustices are still threatening today and it is through the support of one another, across all communities, that we may prevail some day. #manzanar #mobiusarch #sierranevada #justiceforall

The beauty of living here in the Sierra Nevada Mountains besides all that amazing high altitude energy, sunshine, and crystalline pure abundance of lakes, at least for me, is the variety we have so close that we can experience both alpine and high desert landscapes. That also gives us options of outdoor activities to embrace and make the most of during in between times. This nature girl enjoys soaking in all that goodness that shifts with each season and supports the cycles of life in beautiful mirror within and without. The variety and swings in fast moving weather patterns also supports resiliency, remaining detached, and leaning into flow and widening perspective. Recently we've been getting down to the high desert areas now and then that are at 4500 and up elevations - still high, but lower to up in the mountains where we live. I'm excited that the desert blooms are just starting to pop here and there, as you can see. Soon the hillsides will be covered in Spring sweetness. I love the vistas here of high desert and farmland pastures framed by the majestic Sierra Nevadas. Life is an endless bounty of surprise gifts that are available when we stay open to receiving unconditionally and are flexible to shifts that can lead us down even more abundant paths we had planned. Mt Whitney Summit 04/27/2024 iniciamos el 04/26 8:04 AM con una leve nevada en el portal, mientras subiamos se fue calmando, tomamos el camino a la orilla del rio Lone Pine, al rededor de la 1:00 PM empezaron los vientos y la nieve llegó más fuerte, mientras pasabamos Upper Boy scout Lake y llegabamso a Iceberg Lake, pusimos nuestras tiendas bajo la nieve y vientos de 35 MPH, descansamoa bajo temperaturas con sensación de menos cero. 04/27 teníamos pensado iniciar a las 3:00 AM para ver el amanecer en la cumbre, pero los vientos no se calmaban, así que esperamos mas tiempo... me puse warners en los pies porque el frío era demasiado y las 4:50 empezamos a subir, el frio era fuerte, uso botas LaSportiva Nepal Cube aún con los warmers sentía el frío fuerte en los pies y nesecitaba moverme para generar calor, la nieve estaba bastante dura, buena para un buen ascenso, el amanecer nos alcanzó a mitad del corredor (couloir) hacia el notch; finalmente llegamos a los (The last 400’) y tenía menos nieve que la semana pasada, la misma rutina, escalada de rocas, nieve y hielo en los ultimos 40’ a 50’ por los que nos fuimos a la izquierda para escalar las rocas y llegar a la cima. (9:08) el regreso lo hicimos por los 400 hicimos escalada de descenso con Balay, y bajanos siempre por la orilla del rio. felicitaciones a mi amigo Salvador 66 años de edad un gusto recibir la visita de Ramiro de PNW quien compartió parte de su experiencia con nosotros. 11/03 Aujourd'hui, on a été visité l'Alhambra, à Granada ! C'était vraiment magnifique : l'architecture, les jardins, la vue... Tout était vraiment beau. Il faut beaucoup marcher mais ça en vaut le coup. La vue avec la sierra Nevada était tout aussi magnifique. Guadix (Andalucía) - Situada a 915 msnm al norte del Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada y 54 kilómetros de la ciudad de Granada, históricamente fue colonia romana de la Tarraconense, sede episcopal de la Iglesia católica y capital del breve reino musulmán encabezado por Abú Abdallah Muhammad "El Zagal" (¿....?-¿....?), emir de Granada entre los años 1485 y 1486, hasta que Pedro González de Mendoza (1428-1495), arzobispo de Toledo, configuró la ciudad como enclave episcopal y sede del poder de la Casa del Infantado.
